W. Payton Patterson, O.D.

I used to love Dr. Patterson and the elder gentleman who always did fabulous as his optician. I had countless follow up visits, the hurricane hit, so many things went south. Especially my vision. I since went on and had so many other bad experiences from cataract removal complications to macular degeneration. I simply had to go elsewhere with ongoing doll up visits and no solutions; but when I'd left my glasses there they had for taking measurements and didn't even care, I was heartbroken. I had Rx Sunglasses on when I left and panicked- called the office and thank God I could reach them, and she casually expected me to go without them until the following day. I lived off of 231 N. It just broke me. I expected Dr. Patterson to be my optometrist as long as we both were alive and living in Bay County. I don't like this town anymore or what it's done to our healthcare providers. We used to be such a quaint personable helpful little town. Hurricane Michael and too many newcomers ruined it for so many of us.

Well unfortunately I had to downgrade my review and I really never like to do this but.. I think all the growth in the PCB area has diluted the personable service that this office used to offer. I didn't get a reminder that my eye exam was due and so when I called running short on contacts to get my exam there was no exam available for 3 months out. I understand certain medical guidelines have to be followed but telling me my only option was to wear glasses for months until I could get in on an eye exam was completely unacceptable. Two recommendations: 1) office staff needs to be friendlier and act like they're happy you chose this practice, not you're lucky to be in here. 2) If you're so busy, you're booked three plus months out for eye exams. At the very minimal. You should have long time customers on a reminder system 2 months out that their eye exam is due!

I've been going here for years (almost 10) and Dr. Patterson is awesome! He spends time with you and listens, and makes sure that your satisfied and understands his recommendations. They are very accommodating as well when it comes to appointments. The only thing is the price of their contacts have went up a pretty good amount (as with everything I know). It stinks because now with online ordering it almost forces people like me to go online and order my contacts instead of being able to stay local. Lastly, the process of co-pays if you have a medical issue that's discussed or not is kinda confusing at the office. All in all, there's no other Eye Doctor I'd rock with other than Dr. Patterson. Period.

Fantastic experience! Dr. Patterson is thorough and really cares about his patients. The office staff is friendly and efficient. Scheduling was a breeze and I was in and out in no time. Oh, and they had a great selection of glasses and sunglasses. It was difficult to choose, but the optician there helped me pick out a fabulous pair of Coach sunglasses that now I won't go anywhere without!

I have called Emerald Coast several times, no one ever answers. They say they will get back to you by the end of the next day. Something has been going on with my eye off and on and I really just don't understand why someone can't check messages just in case somebody needs to be seen that day. Now I have to drive up there and wait for God knows how long, if they can see me at all. I don't like leaving bad reviews but I have never seen a place not answer the phone. Avoid this place at all costs.

I highly recommend Emerald Coast Eye Care to anyone who is not already a patient there. I have been a patient there for almost 3 years and have been incredibly pleased with the service and care that Dr. Patterson and the staff at Emerald Coast Eye Care have provided. Dr. Patterson is professional, kind, and great at communicating. In addition to Dr. Patterson, the staff at Emerald Coast are so helpful, nice, and caring. When I was being fitted for my contacts for the first time I was really bad at putting my contacts in and it took a while for me to get the hang of it, but the optometrist techs there were patient, helpful, and reassuring in teaching me how to correctly put my contacts in. I have never had a problem with any of the contacts or glasses that I have purchased from Emerald Coast, the daily contacts that they recommended for me are super comfortable and the glasses are high quality and durable.

Eye Exam was fantastic! EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED WITH GETTING GLASSES THERE!!!! CROOKS!! Here's my story...When I went in for my exam I was asked if I'd considered progressive lenses. I told the dr I was concerned about motion sickness which she agreed some people can get from them but said they may work out for my vision and said I should at least consider it as an option at some point. The gentleman fitting me for glasses was a bit more pushy and convinced me with the guarantee that I could bring them back to exchange them within 30 days of trying them if I was not happy with them for any reason. The progressive lenses cost me an additional $125 bringing my out of pocket cost (after insurance paid there portion) to $500 for my glasses. I did have issues with motion sickness just like I thought I would so I brought them back within the 30 days to have them switched to regular lenses. No problem with that. What they did not mention to me when they were convincing me to at least try the progressive lenses was that they would not reimburse me any of the $125 I had to pay to get the lenses I didn't really want in the first place.

I too stopped in to look for frames but didn't even get the opportunity to look. Was told they will not file my insurance unless I had my eye exam there too. I'm 60 years old and this is the first time I have had this problem. Always got my prescription and purchased my glasses where ever I found a pair of frames that I liked. It is there loss and the receptionist was not nice when she told me. I won't be going back.
