Dau Family Eye Care

Amazing! I definitely made the best choice when looking for a new eye care provider in St. Johns after moving to Jacksonville from Ohio. During my first ever visit, the young man who quickly greeted me to check me in was very polite and efficient in getting everything in place, as I also noticed a very inviting and modern waiting/optical area. My technician Valerie was very cheerful, professional and knowledgeable during the initial portions of my exam. She was very proactive in preparing a retinal scan test after acknowledging Dr. Poon discussing this with me. Dr. Poon was extremely professional, knowledgeable and thorough during all phases of her portions of my exam. She patiently answered all my questions while ensuring I had all the pertinent information I needed. I really appreciate how much time she was willing to gladly invest in me, to expertly execute exam and test procedures, and into this visit overall. Once I had my new lens prescription, Jessica and the lady working with her very quickly assembled all the information I needed when choosing to replace my lenses and possibly frames. She reviewed all my coverage and all available options. They also showed me a video of how my vision would be impacted with the various levels of progressive lenses! In several instances this visit I also was provided testing with technology and equipment that I had never seen before, even though I have received eye care, including several specialists, and worn glasses for almost 60 years. I highly recommend Dau Family Eye Care!

Unfortunately, there are few pediatric optometrists in our area, otherwise we probably would have switched our three-year-old daughter at this point. Sad to make this review as we love Dr. Dau and Dr. Balo, but their front of house is the worst we have ever dealt with by a landslide. Before Christmas we visited the new Longleaf location and Dr. Balo assigned our daughter an updated prescription. Everybody was super friendly at the time and indicated it would likely be after the new year (week of January 5th) before our daughter's new lenses arrived, understandable given the holidays. I called the office on January 9th for an update, and they indicated the glasses had arrived but the individual who edges the glasses is out sick and they would call back when he was back to schedule an appointment. A week goes by with no communication, so I called back to find out the lenses are still on their way and will be arriving the next day, they even had us schedule the edging appointment. Thankfully, I called before the appointment to find out the glasses had not arrived and haven't even been ordered! They ordered them with the promise they would be there that week. Fast forward 3 weeks and probably 6 outbound (and a few inbound) calls to and from the office for an update, we continued to get conflicting information on the status on which office they were at, where they were, if they were there, and when we can get the lenses cut. It's now February 9th and we had an appointment scheduled for today but just received a call the edger is out sick again. This office continues to give us the run around on the status of the lenses. So, either they are lying to get us off the phone or they really have zero clue what is going on. Thankfully our daughter has an existing, out of prescription, pair of glasses she can wear temporarily. We had a similar, less severe, experience waiting on our daughters' first set of glasses. I would stay away from this place if you had a child that can go to a regular optometrist. Dr Dau needs to investigate these issues as he will likely be lose a patient when our daughter is old enough go elsewhere.

All of the staff is so helpful and nice. I tried out their new skin care line, Universkin. Dylan explained how it all worked and made a custom skin care routine for me. It was really cool and has already made my skin so much better.

The DR was excellent, kind, and informative. Would recommend for that reason. However, I would not recommend buying glasses there. It's took me almost 4 weeks for both pair of glasses to come on. That is a ridiculous amount of time and have never experienced that at any other eye place.

Dr. Jordan Dau was very thorough and professional. He took the time to answer my questions and explained eye conditions in a way I could understand. He also offered options for treatment. Dylan was also very professional and helpful. The person who did the first part of the exam was also very professional. Very friendly staff who treat patients with courtesy and respect. Highly recommend!

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted warmly and found the entire staff to be friendly and extremely helpful. It's obvious they love their jobs! Dr. Balo was excellent and caught some issues previous doctors had missed. My entire family will be making appointments here, and I highly recommend them to anyone seeking high quality care!!

Dr. Balo was excellent. It is a challenge to get the prescription right for my contacts and she was very patient and kept trying until we got it right. Everyone in the office was very nice and patient as well. Highly recommended.

First visit here and very pleased with the professionals and the treatment. Explanations and expectations were clear. The exam room and waiting room was clean with friendly and professional staff. Highly recommend this office for your eye care needs.
