Excellent eye care. Thorough evaluation. Dr. Berger did a great job on my pre-op management, cataract extraction and post-op care. Lisa, eye technician was very attentive in getting post-op eyeglasses in a timely fashion and communicating authorization for eye drops. Staff returned calls in a timely fashion. Appreciate that Email correspondence was made available for non-emergent communication. Would not hesitate to refer family members or friends to Dr. Berger.

GOOD NEWS! It has been over 2 years since my cataract surgery using the Light Adjustable Lens. This lens does not reflect and looks so natural. I can see ALL distances so clearly with no glasses. I can see to drive safely at night, no more squinting to read road signs, no more falling. I am ever so grateful to Dr. Berger for my great vision...THANK YOU!

I booked my first appointment with Dr Berger because of a diagnosis from an optometrist. He showed me that that diagnosis was not correct and why. I had progressive vision loss in one eye which was a cataract that was not age-related. After discussing treatment plans, we decided on light adjustable lenses and while the entire process took many months to complete, the time was worth it because my vision is now sharp and clear. The cataract surgery was absolutely painless. His office is efficient and everyone I came in contact with made a point to clean every piece of equipment in front of me. Dr Berger has a great personality and I wouldn't hesitate to send anyone there. The icing on the cake however goes to Lisa Oliveri the certified ophthalmic assistant. She is a wealth of knowledge, personable and clearly the office resource! Great team at Bay area eye institute, I recommend them highly.

Met a couple of excellent employees along my journey of recovery with my eye thankful that they were there to help me Brandon, was the male nurse that took care of me and my wife and I am so thankful that he was there. He was the perfect person for someone going through something like that. He was excellent compassionate, caring individual and good at his job.

The staff at the office is amazing and very helpful. They explain everything so you know what to expect with a procedure. However, Dr. Berger is not personable at all and doesn't seem to want to be there. He rushes through the appointment like he has somewhere else to be. I want a Doctor who is good at what he does and also one who at least pretends that he is happy you are his patient. If you are looking for both like me, you will not find it here.

Thank you doctor Berger for operating on my eye in 2011 and just recently on my other eye. You are a brilliant surgeon and we are so very lucky to have you here in Tampa Bay. Also thank you to the entire staff at Bay Area Eye Institute for wonderful and professional care. Your office is a shining example of how every doctor's office should function.

I am 72 years old and I was diagnosed with keratoconus in my late 20's. My left eye was most severely affected. I have been to many corneal specialists and tried many different treatments including scleral lenses, intacts and cataract surgery. Nothing seemed to work. Dr Berger diagnosed me with Fuchs' Dystrophy very quickly and recommended DMEK surgery a corneal transplant. Surgery went very well. I expected to wear corrective eyewear after the surgery. I was pleasantly surprised that my vision was tested to 20/60 after the surgery with no correction. That was much better than I had with corrective lenses. They over refracted and I got to 20/30. I have never had vision that good in my left eye. I will be seeing my optometrist to get a better fit and I am hoping for 20/20 after that evaluation. Dr Berger is very professional and his staff is outstanding. I would recommend Dr Berger. Since I have Fuchs' in both eyes I expect to get the other eye done soon.

Worst place ever. Doctor is so slow, talks like he could careless and rushes you whenever you explain/answer his questions. Had an appt at 9:15 been here since 8:45 ish in the morning(to also get paper filled but finished ahead of time) and got told they were 30 minutes behind wasn't till 11 that we got called yet everyone else who was just walking in got dealt with quickly. Again said that they were understaffed but the other patients who were JUST coming in got taken care of before us . They charge you for almost EVERYTHING you sign Save yourself the long drive AND the long wait and the careless treatment you get
