Newsom Eye - Carrollwood

I wanted to take a moment to recognize Leanne for the amazing job she does. My husband had an appointment and I stayed in the lobby the entire time, so I was able to witness firsthand how she handles everything with so much calmness and professionalism. It was extremely busy to the point where there weren't even enough seats and people were constantly coming in and out from every direction. Despite that, Leanne stayed focused and positive I watched her check patients in and out, translate for two different people and even help someone complete paperwork by translating everything for them, and even assist patients with follow-ups and things from other coworker and phone calls and direct patients to the right floor and dealing with billing issues and getting forms filled out, basically everything! She truly went above and beyond. There was another employee working with her who was handling longer checkout processes and I heard them telling each other they were doing an good job and it was really nice to see that kind of support and teamwork between them. And every patient left smiling. At times there was a small line at the front desk but both girls kept things moving quickly and stayed positive while being glued to their seats for almost the full 2 hours. Honestly two people is not always enough for how busy it gets and management should really support them more, because they are doing an incredible job with what they have.

In October of 2024 I paid my thousand dollars (with insurance) to have my first cataract removed. I requested and paid for twilight anesthesia but did not receive it because the (very young) phlebotomist refused to listen to me about where to place the needle. After dismissing me and my advice (because obviously, as a 59 year old that has had multiple blood draws, I couldn't possibly know my own body or what I'm talking about) and receiving 6 hematomas in both arms, she decided to repeatedly jam the needle between my knuckles and, because it didn't work, she taped the needle on my hand and I received NO anesthesia. So, not only did I experience the horrendous pain of being stabbed repeatedly by Kat the phlebotomist, I had to experience the pain of having my eyeball operated on with no anesthesia. What a wonderful way to spend $1000, by being tortured. Maybe next year I'll pay $2000 to have my fingernails pulled out with pliers while suffering from food poisoning, just to give Newsome a run for their money. Of course I complained and the office manager was very kind, understanding, and apologetic and my second surgery went very well with no issues. After my follow-up, I received multiple phone calls and text messages to come in for my "month after" follow-up. I had my husband take the day off of work because it's an hour and 15 minutes drive and I did not have my glasses yet to drive. Now mind you, the front desk receptionists obviously have the ability to use a phone because they called me repeatedly to come in up until the day before my appointment but they couldn't bother to let me know the day of, or during my hour and 15 minutes drive, that my insurance won't cover my "follow-up" to my "follow-up" appointment but, as she put it, "if you have $250 the doctor will see you". WTH? How rude, how unprofessional, how cruel and she just sucks her teeth and smirks. WOW. What a lovely scam Newsome has going on. I left mad and complained yet again to the office manager who recommended I come back next Friday. Nope, never again. It's been a year and two months and I have complete night blindness therefore I cannot drive at night (never had it before).

I just called to make an annual appointment for both myself and my daughter and was told that they no longer take eye insurance except on Fridays. At first, I was like that's fine but then found out the first available appointment is two months away. Of course it is when everybody has eye insurance and now is fighting for a Friday appointment. As a retired military person my medical insurance doesn't cover eye, which is why I have a separate policy. Disappointed that I now have to find a new eye doctor for my family.

Tiffany was extremely professional and we had a wonderful experience. From the moment we met she was courteous and listened to our needs as well as what we wanted. This is the first time both my husband and I have purchased our glasses from Newsome Eye. Many thanks go out to Ms. Tiffany. We will be back because of you and your wonderful customer service.

I just had cataract surgery at NEWSOMEYE in Carrollwood by Dr Sifrig this month. The surgeries were one week apart. I had no problems with either eye. I would highly recommend the surgery center and Dr Sifrig.. Everyone there was extremely helpful, friendly and professional. They followed up with a phone call to check on you and post-op at my local center in Brooksville. I was pleasantly surprised at how organized and fluid the whole experience was. I do not give out recommendations easily so when I say I would recommend NEWSOMEYES to friends and family without hesitation. Thank you to all involved with my new Newsome eyes . Sincerely K. E. I have been going here for years and enjoyed the wonderful service. Unfortunately, after my last exam, I was informed that they would only be taking insurance appointments on Fridays. I cannot have my eyes dilated on Fridays because I have to work that day. I would always schedule yearly exams on Monday for this reason. I guess I'll have to find another eye care center. Not sure who made this decision, but it's a terrible one.

I've been going to Newsom for a couple years now. I saw Jose this past week and had the best experience. He is incredibly kind, compassionate and professional! Making the appointment easier! Also, Ashley at the front desk was just as warm and welcoming! I can't imagine going anywhere else!

I have been going to Newsom Eye for several years now. I have had an extremely pleasant experience. Everyone on the staff is very kind and friendly. I especially had a great experience with Chris who did my eye exam and Tiffany the optician who was super patient with me and helpful in picking out my new pair of glasses.
