I have been to several eye doctors in Tampa and this clinic is the one clinic where I have had the hardest time getting my eye exam and correct eye prescription. Setting up the appointment was not hard and I did receive constant messages about the appointment. The doctor did a thorough eye exam for glasses and I did get a script I was able to use for frames and lenses. The problem came when it came time to get my lens and frames done because I needed progressive lenses and the doctor had only provided the basic measurements for up close or far away lenses. I have been to several doctors for eye exams and frames and lenses and never once have I had an issue where I have to keep calling and even have to show up at the clinic trying to figure out a way to get the prescription to include the measurements for progressive lens. Normally I go in and get the exam done and in the prescription I receive both the measurements for progressive lens and for up close and far away without having to ask for them and then I decide what I want to do for my lenses. It took me 2 days after my initial eye exam to be able to reach the doctor and get the eye prescription changed. Furthermore, the first day after the exam I was promised certain times by when the new script would be fax or available and it never arrived. One of the receptionist I went to see at the clinic on my second day of trying to get the new script rolled her eyes at me when she saw me walking to the counter trying to figure out when the doctor would be available to fix my script. I asked for a refund for the exam fee given they didn't give me the correct script information and was told that they give a basic script unless the patient specified what kind of lens they were trying to get and I was denied my refund and instead had to wait until the doctor eventually was not busy and could change the script information. I did get the script changed but I had to miss work and be proactive to reach the doctor. Overall based on past experiences, I had a hard time getting a simple eye prescription for progressive lens done here in comparison to other places that provide the same service. Not to mention that I picked this place because I was told my insurance covered the exam and then was asked to pay money for the exam because I didn't have vision insurance.

Although initial physician was a tad rude, the next time it was an appointment time issue! I waited 20 minutes, had a test and had to return next day. Somehow the time was altered bc I put it my phone. She said I was wrong. Doubt it - am waiting now but I'll not wait 45 minutes

I went in to be evaluated back in April for possible cataracts. I was diagnosed with cataracts, did not go with the company cuz I did not get a good feeling about the outcome, therefore I canceled my cataract procedure. I want to USF Health found out yes I have cataracts but only 2 to 3 percent in my eyes. Their doctors told me I do not require cataract surgery at this time it would have not fixed the problem, they told me to go get another eye exam and up date your glasses, it turned out I needed new lenses cost $420.00 .Therefore they would have stolen $5,000 of my money out of pocket and not fix the problem! I highly Recommend buyer beware when choosing this medical practice.

I called for an appt because I thought i scratched my cornea. My ordinary dr is closed on Fri. The doctor was kind and seemed knowledgeable. The tech who took me to the room was another story. She seemed to have an attitude for some reason. At one point she said she had to check my eye pressure. She grabbed a bottle of drops (no gloves on) and came over to me. I asked if the drops would dilate my eyes, since I never have had drops to check eye pressure. She said "I'm going to check your pressure". I said that's not what I asked. I want to know what you are putting i my eye. She stated rudely that it was an anesthetic. I should gave gotten up and walked then, but I wanted relief for my eye. The doctor prescribed a drop that no pharmacy seems to carry. I will be following up with my usual Dr on Mon. Biggest waste of a copayment and my time ever! I still have no relief for my eye until Mon.

Had cataract surgery in August 2024. Still, 6 months later can't get any glasses. Had laser treatments last month. Not much improvement. Now they say I have dry eyes and see another Dr for that. Saw Dr yesterday woke up with closed painful right eye. Emergency visit to Dr Jacob's says scratch over cornea caused from dry eyes. Coincidentally after eye exam yesterday? Getting eye drops. Still no glasses after six months. Dr after Dr. No longer trust this company. Will see dry eye Dr then I'll go to another doctor because I no longer trust them. Sick and tired of being throw around to every other Dr with no glasses for six months. Cataract surgery was supposed to help but it made everything worse. Don't come here. Go somewhere else!

Dr. Kane is a very polite, energetic. and fun loving doctor. His mannerism is absolutely great. He keeps you totally relaxed and explains everything thoroughly. I would highly recommend him. He did wonders for me by removing cataracts on both eyes and now I do not have to wear glasses. Awesome!!!!!!! :)

Everyone at the Eye Institute that I interacted with or received assistance from were absolutely wonderful! They were all kind and caring, and made me feel so welcomed! Special thanks to Dr. Desai who consulted with me about my cataract surgery. He was so nice, and explained to me very well about the condition of my eyes and my options to improve my vision. I was very impressed with his knowledge, and felt confident when I left there that I had made the best decision about my surgery. Also, Meghan Schoenberg has been so nice and helpful with providing me lots of information and scheduling all my appointments. I've called or emailed her various times with questions or concerns, and each time she has responded immediately. She is definitely a wonderful asset for the Eye Institute and represents them well.

Would not recommend this place at all. Sat for two hours and still didn't see a doctor. Eyes dialated and just sat and sat waiting. Don't recommend this place at all. Waste of my time.
