Crossroads Family Eyecare

The staff are always very friendly. My 12-year-old had her first eye exam and she was very nervous. They made her experience very easy. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Today was my first visit to this practice and I had the best experience. Everyone was very friendly and Dr. was so thorough and really took his time with my appointment. I unexpectedly had to bring my 6-year old daughter and everyone, including the Dr., was so kind and patient with her. I would recommend this practice to everyone.

They were cordial, but not overly friendly during my appt, but that wasn't why I was there. I was there for my regular checkup. I have Coloboma of the Iris, and he hadn't seen many. The appt went fine until he told me I had cataracts, and I needed surgery pretty quickly. I was really surprised because I had been told I had the starting of them, but it would be years before I would need to think of surgery. He told me there was a Dr he could recommend. I told him I wanted to wait. He told me I didn't need to wait too long. The Dr he recommended had a long waiting list, and I really needed it within about 6 mos. He told me because of my cataracts he had done the best he could with my Rx. I was to make a 3 or 6 mos, appt (I think it was 3) to come back so he could check how far advanced they had gotten. I was pretty shook up when I left. What I didn't understand was, my eyes weren't dry, I hadn't had any problems with them, AND my Rx was really good. I could see clear as a bell. I order my glasses online, so when I got them, I was very pleased. I ended up cancelling the next appt with him, just because I felt very pressured to commit to a surgery I wasn't sure about. Fast forward 2 years to my eye appt with Eye Vision Group in Warner Robins today. I was very anxious to hear what she had to say about my "cataracts". I'm happy to report my cataracts are "normal" for my age. I'll be 70 in a month. The Dr told me at some point in a few years we might need to talk seriously about it, but we'll all need surgery later on in life. She said my eyes looked really good and they'll keep an watch to see if anything changes. My Rx changed just slightly. Great news!! I told her about my last appt and what the Dr had told me. She was shocked. I told her I wondered if he was gonna get a kick back?!! I don't know, but I was worried unnecessarily for two years!! And because of my Ins, I had to wait two years before it would be paid for.That's the reason for my one star review. If you have a chance to change Dr.'s, I would.

So much to love about this practice. Having a competent dr who is EXCELLENT with kids, along with a friendly office staff, is a rare combination. We have been happy patients for going on 3 years and they continue to meet and exceeded my expectations!

I'm a little confused after reading the good reviews, because I was not impressed by Dr. Smith. My first and only time going to an eye doctor was to his office, so I had no idea what to expect or what the appointment would be like. I tried to understand what he was telling me about my vision by asking questions and he almost seemed annoyed by my questions. Overall he just did not seem very friendly, and didn't answer my questions well. I have a co-worker who took her 3 year old there as well and she had the same opinion of him. Neither of us will be going back to this office because we did not feel well cared for there.

I was on a road trip from Wisconsin to Florida and I was having irritation in one eye that was making it very difficult to keep it open. As we stopped in the area for the night, I gave Crossroads Family Eyecare a call the next morning and they were able to see me that morning yet. Dr. Smith took a quick look in my eyes and knew what was going on. I was given some eyedrops and the next day my eye was feeling better than it had in days and I ultimately was able to enjoy the rest of my vacation. Dr. Smith and his staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating. I would definitely recommend!
