Miwa Wayne N OD

Dr. Wayne Miwa is one of the most patient people I know. He came highly recommended by Assets school when my son had a hard time focusing on his reading. Dr. Miwa recommended some eye exercises that really helped my son. This was in 1992 or 1993. Since then, he is now the Optometrist for my whole family as well as my mother and siblings. I like that he keeps up with the latest technology. I didn't think it was possible, but my distance actually improved under his care. I was so excited, I had to write this review. Mahalo Dr. Miwa!

Excellent service from Dr. Miwa and his staff. Dr. Miwa is very knowledgeable and always receptive to discussing and resolving any concerns I may have. He and his staff are always personable and patient with this senior citizen. Highly recommend.

Edit: reported Dr. Miwa to my then insurance immediately after these encounters. They did an investigation. I just received the report from insurance a few days ago. The many lies and half truths in the "provider response" to each of my statements are even more telling and atrocious. Beware indeed. If he's called out on his actions, will definitely not give the full truth to whomever is investigating and will try to paint himself in a better light. Multiple lies about what happened and insurance investigation said, oh well, things happen. Nothing we can do. (Not that insurance is ever on our side, but alas). At least it's documented. But beware. Beware. -1000/10 The rudest, most unprofessional Dr. I've been to in a LONG time. Initially refused my service dog into his office/exam room; was confrontational & rude to me about it, not caring if it's the LAW that service dogs have public access rights. During exam, he was rude & dismissive, nasty & presented data in a flippant way. On 2nd visit, refused to explain medical procedures, even when I repeatedly asked. I know drs are trained to inform patients throughout the process of everything they're doing, asking consent to touch, etc. Dr. Miwa does not. He rudely pushed my head/face into the medical device, without consent. Extremely grumpy & unprofessional. Did not listen to/answer my questions. Did not do lenses through the means I asked (insurance vs private pay, etc). Referred me to ophthalmologist for something potentially serious & left sensitive information on VM. Turned out to not be the serious thing he said & his prescriptions were incorrect, specialist noted. Sent my medical chart much after I asked, did not notify me when they were sent, like I asked. Alot of incorrect medical history & info. Worst dr I've seen in a long time. Stay away at all costs.
