Referred to Kapolei Eye Care initially for pressure in both eyes due to diabetes. Dr. Chen performed 2 iridotomies. Also determined that cataracts were forming in both eyes and would require lens replacements due to clouding. I elected to go with upgraded lenses instead of the standard to avoid having to wear glasses again. Start to finish (about 4 weeks) of the cataract surgeries, 1 for each eye, spaced out, I now have 20/20 vision for the first time in about 18 years. Dr Chen and her staff were very professional and attentive to my case. Can't thank them enough and very pleased with the outcome.
5 Star Service.
Nearly 2 months to get a pair of glasses. Lady said she went on vacation handed order off to her coworker, jus informed it's going to get ordered today wait time 1 week. $370.00 & 9 weeks later zero. Told "we tried to call you!" Not true! Owner focus on Med spa business down the road. So Disappointed Jus go Costco
I wish I could give them a lower than 1 star. I should've read the reviews before coming here. Before coming to this eye doctor, before coming to Hawaii I had an eye doctor that I trusted and was sad to have to leave because she diagnosed me with the medical issue in my eye. So I went into this eye doctor turning in a form (at least a month before going to my appointment) to get my medical records to them. At my first appointment they had NOT A SINGLE medical form from the past. Dr. Chen looked in my eye and stated nothing was wrong with it. I knew there was something wrong with it still. She also stated that that them not getting my medical records was my last eye doctors fault when I knew it wasn't. I then proved to her that she did not teach the people who work for her how to find these forms filled out on HER website. I told them I'm not coming back until they get my medical records and the people at the front were nice Dr. Chen not so much. I eventually had another appointment made and came in just for them to look at my medical issue and I come in and Dr. Chen is no where to be found. Instead Dr. Oak is looking at my eye, mind you last time I was there she stated she legally can't look for my medical issue since she isn't trained on it. Dr. Oak only looked at my prescription the first time I was there. She looked confused as heck when I told her that I was there just for my medical issue and looked at it. When I left that appointment I knew something was off and told myself I needed to find a new doctor. My OB then helped me get into a neurologist because I wasn't able to get one because Dr. Chen stated nothing was wrong. Update I still have the medical issue AND still need a neurologist. Dr. Chen put my vision in jeopardy because she was too lazy to actually do her job.
If you have IIH please do not go to kapolei eye care
If I could rate lower than one star, I would. This was my 5 year old's very first eye clinic, and she was prescribed glasses. From her very first check up, I was not satisfied with the service...Dr.Chen was very rude. But I still gave it a try.. and after almost one year getting checked at this clinic, the doctor said my daughter's eyes were getting worst. From there, I decided to move her to a better eye clinic which provides way better service. After that I thinking I was done with Kapolei Eye care. This month, I then get a text message of a bill that's past due. I only get a text message now when the bill was from 9 months ago. They have been sending it to the wrong address and only texted me now about the bill. Take note, I had called them a couple times in between and they had never mentioned the bill to me over the phone. I had scheduled and rescheduled appointments and they never told me about my past due. Only now I find out and they tell me that it is the final notice and will be going to collections. When I called them, they could not even tell me what the bill was for, I had to call a different company for the billing. After the billing company clarified it for me. I called the clinic back and paid over the phone. The clinic could not even provide me with confirmation number or assure me that the bill will not go towards collections. They had told me to call back at the billing company on my own. (Prior to that, I had to call the billing company to find out what the charge was for. While speaking with the billing company, they had called Kapolei eye care for me and put me on hold just to confirm with them that the fee I'm being charged with was for a refraction. They even provide a better service. Because unlike the staff at Kapolei Eye Care they are always just telling me to call the billing company on my own, they wont't even just call them for me). After making the payments, I called the billing company and provided a better service than the staff at Kapolei Eye Care, they took care of my concern and before hanging up on the phone they assured me the payment was processed today and will not go towards collections. But with Kapolei Eye care, they just don't care about their customers. I will not recommend them to anyone. And looking at past reviews, I am not the only one dissatisfied.
Not my first appointment here so was kind of surprised when Dr. Oakes came in & said she'd be doing my exam. No reason or explanation why it would not be Dr. Chen. Came in expecting to start talks about getting cataract surgery on my right eye. Per Dr.Oakes yes the right is much worse than the left. The left??? Had never been told there was a cataract in my laft eye. But per Dr. oh yes they come in twos.
Then she asked if I had had any more TIA's. Being a retired RN I certainly know what a TIA is & have never been given that diagnosis by Dr. Chen or any Dr. Was having visual disturbances that Dr. Chen said had to do with the circulation in my eye but never gave it a name or referred to it as a TIA. Dr. Oakes asked if I ever had a stroke which I have not.
"Well TIA must just be the way Dr. Chen referred to it in her notes." At that point I said I was very upset & the appointment was over. Dr. Oakes did ask if I wanted to see Dr. Chen but I declined. I took the slip Dr. Oakes gave me to the front desk and checked out. Will now find a new eye Dr.
I had to wait passed my appointment time to be seen I had to wait to pick out my glasses frame. Will not go there again.
Dr. Nancy Chen deserves less than one star. First, when I had my appointments at 8 am, I had to wait for about 45 minutes for her to arrive because she was still on her way to the office. Second, all my issues concerning my eyes, she only told me to go home and come back at a later date, and to use the hot compress and medicine that we only sell here and the insurance does not cover. Instead of my eyes getting better, they are getting worse. Finally, when she decided to do something different instead of sending me home, they did not assist me because my previous referral was expired, but my new one was being faxed.
They don't care about people; they care about money.
I've never been more satisfied with my visit's. The staff and Dr. Chen has taken cared of all my needs. They are so great a hand full of my family goes there also.
They follow you though before the surgery and after.
Which the surgery was painless and fast.
Love my new eye's.
Yes sometime's the wait's are long but it's worth it. We just do not schedule any other appointment's then hers. : 0 )
