Idaho Vision Developement Center was a huge help with my son, who had binocular vision issues (regular eye doctors had missed!).
In 4th grade, he still wasn't reading independently and not for lack of trying. He met with his therapist weekly for close to a year, seeing the doctor every 8 weeks for progress updates. Everyone was always so positive and encouraging; it was a really great experience for him. His confidence grew drastically as he began to see gains in coordination and reading skills.
I will say, the program/regime was extremely expensive and not covered by insurance. That is the one real downside. Also, if both the child and the parent aren't willing to work hard at home regularly, don't bother. Progress is super dependent on repetition and consistency. However, the therapist worked hard to keep the activities engaging and varied, so even my hyperactive kiddo (mostly) enjoyed them.
At the end of the day, vision therapy was a great experience that resulted in big gains for my kid. I'm greatful for the doctor and the whole team.

We are very impressed by Dr. Nielson and the amazing staff at Idaho Vision Development Center. We always felt welcomed and cared for. We started going because our daughter was having a hard time reading. She kept skipping words and reversing letters. Her therapist, Serena, was so encouraging and amazing. Our daughter had a lot of fun with the activities in the office. The at-home activities took a lot of effort and we couldn't always see how they were going to help, but in the end proved very effective. Her reading has improved greatly since doing vision therapy!

I have only good to say about Idaho Vision Development Center. Their facility is run so well. If you or your child is struggling with reading, learning or focus I would really encourage you to go in and see what they can do for you. My daughter went from being habitually behind in homework because it was incredibly frustrating to work through, to being a straight A student reading chapter books at night. Dr Nielson and his team have helped us to gain confidence. I can't thank them or recommend them highly enough.

Dr. Nielson did an outstanding job with my son's vision therapy. From the very beginning, he took the time to clearly explain what was going on with my son's vision and how it was affecting him. My three children and I have gone through a few months of vision therapy. My son graduated and the rest of us graduate soon. I can now focus better both close up and at distance, can read a book with my eyes without falling asleep, and can jump and track better from page to page when editing documents. We are best at treating reading and learning problems caused by vision issues as well as lazy eye, crossed eye, double vision, headaches and even vision problems resulting from a concussion or traumatic head injury.
