Costco Optical Department

I had a wonderful experience with this optical department. Everyone I worked with there was so kind and helpful. I love the glasses I got, and they were very reasonably priced without insurance. (About $250 for a pair of sunglasses and a pair of regular glasses) The sunglasses even adjust to light. I will definitely go back the next time I need glasses or an eye test.

The best eye exam experience I have encountered. Doctor Michelle Darnell was informative and thorough far above and beyond any other medical professional in any field I have worked with in the last three decades. The office was immaculate and the eye imaging machinery state of the art. The receptionist was patient and helpful despite me flip flopping on which exam I wanted and the date. Wish they had a medical practice outside of just vision so I could get some real answers instead of more redundant orders for x-rays and tests that cost precious time and money. Can't speak for the east save for Barnstable/ Cape Cod, but definitely the Best in the West. Rockstars.

I really think the female doctor was on some kind of drugs or something. First she asked if I wanted the "puff test", and I said no. She gave it to me anyway with no warning. Very erratic. She repeatedly tried to convince me (40 yrs wearing glasses/contacts) that when conducting the test with all the lenses that it was ok that SHE kept picking the ones that were blurry???? Ultimately insisting that I trust her and the blurry and irritating contacts she picked would be fine. After fighting them for a couple of days I gave up trying and asked via phone message for them to redo the prescription/eval (simply blurry). They wouldn't get back with me repeatedly. Finally, did get back once and left a message about giving them more information about who I was and what happened ... which... I had already given them multiple times. I gave up and just ate the exam cost. Didn't have issues with the guy doc in years past... office, tests, glasses were all fine in the past. Didn't go back. Otherwise, I'm generally a costco addict with an exec. membership for a LONG time. Very sour experience.

generally an uncomfortable place to be, in the office with the doc an elderly lady who worked there was pretty much verbally assaulting the newer gal who obviously just started working there. i felt bad for her. then the doctor told me i could get my glasses a bit tightened up so i went to the glasses counter and the lady was unbearable and rude, loud and indecent towards others. would not recommend.

I ordered glasses here and they came with a flaw in them, which the eye doctor subsequently verified. Costco CDA refused to fix them, and I had to pay for a second set of lenses to get the correct prescription. I also went in once to see if they could repair my current glasses. They were broke, and my new ones hadn't come it yet. The staff were super rude and taken aback that I would even ask about repairs. In contrast, Lens Crafters has always been willing to replace broken nose pieces or ear pieces, or makes fit adjustments, free of charge. Costco also has ridiculously long lead times, 2 to 3 weeks when Lens Crafters can make the same glasses in 30 minutes for less money. If you wanted to be treated like garbage, come to the Costco Optical center in Coeur d'Alene.

Vision Dr. (Female) from the time I walked in to the time I walked out...would not stop talking, and not necessarily to me but about vision. Felt like she was babbling out of nervousness. Had to return 4 times. 1 costco employee did measure eye placement. 2. Discovered Dr. Had written "multi"instead of Progressive. 3. Tried to wear for a week. Still not correct.4. Had the Rx checked and basically was blown off by the Dr again..said I need small lenses. Again she didn't ask me what was wrong just started talking on on on again. Had another costco employee adjust the glasses again. Definitely would not recommend this Dr. Office.

It was a small office, I will give that to some of the bad reviews. However, everything else I have to say about it is only good. The doctor was kind and professional. I didn't get any weird vibes from him behind the closed door. He helped me get contacts in, then a kind receptionist helped me learn how to put them in and take them out. They sent me home with two different brands of contacts to decide which I liked. She recommended a cheap brand of cleaner, and I walked out of there only having spent $109. Very worth it.

I have been a patient for over 30 years starting back when Dr. Capper was at Vista optical. I was treated so incredibly rude by Terry the technician yesterday in public in front of my teenaged granddaughter that I will NEVER go back to that office and I will NOT refer anyone again.
