We had an excellent experience with Dr. M. DeStefano, O.D. at the Visual Symptoms Treatment Center. My daughter began treatment when she was 10 and is now 11. Dr. DeStefano officially diagnosed her with Visual Snow Syndrome and, for the first time, we felt confident that her condition was truly understood and being treated properly.
Since starting vision treatment, we have seen meaningful improvement in her vision. The specialized tinted lenses prescribed by Dr. DeStefano have made a significant difference--she now experiences clearer vision and no longer suffers from the frequent headaches she once had.
Dr. DeStefano is knowledgeable, thorough, and compassionate, and took the time to explain everything in a way that made us feel supported as parents. We are extremely grateful for the care our daughter has received and highly recommend Dr. DeStefano to any family dealing with complex visual or neurological symptoms.
Thank you,
The Hayes Family
I was referred to Dr. Margolis by my neurologist because they had heard good things. Unfortunately, my experience was very different.
First, they had me complete an assessment and claimed they were able to provide care similar to what I had received in the past and were familiar with it.
Afterward, I was surprised with a large bill, and they would not work with me to submit to my insurance for the coverage I had. They actively avoided me both in the office and through phone calls. This issue persisted and was never corrected, costing me thousands of dollars.
Later, I discovered they had no familiarity with the therapy I had previously received. The therapy I did undergo worsened my symptoms, and it was nearly impossible to speak with the doctor regarding my concerns.
On top of that, they were unable to correctly fill my prescription for glasses--sending them back twice and then ultimately giving up.
I would have to say the person who made this experience intolerable was the head of therapy, Dr. Margolis' wife. She was one of the rudest people I have had the displeasure of meeting. In addition to her general frustration with my condition worsening, I overheard her speaking poorly about me to my therapist and making insulting remarks about both me and my condition.
Those who work with patients with neurological conditions should have a better understanding of how to interact with and care for them.
Came to visual symptoms treatment center specifically for Dr. DeStefano. He is an expert in the field of visual snow which is hard to find since this disease is so new. He is kind, flexible, compassionate, and very understanding. Unlike a lot of doctors that I've seen, Dr. Destefano has a wide array of different ways to make life easier with visual snow.
I am proof that this therapy works. When I first started coming to see Dr. Margolis I couldn't sit in the chair without getting dizzy and almost falling to the floor. His treatment plan, the assistants and other doctors all helped me recover. The therapy sessions were truly two way communication. While I performed the exercises at home, the therapists listened to me at evey visit and tailored the therapy to me. I really think this the reason I recovered so quickly. In addition, before I saw Dr. Margolis, no one believed me when I spoke about my symptoms. Dr. Margolis validated what was happening to me and understood what I was saying. This was a huge deal for me. I can't say enough about the doc and his staff.
Dr Margolis has made a huge difference in our kids vision. He is knowledgeable and supportive and his therapists are all well qualified and awesome to work with!
these doctors were so helpful in getting my vision improved after my stroke. It was a long drive but well worth it. Thank you so much for your help.
Dr. Margolis, Dr. Destefano, Ivanka, and the front desk have been professional, kind, and extremely gifted in their respective jobs.
Dr. Margolis is very good with kids in the spectrum. He is very calm and patient with kids. He was able to examine my son without him getting agitated and used different techniques that was suitable for him. I highly recommend Dr. Margolis and his clinic especially for kids with special needs! The staff too were very patient and understanding!
