Chen Family Eye Care: Dr. Edward Chen OD

I went to see Dr. Chen because he was my neighborhood optometrist. I always support my local small businesses and try to avoid supporting corporations if I can. After my experience with Dr. Chen, however, I would strongly discourage anyone seek him for optometry services. He messed up the prescription for my lenses TWICE, no joke. I originally ordered no-scratch lenses and he put anti-reflective on instead. How could I tell they didn't have a scratch-proof coating? I didn't notice right away but after a year, they had aggregated scratches. I've had scratch-free lenses for 15 years since my first pair of glasses (that's 4 pairs). Note: I am very careful with my glasses, they're always on my face or in their case at night. It's inevitable, however, that small scratches will accumulate after even a couple months, which is why the scratch-proof coating is so noticeably effective--cause there's no scratches! So I returned the glasses, waited a week and got my news glasses back with replacement lenses for no charge. I was annoyed but a satisfied customer. I assumed once again that they had a scratch-proof coating but then another 3 months later I started to notice several minute scratches forming again! Not a coincidence. When I confronted him about it (over the phone as I had moved out of state by then), he became belligerent and rude. He is a brute and has an ugly temper. Oh, and I forgot to mention how he MANGLED my frames the first time he tried "fitting" them to my face after the first round of lenses!!! Dr. Chen is no good, take your business elsewhere.

Dr. Chen is great! Takes his time to go through everything with you and make sure you're comfortable with the whole process and he's very meticulous with the exam. Highly recommend Dr. Chen to anyone looking for a good optometrist!

I'm been going to him for years. He's easy to get an appointment with, very honest, and caring. I trust him with my eyes. He's a quirky guy, which I find endearing but some might find a bit off putting. Me, I recommend him highly.

My glasses are amazing, they're a lot better than cheap Walmart glasses. They have an AMAZING selection, I got frames exactly like what I wanted. Highly recommend.

Great work. I could see everything again.
