I went for a consultation on vision correction surgery. I was planning to get PRK, but Dr. Kraff was upfront and honest during the exam. he said my corneas were too thin and that if I were a family member, he wouldn't recommend the procedure because it would put me at a higher risk than average.
I truly appreciate his integrity and patient-first approach. He didn't push me into anything, he prioritized my long-term eye health. That kind of honesty is rare and refreshing. A side note, My uncle had his procedure there about 20 years ago and still raves about his amazing vision to this day. That's why I chose Kraff in the first place
If you're considering LASIK, PRK, or any laser vision correction in Chicago, I'd highly recommend Kraff Eye Institute and Dr. Kraff. Experienced, ethical, and top-notch care!
I had a cataract surgery by Dr Kraff and later was treated by Dr Wickware. My case was not easy one after old RK surgery and both doctors went above and beyond to get the best results. All stuff at the Kraff Eye Institute were friendly and very helpful during all my appointments. I am happy that I got dealt with such great doctors and will highly recommend to go to Eye Kraff Institute if you need eye corrections.
I got LASIK with Dr. Kraff almost 5 months ago and it was the best decision I've ever made! I had been wearing glasses since I was 10 and as much as I loved the idea of LASIK, I was always very nervous and afraid because I couldn't fathom something going wrong and never being able to see again. I made the appointment finally because an ad popped up on my instagram feed. I went to the free consultation with no real plans, but everyone in the office was so welcoming, patient, and kind that I immediately set up an appointment for my surgery. The day of, I was extremely scared, but everyone was very comforting. The follow-ups were just as pleasant. Yes, you can probably go somewhere "cheaper", but your eyes are not something you want to skimp on! It's been 5 months now and my optometrist said that my eyesight is great and that Dr. Kraff did an amazing job. If you're considering getting LASIK, I suggest you go with THE BEST, Dr. Colman Kraff!!
The Kraff Eye Institute is world class! I have been a patient of Dr. Coleman Kraff for many years. He has been steadily and mindfully overseeing my eye care many years due to my severe myopia. This is a condition that resulted in my being very near-sighted and dependent on contacts and or glasses since childhood.
He has been monitoring my condition and after discovering I had developed cataracts, consulted with me to determine the best course of action.
From beginning to end, the Kraff Eye Institute did not fail. Everyone that took part in making sure everything was a go did so with the utmost care and concern. It would be dismissive of me if I did not make mention that their Surgical Manager, Denise Hofmann was excellent at explaining the pre and post operative expectations and at answering the many questions I asked.
Dr. Coleman Kraff, Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for correcting my vision so well that I no longer require glasses in my daily life. I never imagined that I would be able to legally drive without needing glasses, nor have 20 20 vision with just some thin, light weight, low prescription glasses.
I highly recommend the Kraff Eye Institute to anyone wanting or needing eye surgery.
Sincerely
Oscar D.
I came back for a follow up exam after I was experiencing problems after a procedure, and they said they no longer accepted insurance for a checkup and it would be $320 + $140 for the checkup. This was after I had verified insurance with them over the phone when making the appointment (and it was insurance they had taken before.) They seem to have very poor communication and very little interest in serious aftercare, and simply said that 'insurance policies change over time ' - apparently even between making an appointment and arriving at the office. So bear in mind that what you are told about insurance can be very different from the actual policy on the day. No matter what they say, clear communication is *not* important to them.
Dr Coleman Kraff is truly a wonder. For years I have spent a small fortune on purchasing eye glasses. Reading, long distance and progressives where most recently I spent my days lifting the glasses up, down and in the middle of my face in an attempt to see. Although I have had astigmatism all my life when told so a prescription for another pair of glasses seemed to be the normal thing for my Optometrists to do. Well, no one ever mentioned the option of corrective vision surgery to address the astigmatism. Now that I am older I needed cataract surgery to address the transparent clouds floating across my eyes blocking the little vision I had along with my constantly trying to remember where in the world I placed my glasses. During my last eye visit my Optometrist suggested that I see Dr. Coleman Kraff an Ophthalmologist. Although I have heard of the Kraff Eye institute for years I thought they only did Lasik related surgery. Please note that it is only the tip of the iceberg as to what they specialize in by way of eye care. I was fortunate enough to get in to see Dr. Coleman Kraff, the son of the pioneer Dr Manus Kraff and founder of the Kraff Eye Institute. Let me just say after trying to get past the fact that he reminds you of a familiar face, Anderson Cooper on CNN, I felt assured that the windows to my soul were in good hands. He truly has a team of professional staff members which take their time with you as they do the preliminary work up prior to you seeing Dr Kraff. I must give a shout out to Justin one of many staff personnel and Denise, who will address any finance, scheduling and general follow-up questions you may have. I continue to mention to folks, in general, it is important that you be your own advocate and find those that will listen to what you have to say. This team at 25 E. Washington does so. After having both eyes done most recently, I see the world differently. It is a beautiful bright place. If you are looking for excellence in vision correction-related services make an appointment and ask for Dr. Coleman Kraff who has not only addressed my cataracts but the astigmatism as well. He is the best. Be prepared, have your current listing of your medicines and your glasses and noted prescriptions and concerns that you may have. Also be sure to write down any questions that you may have so you will not forget them because he will ask. As I am still going through the healing process I want to thank Dr. Kraff again and glad he is with me as I go through this bright new seeing journey in my life.
I'm so grateful that I found Kraff Eye Institute and Dr. Colman Kraff. I've been thinking about doing LASIK for three years and I finally decided that 2020 is the year. It's a life changing procedure, so I wanted to make sure I choose the best LASIK eye surgeon in Chicago, and then I found Dr. Colman Kraff. He is a true master of his craft and a pioneer in LASIK surgery. Dr. Kraff also cares about safety, and we ended up doing PRK surgery instead, because it was the safest option in my case. Many thanks to Dr. Colman Kraff, James and Kraff Eye Institute's staff for making my life better. It's a miracle!
Very impressed with the customer service and quality of the Lasik procedure I received. Painless and well taken care of the entire time. Thanks Dr Kraft and Wendy!
