I have been coming here for years. I see Dr Mizen yearly to monitor my vision lost due to IIH. He is nice and knowledgeable; better then a doctor I saw before him. But when a medical issue comes up that I'm concerned about he brushes it off. The front desk guy is rude. He's like a rude robot. Shows no kindness what so ever. So prepare to get what you put out.The older nurse who prepares you to see Dr Mizen is really nice. She has been there for awhile.

I thank GOD for Dr. Mizen years ago my mom was having difficulty seeing. He diagnosed my mom she had catarcts in both eyes. He did both her surgeries. They were a success I don't know if you remember my mom but she definitely remembers you and how you were so kind and understanding. You also took the time to talk to my mother about her concerns. From all of my family I want to say thank you.

23 years as a patient. I describe Dr. Mizen to friends as an example of what a 5 star doctor is. He the most brilliant doctor that I have ever seen and I have seen a lot of doctors in my life. He diagnosed me correctly and immediately when a number of other neurologists failed. I am 100% confident in his judgement. He has also referred me to other 5 star physicians. Two other reviewers are right that you will wait hours in his office most of the time. He takes time with each patient and they perform tests on me every time I am there. He also is a surgeon and has run late a few times. Would you rather he takes 5 minutes and doesn't give you a thorough exam like most doctors and you got in and out quickly? It makes me very angry to see other reviews that rate him low for the time that they waited, or that it takes months to get in to see him. That is common with most excellent specialists. Those negative reviews that have nothing to do with his expertise might keep someone from seeing an excellent doctor.

Dr. Mizen is extremely intelligent. He is caring and takes his time with you. He is able to describe in detail what is wrong. He is through in his examination. 5 stars to Dr. Mizen! On the other had, be ready to wait for at least 2 hours to see him once you are there.

I could not be happier with the service provided by Dr. Mizen and his staff. While its true that the wait times are high, I would gladly wait as long as necessary to be treated like a human being and to get diagnosed and treated properly. That's what you get with Dr. Mizen's office. Bring a book, make sure your phone is charged whatever. Great service and staff, highly recommend.

I was not able to see Dr. Mizen due to the rudeness and horrible manner of the front desk staff. I was referred by my insurance to Dr. Mizen as an in network provider. I needed an urgent appointment due to an acute medical problem that was affecting my son's vision. The next available was 2 months away, I explained the acuteness of the situation and then the person on the phone began to be rude, and suggested that I get a referral in order to be considered for a sooner appointment, I even agreed to wait the 2 months and take the appointment and then she refused to give it to me, she kept going on and on about what I needed to do before I was going to be able to receive the appointment ...We have PPO, and do not need a referral I verified this with the insurance, and I happen to be a medical provider MYSELF and have worked in healthcare for 18 yrs, I have never in all my years refused an acute appointment for a patient in acute distress, even if it is a new patient ...and I KNOW ONE in healthcare personally that would ever refuse an acute appointment, with at the very least referring the patient to someone who could make the appointment happen sooner. Hey, I understand if the doctor is so booked that there are no appointments available, and obviously if they are so busy they are not overly interested in a new patient. I am completely sympathetic to this as a provider myself, I am however, disgusted and offended that the front desk staff thinks they have the ability to triage, and even if the person who answered the phone does have the licensure to triage, she was extremely insensitive, rude and lied about needing a referral to be seen. At the very least she should have provided a referral and maintained a polite tone of voice. Hey I would settle for politeness at this point! She sounded annoyed and couldn't wait to get me off the phone! I wonder if Dr. Mizen knows about his front desk staff's bedside manner?!

Very pleased with the appointment with Dr. Mizen. I had a pappilodema, swelling of the optic nerve. I was able to get an appointment fairly rapidly, the office times was resoanble. Had a number of tests done by the nursing staff. Doctor ordered all the necessary lab test. Kind, pleasant, professional and very knowledgeble. answered all my questions.

I was referred to Dr. Mizen in Oct, 2017 due to vision issues after the an IOL Symfony lens placement due to a cataract. After significant testing, Dr. Mizen confirmed that this type of lens wasn't compatible, given a congenital issue. He referred me to Dr. Randy Epstein for removal of the Symfony lens replacement with a "standard" lens to correct my vision. The surgery was successful, as my depth perception and color temperature issues were resolved. Further, my clarity of vision (now 20/15) has improved more than expected. I just received my new glasses (5/21/18) and now I can see (20/15) better than I have in a couple of years. THANK YOU Dr. Mizen and Dr. Randy Epstein for giving me back my eyesight. Thank You to Dr. Michael Robinson for fine tuning of the lens prescription. If it weren't for Dr. Thomas R. Mizen, this may not have happened. I am sincerely grateful.
