I called the scheduler for a pre-op appointment 6 times for over two weeks without a call back; the Ophthalmology Dept. 4 times who promised to have the scheduler call me, but again with no call back; and patient relations 2 times with no call back. I spent hours on my first appointment and will now have to start over with another provider. I've never posted a review before, but never felt so helpless and experienced such obvious negligence. They don't deserve even a 2.3 rating and I'm sure many would also have given them a "0" if they could.
My wife is here for chemo and trial drug cancer treatment. Because of this office's very slow service we were forced to miss an appointment resulting in us having to stay in Chicago an additional evening. As I'm writing this I am in the waiting area at 4:55 pm for an eye exam appointment at 2:45 pm. We have ct scans, echos, an mri and each place we visited we were helped very close to our appointment time. Completely rude for the doctor to schedule appointments they cannot keep within reason. 2 hours after appointment time and still haven't seen the doctor. Awful
The check in people are not the friendliest. I think they want to just collect a paycheck but they should be held accountable. I think that this is cause for the bad reviews. But once you actually see the staff it gets a whole lot better from there. They are super nice and excellent at what they do. I saw Dr. Haddadin for an eye injury in 2023 and he was excellent and I just went in to see Dr. Adam Baim today for an allergic reaction to an eye medication that I was taking and he was excellent. I also saw the assistant Kylie. Both were extremely nice and helpful. Dr. Adam Baim is very knowledgeable and did a thorough exam on my eyes. He took his time with me. I never felt rushed. Just such a really nice caring Dr. Give this department a chance. They are the best of the best!
My mother was scheduled here as part of a clinical trial. They are consistently running horribly late. She was scheduled for 8:45, spent 45 minutes in the exam room, and when she asked a passing nurse when she would be seen, they just looked at her and walked away without saying anything. The doctor finally walked by and said he'd be with her in 5 minutes, and that they are supposed to tell you at the desk that it can be up to a TWO HOUR wait (they didn't). They don't care about you or respect you here. Go anywhere else.
I recently visited Northwestern Medicine Ophthalmology for an eye examination, and I must say, the experience was outstanding. The clinic's environment was welcoming and meticulously maintained, ensuring a comfortable and reassuring atmosphere right from the start.
Dr. Simon is a true professional who combines expertise with genuine care. Her and her team conducted a thorough examination, using state-of-the-art equipment, and explained each step with clarity and patience. Their attention to detail was impressive, and I felt completely at ease throughout the process.
What really stood out was the time Dr. Simon took to discuss my eye health. She provided valuable advice and answered all my questions with in-depth knowledge, showing her commitment to patient education and wellbeing.
The support staff also deserves a mention for their efficiency and friendliness. Khali Garland was also very patient and extremely kind. From scheduling the appointment to the final check-out, every interaction was smooth and pleasant.
I highly recommend Dr. Simon to anyone seeking top-notch eye care. Her expertise, coupled with a warm and professional approach, makes her a standout in the field of ophthalmology.
I am not sure how good they are at what they do because they made me wait 25 minutes in the lobby (until I walked out) for a scheduled appointment with no explanation. I am giving them 2 stars because they at least called after I left and offered to reschedule.
I respect doctors and health care workers. Many of them are doing their very best in these tough times. However, in return I expect them to respect patients. I and my wife have full time jobs. We have two small kids with insufficient child care. Taking hours off to see a doctor during a weekday is something that means significant sacrifice. Waiting almost half an hour on top of the travel time because people at NW can't keep a schedule straight adds insult to injury.
I hope someone at NW is reading this so that future parties are treated better.
They deserve less than one star. Within the last 6 months they have canceled my appointment 3x times. The first two cancellations were made within less than 24 hrs of my appointment times and was after I had confirmed 2x via their automated text system and follow up call to confirm.
The reasoning for cancellations were given as such.
Original appointment booked one year in advance: Dr. Koreishi had just that day decided that he would be focusing on a different eye specialty and also would be reducing his day to shorter hours. I had my appointment made for 1 year. Obviously this was not a decision that he could have made on a whim, so why wait until a day before a scheduled appointment to cancel? At the very least more advance notice could have been given and or he could have atleast seen the last patients on schedule. The next available appointment was 3 months later.
3 months later the same scenario played out with the other doctor. Less than 24 hrs notice my appointment was cancelled. This was after I gave the text confirmation and phone confirmation of appointment. The reason given, was that the new doctor who I had to wait 3 months to see was being moved to another office. Again the issue I have here is that this was not a decision that just happened, there was advance notice of it, so why does the appointment get cancelled with less than 24 hrs notice and confirmation of appointment. Northwestern should still hold appointments for those who have one within 24 hrs. At the very least another appointment should have been able to be scheduled within that same day with another doctor. Instead I was told that I would have to re-book and wait another 2 months.
2 Months went by and guess what, again after confirming the appointment via text, I got a call saying that the doctor would have to be re-schedule yet again. The only thing they did a bit better here was give me 2 days of notice. When I asked for another appointment they said 3 weeks out.
This department needs to get their act together. I have had to take days off of work and re-arrange travel due to their ineptness. I have always had good experiences with Northwestern for the last 12 years. But this department is a complete disappointment. I need to get new glasses but cannot do so without a new prescription, this is in addition to my need for annual check ups for my underlying eye conditions.
They exhibit an utter disregard for patient care or concern.
Dr. Avery Thau is very efficient, flexible and accommodating with the eye issues I was having. His staff returned my FMLA and paperwork quickly. Dr Sakulsom and Dr. Sigulinsky are also very good at providing glasses and contacts.
