Update: While I still love Dr Stone the billing office is a disaster so I won't be going back. Imagine getting a bill (for something unanticipated) EIGHT (8) MONTHS afterwards and after the Aetna Advantage Payflex card expired. (Aetna is a different nightmare). And the bill itself contains errors. Doc, I hope you can find more competent billers. Love this eye doc! One of the very best I've been to. Am seeing so well after cataract surgery on both eyes. His team is good as well. Both the doc and his assistant take their time and answer all questions. Highly recommend!

EDIT/Update: Interesting that there was a five-star review posted just hours after I left my one-star review when no one had reviewed the place in over a year. I'm fairly certain this review was created by someone related to the office manager because 1) Who would remember the name of the receptionist? and 2) The person who left the review (Janet Segura) has the same last name as the manager (Toni Segura). This tells you everything you need to know about this place. Instead of taking the constructive feedback that I left and improving their office, Stone Eye Center creates fake reviews to increase their abysmal ratings on google. Original Review: I should have paid attention to the other one-star review but I didn't. Where do I even start? When I entered the waiting room, I thought I was in the wrong place. The waiting room is tiny and looks 30+ years old. Then the receptionist tried to make me pay over $220 upfront because that was my estimated balance after insurance. I knew this could not be correct because 1) I had met my OOP max on my health insurance and 2) I had a $25 copay on VSP. I had to wait 45 minutes for the office manager to confirm this. Stone Eye Center is not following proper billing practices because there is no way to know what the correct patient responsibility is unless you first bill the primary insurance (medical) and then bill the secondary insurance (vision) sequentially (due to coordination of benefits between medical and vision insurances). I finally get taken back by someone who seemed like it was their first day on the job. She had no idea how to operate the equipment and had to ask for help multiple times slowing the process down further. Then the doctor finally came in (who was not Dr. Stone and is not even mentioned on the website). The doctor then wants me to come back for more testing in 4-6 weeks for reasons that were not explained to me. I made the appointment at that time because I just wanted to get out of the office. Once I took the elevator down, I realized the office didn't give me my updated prescription (which was the entire point of the visit and had mentioned that multiple times). I had to go back and explicitly ask for my prescription and was notified that the receptionist had scheduled me for the incorrect day and had to spend time changing the appointment I had just made. It took over 2 hours for a routine eye exam. The office is poorly managed, staff are not competent, and would not recommend the doctor (whoever she was) as I have no clue why she wanted more testing. This morning I scheduled a second opinion with UChicago Medicine and cancelled my appointment with Stone Eye Center as I will not be returning.

The office did a careful and detailed eye exam. I've had two successful minor procedures performed by Dr. Stone. I was pleased and surprised that Dr. Stone personally called me after each procedure to make sure I was doing OK. In addition to being a skillful surgeon, he is a very kind and thoughtful person. I have recommended him to friends.

I've had very good eye care for multiple problems, including glaucoma, cataracts, and vision problems including astigmatism. My vision has been stabilized, and I now use glasses only for reading.

Do not go here. They may charge your vision and medical insurance the same thing. Double dipping on payments. Also, the refuse to give your prescription unless coming in and charging more. They do not return calls. Very bad customer service. If you go, watch every move and get items up front.
