Visionworks Southgate

My original location on Elston was relocated to Canal for renovation so I was bummed out about that however, Jasmine made this experience so much easier and she was helpful and thoughtful. The Doctor was great and made everything easy for me to understand. Overall I ended up enjoying the experience however, if you could get your glasses within that time I would early give 5 stars to Vision works. Also maybe some more variety in designer brands would be nice, perhaps now just asking for to much.

Extremely rude receptionist who had no empathy for the fact that my appointment was canceled because I did not "verbally confirm" my appointment, which apparently we are required to do before an appointment, though I was not made aware and then she did not reschedule me for an appointment until I requested multiple times. At the end of it, I asked if our in-person discussion counted as verbal confirmation for the rescheduled appointment and she said no but that she would override the system because she didn't want to deal with me anymore. I was in tears during that conversation because I was having an extremely difficult week, I had changed my schedule to leave work early, I was sick (not contagious) and exhausted, and had to walk through freezing temperature to get to this store. I understand she couldn't do anything about it, but the least she could have done was show some kindness in how she spoke to me after clearly seeing how distressing and inconvenient this entire situation was for me. The whole time she acted like I was the one who was being inconvenient for trying to understand why my appointment had been canceled and given to someone else without my consent.

I've been a customer here for over a decade. I've gotten thousands of dollars worth of exams and corrective lenses here. I had some good and some not-so-great experiences with this business but today was the final straw. I was the last appointment for the day and was turned away while attempting to check in. I was told it was because I was ONE MINUTE outside of the 10 minute grace period. In the time it took me to walk from the door to the desk, the clock ticked and I was told they wouldn't see me. I had planned to get an eye exam and purchase multiple pairs of glasses and contacts. I make a habit of not begging a business to accept my money so I won't be back.

Another year, another incompetent employee. This Visionworks constantly delivers subpar service for the simplest of tasks. I received a voicemail saying my appointment was scheduled incorrectly and they didn't open until 10 AM. I show up at 10 AM and the employee looks at me like I a speaking French until I read off the voicemail word for word. The employee that left the voicemail, Tia, then speaks up and says they had a provider come in early so I could have made my original appointment (only they didn't call to inform me of this) and then Tia says they have appointments already waiting so they can't see me. Excellent work there Visionworks! Tell me not to come at my scheduled time then don't call to inform me I could be there at that time. Done with this location and this company.

I took my kids and I to the eye doctor this past weekend. We went here 2 yrs ago, we had a great experience. But this year was bad. The eye doctor was great but Amber had a nasty attitude as if she didn't want to help me and my kids. My 16 year ask me what was her problem. I said I did not know. I will not return. It sad that with so much going on that ppl are rude for no reason.she did not want to clean the machine before putting it on my son face.when i ask her to clean it she rolled her eyes.i don't want to say she racist but she was smiling and pleasant with the other couple that was not African American.

The entire staff was very pushy on add ons and really fluffing the bill. Then when we were upset the optometrist Garcia was very rude to my wife. We left not purchasing anything and my wife is in tears. I can not believe the lack of professionalism from a doctor. This is very distressing, I would avoid this place like the plague. I use to go to vision works but due to this one location staff I will never be going back again and highly recommend others avoid at a minimum this location, if not the company in general!

Extremely rude the people working until close today (Mexican guy, and black girl) huffing and puffing as if your bothering them or inconveniencing them when I'm a paying customer and this is their job it was 6 o'clock and when I asked for further assistance with picking a second pair of glasses they told me that they close at seven. It was 5:55 PM. I'm going to call Corporate and I'm never coming back to this location. I thought it would've been more professional Since it's a downtown location Never again I even left out and tried to call back to get their names to report them and every time they picked up the phone and said please hold they hung up. I told the black girl I was sorry that she was huffing and puffing as If I was bothering her and she said she's just tired. I'm tired too. I just got off work. I wanted an earlier appointment. I had to come at 5 PM. You don't see me huffing and puffing

On July 17, 2025, upon entering the store, a woman who identified herself as Jessica loudly asked, "How can I help you?"--despite standing more than 30 feet away from the entrance. I moved closer and explained that we had been in the store a few days earlier and had returned to provide additional insurance information. She immediately responded that she had already closed her register and could not assist us. I expressed concern, noting that the store's posted hours are until 7:00 PM, but she insisted that she closes her register 15 minutes before closing. The interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional--an unfortunate example of poor customer service. I will never recommend this place to anyone.
