Wicker Park Eye Center

Eye exam was rushed and inattentive, and the prescription I was given was incorrect -- it caused headaches and visual strain after I got my glasses. I ended up having to get a second exam elsewhere, where the correct prescription was given. Naturally, I also needed to replace my glasses. I just paid for everything and moved on with my life. No harm no foul, just a couple hundred dollars extra - no big deal. Six months later, a bill from this clinic suddenly shows up. Obviously, I called to request a partial adjustment since the original service was not performed correctly. Instead of any accountability, I was met with: "Why did you wait six months to call?" and "Why didn't you come back so we could fix it?" For the record: - The bill arrived six months later. Unless a time machine exists, calling earlier wasn't an option. - Returning to the provider who got the prescription wrong the first time made absolutely no sense. I genuinely tried to work out a reasonable solution. The clinic had already been paid by my insurance, so it's not as if adjusting my portion would have cost them anything meaningful. Why they'd insist on squeezing an extra couple hundred dollars out of a patient for an incorrect service is beyond me. When I mentioned leaving a review and filing a complaint with the Optometric Licensing and Disciplinary Board, the response I received was simply: "Whatever you choose to do -- your choice." I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable -- just basic accountability for a service that wasn't done correctly. Unfortunate attitude, and even more unfortunate service.

I appreciate the team approach by the front office staff. I also appreciate that doctor shah and her staff were attentive and listened to the information I shared. They very incredibly thorough in their tests and screening. The equipment is the latest in tech. I also love that the Doppler is in house to test blood flow to the head. Bonus are dr tepper's colorful paintings on the walls. Overall we are quite pleased with this office.

Their reputation online precedes them...I see why it's pretty low...I've been there a few times, the doctors are okay but the front desk receptionists are rude and disrespectful. I'm pretty sure they act like this because they receive a lot of clients and serve Medicaid & Medicare patients but it's a real shame and off putting....until they have a turn around away from those rude sassy young women who gossip in the office instead of actually being nice to the customers & patients I suggest going somewhere else.

Receptionist/front desk staff inaccurately told me Dr Shah is in network when she isn't. They only inform me 3 visits later that insurance isn't covering my visits, incorrectly saying it's because of a missing referral. In addition to charging me hundreds of dollars for giving me false information, my eye problem wasn't even properly treated. Dr Shah seems to be utilizing trial and error as her treatment approach, wasting time and money and visits and worsening symptoms. To make it even worse, they refused to acknowledge they made any sort of mistake. Terrible place. Zero accountability. Avoid.

Wicker Park Eye Center provided an excellent experience. The entire staff was polite, professional, and took the time to explain every step of the process. I felt well cared for and informed throughout my visit. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality eye care

Dr. Tepper is amazing. Many years ago he took out a metal fragment from my husband's eye, and now he is taking care of my father's mature cataract. It's pretty severe, got pushed back due to covid, my mother passing away, my child having surgery, and now he is on track to seeing better. I am so glad my father (my only parent left) is in wonderful, experienced hands. The office is amazing, has beautiful artwork, clean, very detail oriented and does all the necessary testing required for surgery. Even a well thought of "cataract bag" with all the essentials for a healthy surgery. This was a big problem when we tried to go through holy cross. A month to do each test (at holy cross) and then a month for results, then another test. At Wicker Park Eye Center it's all done here, no miscommunication, and everyone from front desk to the techs are wonderful. I am so thankful that my father can enjoy his senior years with his vision better and watch his grandchildren grow and improve his quality of life.

Dr. Tepper is matter-of-fact and direct, and I have grown to have a sense of comfort and confidence in Wicker Park Eye Center. Staff is very laid-back and kind.

I have been a patient of Dr. Tepper for over a decade. He has provided the best of care, not only in treating my eye condition, but counseling me on my nutritional health as well.
