My mother has had issues with getting glasses. This is the 2nd time her glasses were not correct and had to be sent back to the lab. Her appointment was Dec 26th. Went in on Jan 6th to pick up glasses, headed home and she said she was seeing double. Turned around and took them back. The lab did not follow prescription, so we had to send them back. We were told that they would push these through due to the fact this is the 2nd time this has happened with her glasses. Called on the 14th and were told they were in the finishing process at lab. Called today the 16th, and were told they were in the "finishing process". It has been 3 weeks since the appointment and we are being told it will probably be another week before they get back. I guess the finishing process 2nd time around takes 10 days, but only took a total of 10 days (with a holiday involved) to get the incorrect pair. This is very disappointing and inconvenient.
In short: A pleasant, trouble-free experience handled by knowledgeable professionals. It took the expected 2 - 3 weeks for the glasses to come in. My new Rx are perfect for my current needs. The prices are fair and as expected with my insurance coverage.
This is my second time at this location. We moved to this area last year. I didn't have a doctor yet when I broke my glasses accidentally. I went somewhere else in Elgin where my experience was negative. I came here because it's close to my house and I needed glasses made. My first visit @ All About Eyes was just to ask that they make glasses for me. I had my own frames and brought a copy of my Rx. It was just as I needed them. A soft spoken tech named Christopher handled everything and I was grateful for a pleasant, hassle-free experience.
This time, 2025 - I came here directly. I encountered Christopher again who took care of my check-in and the basic tests. He's a pleasant young lad who is not overly conversational, but neither am I so it worked out really well. I don't like small chit chat and customers come in all forms, don't we? Some like to talk and be talked to a lot and others are quiet or introverts. I went there for their services and they excelled.
Dr. Dracopoulos, aka Dr. Drake, aka (my fav) Dr. Draco - is very professional and knowledgeable, and I found her voice rather soothing as we went through the "screens 1 or 2" preferences during the exam. She listened to what I had to say and recommended the blue filter for my fatigued, watering eyes that get entirely too much screen-time. She had to make one adjustment to the new ones after I tried them for a week.
Both glasses have progressive lenses, but they are different from each other. I can't explain all of what Dr. Draco did, but I can tell you the result. I'm wearing my new Dolce Gabbana glasses right now as I type this. She recommended the best lenses for my profession and now they feel "cool" to my eyes. I can see my monitors without having to move back and forth and I can see what's on my desk.
The lab also created the lenses for my favorite Silhouette frames that I've had for years that are thee lightest glasses. The frames have to be fitted with the lenses a certain way and in the past I discovered not every lab can handle them. It's essentially frameless.
I'm grateful for Dr. Draco, Christopher, and the rest of the staff. I'm extremely pleased with my new glasses and the service I received. Thank you!
I think this place is fine, but they have some issues.
I went last year and ordered some new glasses and contacts, using my insurance to cover part of both. Then a few months later they bill me more, like double the amount I paid in store, from the insurance not covering all of what I ordered? I tried to get clarification because I have been wearing glasses and contacts for years with the same insurance and never had an issue at LensCrafters. I never figured out what happened.
I had an appointment earlier this year and needed a new contact prescription, so they told me they would order them and then contact me to come in and try them. 3 months later I hadn't heard anything, so I called and they only had one of the contacts. The person I spoke to said they would order the other and contact me when it was in. A few weeks go by so I call again. The contact is there, they just never told me :/ then tried to blame me saying I turned off the text messaging, but I got texts about the appointment I set up for the trial contacts. Then come to find out they ordered the wrong brand. So I tried a prescription, but not the brand I had been using. Luckily they did order the other brand and told me I can choose which I want. So then I tried to order the brand I tried on there, during my appointment and they won't let me because it wasn't finalized. But the other brand, that I did not try on there, was. Makes no sense to me.
The doctor was very nice and helpful in my initial appointment and contact try on appointment. If you don't want to have issues with insurance and communication, go here to get your prescription and order things elsewhere.
They were "fine" at best. Biggest issue was the doctor was not very attentive. Spent barely 10 minutes on my eye exam. Told him about some issues, they were brushed off, and I was sent on my way. Wont be returning.
I've been going here for many years. I brought my daughter in today and it seems everything has changed. The price increased over $100 for a basic exam and the representative couldn't tell me or provide any information as to what the exam includes. It felt a bit deceptive. I guess I'll look for another eye care provider!
I recently visited your DeKalb location and was extremely impressed with the customer service that I received from Gabbie. I have never in all my years of wearing glasses had somebody actively help me find the perfect frames. She was receptive to all of my needs, made excellent recommendations, and made sure that I was completely satisfied with my selection. Also, she was the best technician that I've ever had administer the various tests involved with my eye care. I have already referred numerous people to your location, specifically because of the service I received from Gabbie.
Haven't seen an Optician in years but coming here was a great experience the staff is very helpful and extremely friendly. Thank you guys for an awesome experience!
I can't say enough positive about my recent experience at All About Eyes. From the doctor's visit to ordering new lenses for my glasses + contacts, it was professional and easy to navigate. Chris assisted me with ordering new lenses for the frames I bought there a few years ago. The sight line on the replacement lenses could not be better! What a difference! And, they arrived in two weeks, as did my contact lenses. Thank you Chris and Dr. Miranda!
