Went in to pick up up my glasses today, the lady at the counter was rude & unprofessional, made us wait even though I had a reservation for a pick up time. When my wife asked her a question regarding "contact glasses" the lady proceeded to correct her with condescending attitude on the correct words. The doctor at the Optical area is kind and treated us well, however the counter staff was not. I understand that she is expecting, however it's not justified to treat people differently I non-customer service skills.
I had an appointment October 12, 2025, and the doctor told me she was not comfortable providing me an eye exam due to the need of a prism in my glasses so we ended up canceling that exam in the office so I can find a different eye Doctor who is able to do that. I look on my insurance and they charged an appointment which should've never happened since appointment did not occur. Nothing was examined. I was in the office for maybe three minutes. I'm so upset That this has wasted my time now having to figure it out with my insurance.
I do not recommend this office at all, not even due to the doctor really more to do with the service from their receptionist or whoever claimed that with my insurance. Horrible horrible experience.
I went to return unused contacts lens as the Costco website said they can returned. Employee named Laura with curly hair and glasses who also lies that she's the manager stated I couldn't return them. I asked her to explain why the website said I could but why she wouldn't accept them and she basically didn't have an explanation. She had a pretty disgusting Attitude even though I was calm and polite. I don't write reviews. I'm nice to service workers but she pissed me off. I'm the one who had to take time out of my busy day with my baby and drive to oak brook not her. I got on the Costco live customer service chat and they asked me to speak to manager and she basically asked me in rude way why I was still standing there when there were no other customers in line other than me. Customer service online said speak to manager and at that point she lied she as the manager (how I know she isn't the manager the store told me after this incident). I said I was talking to customer service online and showed her the chat from my phone and within one second she issued me the refund as if it was no problem at all. why did you waste 30 minutes of my own time giving me a nasty attitude claiming you couldn't give me one? Some people have no lives.
Dr. Emma Loyfman is a great optometrist and an even better person. I went in late last year to have my eyes checked, and really enjoyed my conversation with her. I've never owned glasses and needed something for driving at night in particular. She really dialed in my prescription as I had slightly different vision in each eye.
After getting the eye exam I came back a few days later to purchase the frames and the young lady was very helpful and patient also. A+ all around experience.
Thank you Dr. Loyfman really appreciate you!
This place is a real mess.
Just went to Costco, so my husband and I asked by the way, why he didn't get a frame last year, but the insurance was charged for the frame. The attitude of the first receptionist was quite arrogant, saying: Yes, although there is no new frame, but using the old frame, it was still charged. I said, show me the terms and conditions, the insurance company's records show that a new frame was paid. She started pretending to ask for my information, called the insurance company, and changed her mind after a while and said: Oh, there was no frame charge, just lenses. So I showed her the reply letter from VSP, and her leader came to help, and her attitude was a little better, but she was still going around in circles. In fact, I have already asked VSP before, and the VSP has already asked them to return the extra money to refund. In the end, because I said, I had an optometry at another ophthalmologist, and they asked me: did you buy glasses there, and I said, it was because I couldn't buy them that I found out that there was a problem. She was immediately relieved: the problem was found, because you authorized them and couldn't buy it. This lie is too illogical; I say no, I didn't authorize anything there. The person in charge said: they lied to you. Then she called the insurance company, and finally told me, it is fixed, if I have an optometry sheet, I can try to buy it. I said: are you kidding?
I will never come back or talk to these people. It shouldn't be so bad if they could have apologized.
Never been so frustrated, bye bye Costco vision!
I had my vision checked and new prescripts last July and then got a new pair of lenses on my old frame.
It felt sharp the second I put it on, but I start to feel dizzy after 30 minutes and my headache would force me to take it off after 3 hours. At first, I guessed it could be that my brain needed some time to get use to it. So I tried and tried by months, and it wasn't getting better. I finally put it in the box and waited until this year when my new Vision policy is effective and went to another eye doctor for cross checking. Finally I found out the reason, because the doctor from costco put some CYL number in my prescription which I don't need.
I went back to costco to find out why they did that, and the front-desk lady asked to come back this Saturday since the same doctor would come and check it for me for free.
Thus I came, and I was 10 minutes late, my bad. I was told to be waited for a couple of minutes, and I waited for about 1 hour before the lady told me that the same doctor would not come and I could talk to another doctor; and since it has been more than 6 months, I need to pay for the follow-up. OK, if the same Doctor wouldn't come, why didn't you tell me in the first place and make the appointment on another day? If you didn't know in advance, why didn't you tell me when I showed up? When we made the appointment, we brief chatted and agreed that it was a follow-up and check whether there were mistakes in the first prescription, and it should be free, and it ended up with another rule that I needed to pay. Even if it is right to pay, the lady should have made it clear.
Anyway, it was waste of time and money, and the only thing right to do was to stop wasting more.
I walked away, it is not a place I can trust and I will never come back.
Follow up after a week or so.
I went to another vision center, and I was told I can't have my benefit from VSP for a new frame. I contacted VSP and VSP told me I already used the frame benefit last year, which is not true. What might happen was Costco billed to my insurance for reusing my old frame.
This is disgusting.
Lauren in the optical department went above and beyond for us to make sure our daughter received her contacts in time to leave for a very long trip. She called the manufacturer to make sure they were shipped and updated me several times to make sure I knew she did not forget about us. So impressed.
Great deal, good Dr's. Whole set up cant be beat. Only down is the eye glass selection is pretty lame. Contacts are a great deal.
