Silvia was extremely helpful and friendly! We couldn't find my insurance initially however she was able to figure it out for me, dropping the price from a couple hundred to just 30 dollars. She also helped me with sizing and setting up a reservation on a pair of glasses. I worked with the female doctor and she was awesome. Explained everything to a T. Very knowledgeable and you can tell she truly cares for her patients wellbeing. Thank you!!!
I had a very disappointing experience at the LensCrafters location in Mellody Farms, Vernon Hills, with the exception of one doctor.
I originally came in for an eye exam in December, just before Christmas, for my routine checkup and to address pressure and dryness I was experiencing in my right eye. From the start, the doctor rushed through the exam, told me to "keep an eye on" the pressure, and issued the first prescription I've ever had in my life. The prescription was extremely strong and included a significant amount of astigmatism. Having spent six years managing optical locations in the Chicago area, I knew this was a drastic change for someone with no prior prescription history.
I proceeded with ordering prescription sunglasses, but once I received them it was immediately clear the lenses were far too strong. On top of that, the pressure in my right eye continued.
When I called to schedule a follow-up, the phone interaction felt rushed and dismissive. I clearly explained that my glasses felt incorrect and that I was still experiencing pressure and discomfort in my eye. I was told it would be an office visit, which I understood and agreed to.
On 1/29/2026, I returned primarily to have my eye health evaluated. I informed the front desk that although my prescription needed to be checked, my main concern was ongoing pressure, mild pain, and dryness in my eye. Despite repeatedly explaining this, staff insisted I could not be seen for a prescription check without bringing my glasses--even though I continued to state that my priority was my eye health, not the RX.
I was rudely interrupted multiple times and dismissed by the manager, who seemed far more concerned with clarifying billing codes than actually listening to why I was there. I fully understood I was paying for an office visit, yet that point was repeatedly pushed while my symptoms were ignored. At one point, it genuinely felt like they were prepared to send me home--despite me reporting pain and pressure in my eye--just to retrieve my glasses.
Eventually, I was allowed to see Dr. Ashley Plotkin before any additional testing, and she was the one bright spot in this experience. She listened, took her time, and conducted a thorough exam. As it turns out, my prescription was significantly incorrect, and I was diagnosed with corneal keratitis in my right eye, reduced tear break-up time (TBUT), enlarged optic nerves in both eyes, and increased blood vessel presence. I was also referred to an ophthalmologist and advised to be seen immediately.
I find it completely unacceptable that:
I had to pay for another office visit to identify issues that should have been caught during my initial exam, and
Staff nearly turned away a patient actively experiencing eye pain and pressure over procedural rigidity and poor communication.
Aside from one tall young woman at the front who showed some professionalism, the rest of the staff appeared to forget they are in the customer service industry. Dr. Plotkin was excellent, but due to the behavior of the staff and management, I have no intention of spending my money at this location again.
LensCrafters -- please do better. Your staff needs training on listening to patients, prioritizing eye health, and basic customer service.
came here after another lenscrafters location couldnt adjust and modify my glasses bought at lenscrafters properly to fit my face. the service here was quick. knowledgeable, and the staff were friendly. this will be my new go to lenscrafters location.
Jazmin was super sociable, friendly, and transparent. I had a lovely experience with her as my sales associate at LensCrafters in Vernon Hills. From the moment I walked in, she was attentive to my needs, checking in to see if I needed help and following up until I was ready. She made my entire visit pleasant, and I'm so happy she helped me pick the perfect pair of glasses! 10/10 -- definitely recommend!
Diane (226715) did a fantastic job. She was very easy to work with, worked tirelessly to find me the correct frames, and when my insurance ran into some issues, she worked really hard to help find the solution. I cannot recommend highly enough.
Loyal LensCrafters customer. Experience with 2 other locations. From my first outreach by phone to receiving my prescription, the service was outstanding. Tammy, Sylvia and Diane were attentive and accommodating. Dr. Greenfield understood my vision needs and delivered! This location is impressive in size and design.
This lenscrafters location is the worst location i have ever come across. The optometrist is quite ok, however the staff especially one of the senior ones is extremely rude.
My wife got her prescrption glasses made and the screw of the frame came out within 2 months of usage. what an astounding quality. in that week my wife was travelling and had no time to visit the shop and get it fixed so we made a "bandaid" fix and got it to work thinking we will go back to the store the first chance after she gets back.
We go to the store and face this extremely rude staff i am guessing she is the store manager judging from her overall demeanor. she was loud and rude and told us that she will not help because she does not want to take any liability i taking out the screw that i had to put as a fix. first where is the apoology that the glass frame broke within 2 months of usage?? where is the ownership of selling such a subpar quality frane? second of all you have to so is to take out the screw which is already in there and fix the lens or replace the lens to honor the commitment to your so called customer service?
On top of that you are loud and rude?? if you dont like to do your job dont do it. sit at home. Or do you show your obnoxious behaviour to customers with darker skin shades?
We will not go back to this location at all and have cancelled all our future appointments. i hope having such a worthless staff is worth having.
The service and selection are great. The IT is horrible! Call us at 12345? Are you serious? And the Google and Facebook logins on the website don't work and neither does reset password! So you're making it impossible for me to get reimbursed. I cannot believe a company of this size with this brand would have such a garbage online user experience. Get it together. I'm going back to Warby Parker.
