Bad, Bad Business! I am 58 years old, and have been wearing glasses since the age of 2! So needless to say, I am very familiar with how long it usually takes to get my lenses put in a frame. Never have I had to wait over 2 weeks! I now feel like I am suffering from "buyers remorse." I took a very expensive frame to Moses to have lens put in the frame. I only went to Moses because I knew they had an "in-house" lab and I needed the glasses quickly. I did not want to wait the normal 2 weeks because I wanted to wear them for a few special occasions that I had coming up. What a HUGE MISTAKE! Every occasion that I wanted to wear them for has come and gone! It has been a month and I still don't have my glasses. At the time of purchase, the tech stated the glasses would be ready in two weeks. It's been a month!! I have been calling every week and they give me a different date. I was informed that they were at "their sister lab" and they were having a problem with the coating. I was surprised to hear this as they have been in business for years, it should have been an easy process. I am now afraid that they don't know what they are doing and will ruin my expensive "Cutler and Gross" frame. At this point, I just want my frame and money back! I would like to take them elsewhere, to a more trustworthy and reputable lab. I can't imagine what my life would be like if my current eyeglasses were broken and I had to depend on Moses to get my lenses in immediately. I would be walking into walls all day long. This is definitely not a place that I would recommend if you need immediate eyesight! They will have you blind for months! They have a very slow process and continue to make up all types of excuses as to why your glasses are not completed in a timely manner. I was talking to my sister about their slow process and she informed me that it took my mother two months to get her glasses back from Moses. I just wished I would have known this information before I took my glasses there. My final words regarding this matter is "NEVER AGAIN AND DON'T DO IT if you need them within two weeks.
Moses eye care
I am so very grateful for all the doctors and care at Moses Eyecare. For years I had been a patient of a doctor who told me I had the dirtiest eyes he had ever seen. Then one year I saw Dr Justin who was filling in for my regular doctor. He asked if I would be willing to see a doctor he wanted to refer me to. Of course I said yes. My dear neighbor had to drive me because the day of my first visit with Dr Rob Moses in Crown Point, my eyes were almost swollen shut. In her words, it hurt her to look at me. Before I had even sat in the examination chair, Dr Rob said, you know you have Sjogren's don't you? I had never heard of it. He referred me to a rheumatologist who not only diagnosed me with Sjogren's but also Lupus. I was assigned to Dr Nicole Albright for follow up and after being on the medication the rheumatologist had put me on, hydroxychloroquine, Dr Albright had me taken off due to further complications to my eyes. Dr. Albright has been my avenging Angel for every step of this journey. Recommending a Neurologist when I kept repeatedly falling hard several times a day. When they figured out the issue, I was referred to another Dr Nicole who put prisms in my glasses retraining my brain in a year. Dr Albright referred me to the Dr who performed surgery on my cataracts. When I went in for a routine check for my glaucoma after Dr Albright had performed laser surgery, she found out that the steroid shots I was receiving in my shoulder, hip and back was causing my glaucoma to be unmanageable and I immediately stopped the shots. I had forgot to mention the shots in my medical history because unlike a daily pill, I only received the shots 3 to 4 times a year and simply forgot to mention them. However, my eyes continued to become so dry at times my vision was constantly changing and sometimes I could barely see. We tried special contacts but they would immediately fog up. Sometimes the difference in vision from one eye to the other required placenta bandages to heal them. Now because of Dr Albright I am on Oxervate and after only two weeks she sees an improvement. I can't wait for my next appointment after the treatment is concluded so we can see how much improvement there is. I suffer from multiple autoimmune diseases and Dr Albright and Moses Eyecare is the one shining star in the bevy of doctors, specialists and multiple treatments I have endured. I am so very grateful.
This hurts me to give them a low rating but after several encounters I have to let others know how they just do not care anymore. I have come to know doctor Moses and his son and love them dearly as a patient for over 20 years. Unfortunately the new staff doctors included are just rude, and want to scare you into procedures you may not even need. I had an exam and decided not to be dilated and the doctor told me i would need to find another eye doctor immediately and not come back to moses so rudely because she was offended by me not wanting to be dialated and in her words " if i sue her because something is wrong with my eyes she won't be responsible"....I still decided to order contacts and when i came back to pick them up they let me know i owed $30 dollars because they under charged me from the initial $160 charge for only 2 boxes of contacts. I refused to pay more because of their error and because they are even cheaper on 1800 contacts. i was trying to support local business but...yeah moses I am done being treated like this. I asked for a refund she said I couldn't get one until 6weeks from now and it would be mailed to me. I wanted to talk to a manager and there aren't any managers according to her, only doctors and the doctor is with patients. People do not have to just accept this type of treatment. We spend our money somewhere else and let your establishment begin to feel the weight of those who are tired of being treated terribly.
They never answer the phone. They submitted a claim to my medical insurance without my permission and I'm just finding out months later after receiving a bill. If you go here do not hand over your medical insurance card! Highly dissatisfied with the lack of transparency and billing etiquette.
I've been a long time Moses patient. Everyone from the front desk, clinical staff, Docs, and optical techs are always friendly and helpful. I've never had a bad experience.
I just had a laser iridotomy by Dr Albright. I was unaware that she wasn't doing both eyes at the same time. She explained why and I understood. The procedure was quick and painless. I told her that I wouldn't be able to take more time off work in the near future to get the other eye done and she fit me into her schedule on a day that I already had off from work. I am so thankful to her for doing that! I'll never go anywhere other than Moses for my eyes.
Went in to order sport glasses for my son, ordered and paid in full, told 2 weeks. Went back 2 weeks later for my annual and asked for update- they weren't in. Manufacturer taking longer than expected. Once they're in 2 days to put in lenses. Okay- understood. About a week later my contacts are in and when I go to pick up, check again. The frames arrived 8 DAYS AGO but no lenses. Nothing I can do so we keep waiting. Finally we're nearing a month so I call and now the lens company sent his lenses to the wrong doctors office. So I call back to see eta for correction, etc. no answer. Call 5 times that day- went to voicemail every single time. Leave a very frustrated message. Then get a text the next day his glasses are FINALLY in. Great- it's the weekend and they're open til 1 on Sat. Go to pick them up-- NOBODY IS THERE. Absolutely ridiculous.
Every time I spoke with someone it was as if I was an inconvenience. Got different answers and no apologizes until the last person I spoke to when we had been waiting over a month. This situation has left me no choice but to get his glasses (hopefully Monday!) and then NEVER GO BACK!
Wish I could give them no stars, I've been a long time patient of their's and have never felt more worthless in my life. I was in a bad car accident in December of 23 and my vision progressively got worse and is too the point of me not being able to handle a simple TV channel flip or any flashing lights due to it. I let them know earlier in the year of 24 and they charged me a full amount even though they said my state insurance covered it, but that they can't work or help due to a contract they forced me to sign years prior in 22 after dilating my eyes and noticing a TINY hole in the back of my eye, I was told to see an eye surgeon in valpo right away and did and spent over $600 and missed a days work just for him to say i have no idea why they sent you here for something not worth worrying over... I explained this to them in 2024 at my appointment and the female doctor acted offended by what the surgeon said and told me that they can't help me at all until I see him again, I explained that I couldn't afford too since my car accident had cost me my job and she said welp that's our policy.. Not much of a visit since nothing was done.. WRONG it counted as my 1 visit per the allotted times via the insurance so now I really am having eye problems and am completely screwed until fall of next year 2026.. THANKS FOR NOTHING!!!!!!
What a nightmare. I go in for my wedding to discuss getting contacts. I was informed my insurance only covers one or the other . Which was perfect since I already have glasses I would like to do contacts for the wedding. First couple of weeks went fine instateted noticing a bump on my lid and sensitivity, I've called several times , left meats with my concerns. No response for about a week. Finallly get scheduled , get to my appointment only to not be seen. I was told I needed a medical card instead of my vision insurance card. And they wanted another $100 to be seen. If I known I would be coming out of this much problems and money I would've just gotten new glasses. I guess I will be wearing a stye now to my wedding in a few weeks!
