Focus Family Eye Care

I have been wearing corrective lenses for over 40 years and I've never had an optometrist spend so much time with me to get my lenses exactly right! Dr. Hellstern is extremely professional and dedicated and her staff is great as well. Thanks team!

Just had my first visit at Focus Family Eye Care and was so impressed with the Eye Doctor and her assistant! The Doctor took time to speak to me, ask questions, and listen to me. Highly recommending!

I felt very well taken care of from the moment I walked in for my appointment from both the receptionist and doctor. The doctor was very pleasant, took her time, and explained things very clearly. Finding glasses that worked for me was super easy and I felt like they came in super fast! Getting them adjusted was also super easy and were very understanding when my 2 yr old had to tag along and were very sweet to him! I will definitely be recommending them in the future!

Best eye exam ever. Dr. Hellstern is the best and is very thorough with her care of her patients. She takes her time and explains everything very well so you can understand what she is doing and the results of the exam. I love my new glasses.

I have to agree with the other reviews on here. I was very pleased and impressed with everyone here. Extremely friendly and patient. I took my elderly mom in for an eye exam and new glasses. The receptionist was extremely warm and friendly and Dr. Hellstern was top notch. She took her time with the exam and also took the time to really explain everything that was going on with my mom's eyes. Sadly, there are some additional things going on with my mom's eyes and she took the time to explain what was happening and gave us a referral for a specialist. Didn't push for new glasses as a temporary fix when there was something larger that needed to be addressed. Both my mom and I were very appreciative of everyone there. I will be back for an exam and glasses myself in the near future.

To make a long story short, my mother, who is 74, made an appointment with Focus Family Eye Care to get some eyeglasses after having cataract surgery. The doctor sent the wrong prescription in for the first pair she ordered. Ok, fine. Things happen. People make mistakes. I get it. But then she ordered a second pair with the correct prescription but the wrong frames! By then we had waited over 2 months, so my mom just asked for her money back (so she could take her business to a competent eye doctor). The doctor refused to refund her money (citing a no refunds policy) so the doctor has the money and the glasses! Steer clear of this one folks!

Dr. Hellstern is the best! She gave my son the most thorough exam, ordered his new glasses, and they arrived quickly! She also has provided me with eye exams and helped me find the perfect frames and lenses. I loved hearing about all the different lines of frames Dr. Hellstern carries, and the story behind them all! Such a clean, and nice Eye Clinic! I would recommend!

Dr. Hellstern has been my eye doctor for years, she has seen my kids as well. The care my children and I have received from her has been by far the most comprehensive and extensive exams we've ever had. She always take time to explain things to us so we know specifically what is going on with our eyes. My one daughter has cataracts which were diagnosed at age 6. Dr. Hellstern was the first and only eye doctor to explain to us the reason why, all the other doctors said it was a mystery as to why she had them at such a young age. I love my glasses. Dr. Hellstern suggested a separate set of glass just for the computer. I am on a computer 8 hours a day for work. Those glasses are a real game changer. The other staff at the office are always so welcoming and helpful. I won't go to another eye doctor, quite frankly Dr. Hellstern is the best in the Des Moines area as far as I'm concerned.
