Eye Physicians of Elizabethtown

This is NOT a complaint about Dr Smith; this is about the billing office. My wife and I have been patients of Dr Smith for years and both my parents before me also. He's a great and personable Dr! The billing people are a whole different story. My wife is a type 2 diabetic; my insurance policy states that diabetic eye exams are copay free. Every year she gets her annual eye exam with Dr Smith, and we tell the front desk soon as we check in that this is a diabetic exam for her. Every year the billing office sends a bill for a $25 copay, I call the billing office and get the runaround. I end up paying the $25 copay to keep from getting sent to collections. This year My PCP said I'm considered diabetic also, so as soon as both of us got to the front desk I told the lady that this is a diabetic exam for both of us. When we got our exams Dr Smith and the other tech asked me questions related to me being a new diabetic. Then both of us get bills for $25 co-pays. This time I called my insurance and was told that the billing office is coding the exam as a standard exam, not a diabetic exam. The insurance service rep said she would call the billing office to address the ongoing billing problem. Later the service rep called me back and told me that the billing office stated to her that there billing system will not allow them to input the correct diabetic exam code that the insurance CS rep told them to put in. The CS rep also said that I'm not the first person that has complained about this diabetic billing problem. Again, I had to pay both $25 co-pays to keep from being sent to collections. Both of us really like Dr Smith and hate to have to find a new eye Dr, but at this point we have no other choice.

I came to visit Dr.Byrd about work related chemical burns to my eyes, after confirming that there were burns in my eyes I was told "Dr. Byrd said she will not write an excuse for indefinite time off. If you feel like you need more time off, then she has told you then she recommends seeing another provider." refusing me the rights to stay home and heal from an injury caused by my negligent workplace. I now have to return to the unsafe environment with unhealed injuries.

The office staff is flat out rude. You cannot even have a conversation. They just wanna run over you like you're nothing. Whatever happened with patient first and I would not trust what happens while you are having eye surgery. Definitely find someone else.

Great staff, fast and Dr. Smith is friendly, answers all questions and a great experience!!

Wendy have found the care to be phenomenal! Hubs has major eye diseases and has been more than pleased with his treatment. I have very difficult prescription and am legally blind... Dr Byrd has given me the gift of sight for a while longer!

The staff was so kind and rescheduled my surgery right away after it had to be cancelled last minute due to the sterilizer at the surgery center not working properly. Safety first! Always appreciate the effort Dr. Proctor and his staff put into making sure his patients are happy and healthy!

I was simply inquiring about their services for my autistic 4 year old. She did want hear my questions and was going straight to making an appointment. When I didn't have his Medicaid number in front of me she was very short and rude. Haven't even been to this place and highly do not recommend. Only if you want to be seen by rude people.

Will update after my first appointment. The app was very easy to use filling out new patient paperwork. Speaking on the phone with office personnel was pleasant anytime I called for information. Confident that this office is worthy of 5 stars after reading others reviews.
