Wonderful experience throughout the whole appointment: Relaxing atmosphere; friendly, courteous staff; knowledgeable, caring doctor and nurse; and easy check in and out. I would highly recommend the Eye Medical Center to anyone for a routine visit or an immediate medical need! They were great!

Going through the process of cataract surgery is one of the most disappointing medical experiences of my life. At the end of June 2024, I was told by Dr. Dodson in Hammond that I would need to have bilateral cataract surgery. He shared the different options for maximizing my vision post-surgery, and I opted for the Light Adjustable Lenses option. I was told I would have near-perfect vision for the remainder of my life. After jumping through a few hoops, we finally got my insurer to approve the procedure and was told I would be responsible for paying $1,210 as my out-of-pocket cost for the eye surgeon's fees (Dr. Dodson's), as well as $1,154.70 for the surgical center's fees (Pinnacle Surgery Center in Covington), where the procedures would be performed, each eye a week apart. His office provided me with excellent pre- and post-surgical instructions. The surgery went well, and my healing was on track, per my follow-up visits with Dr. Dodson. I was then scheduled on Aug. 28 (a month later) to see Dr. Satya Reddy at Louisiana Cornea Specialists in Covington to have the Light Adjustable Lenses (LAL) option performed. Once I was checked-in, I was directed to an exam room, where a clinician asked, "Were you told you would be paying Dr. Reddy $3,900 to have your eyes adjusted?" I was incensed, to say the least. I responded, "No, I wasn't told at any point that I would be paying $3,900." [Above what my insurance covered and what I had already paid.] The clinician then said, "I didn't think you had been. We've had this issue a few times before." I then met Dr. Reddy, and I expressed my anger with just learning - on the day of the adjustment procedure - that I'd be responsible for $3,900! I told him I would keep my vision as it was and would leave his office. Dr. Reddy then said my vision would go back to the vision I had before surgery. As you can imagine, I was left with no choice. As upset as I was, I handed them my credit card for the $3,900, and a few moments later, I heard Dr. Reddy ask the clinician if the $3,900 had gone through. Once she confirmed it cleared, the LAL process began. Afterward, my vision was 20/25. What knocked it further over the edge was almost a year later, I received an invoice for anesthesiology fees in the amount of $90.48! Again, at no point before the initial eye surgery, was I given any document with all of these fees broken out. Had I been informed, I would have just had the cataracts removed and would have been satisfied with whatever my insurance covered, keeping my out-of-pocket costs as low as possible. Today, my vision is just a bit better than it was before my first surgery. I can still see long distance (as I could before), but I have to wear reading glasses for anything up close. My advice: Don't make any decisions based on what you are told or what you see in any marketing video. Insist on being given a full breakout of fees in writing before you make any decision.

Dr. Dodson and his staff were excellent. They accommodated me last minute as a new patient when my eye started hurting at work. They were professional, thorough, and made sure my issue was taken care of. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and I am so thankful to have been seen so quickly!

My eye was in a lot of pain and Dr. Dodson's office showed great concern and care. They fit me in the same day and Dr. Dodson confirmed what was wrong and had me feeling much better quickly. He is always kind and shows genuine concern. His employees are also very caring as well.

Dr. Dodson is amazing. He's a very knowledgeable and friendly professional. He takes his time to talk you and to answer your questions. His staff is always nice, caring and patient. I'm always seen in a timely manner. I highly recommend Dr. Dodson.

Dr. Dodson is an excellent eye doctor! He has been taking care of my wife and myself for several years now hand we have both found him to be very competent, knowledgeable, and caring! We both would recommend him highly!

Dr. Dodson performed cataract surgery on me in December, but I'm having a slight issue with my eye. It's nothing major, and Dr. Dodson has been working with me to get the issue straightened out. He's been very personable and explains things throughly. I recommend Dr. Dodson very highly.
