I was referred to Dr. Piccione by my daughter's pediatrician due to concerns about her eyes possibly being unaligned. The nurse who brought us back was wonderful -- she was patient, kind, and great with kids. She asked helpful questions about family history, and I mentioned that my mother had unaligned eyes. I even showed her photos of my daughter that had me concerned. However, once the exam began, I felt confused and disappointed. I was asked why I was there and if I thought my daughter's eyes were unaligned -- even though we were there because her pediatrician had referred us after an eye exam in her office. They completed a vision light test, color test, and dilation before Dr. Piccione came in. When Dr. Piccione entered, he briefly looked at my daughter's eyes using a tool and only asked if either parent wore glasses. I mentioned her dad does. After that, he simply stated that her eyes were fine, handed me a folder, and told me I could head to the front desk. The interaction felt very impersonal and dismissive. There was no explanation of the results or opportunity to ask questions, which left me feeling uneasy. At checkout, I was told I owed $150 without being given a clear explanation of what the charge was for. While I understand visits can vary in cost, transparency would have been appreciated. I don't know if that's just his personality or if it was an off day, but the visit lacked the care and empathy I expected. I'll likely seek a second opinion for peace of mind. I hope in the future, patients and parents can feel a little more heard and supported during visits.

I am so grateful for Dr. Piccione's kindness and expertise as he took care of my 4 month old baby. He and his team are absolutely wonderful, and Lafayette is so lucky to have such a fantastic pediatric ophthalmologist here in town. Thank you!

Excellent experience with Dr. Piccione and his office staff! My child was able to be seen within two days of being referred to his office--I wasn't sure what to expect because I've never needed a pediatric ophthalmologist before. Every person we interacted with (from the person working the checkout counter to Dr. Piccione himself) was so kind and informative. On top of it all, they gave my son a rubber duck to take home with him and he won't let it out of his sight. Extremely pleased!

I am so grateful to everyone who told me to take my son to see Dr. Richard Piccione! My son has extreme medical anxiety, and finding a doctor he's comfortable with is never easy, until he met Dr. Piccione. He's seriously the perfect doctor for us. We've had the BEST experience with him and his whole team. My son had successful double eye muscle surgery yesterday at Lafayette SurgiCare, and it went even better than I could have ever hoped. The professionalism, care, and consideration shown by every single person in his office is unmatched. I wish I could express how grateful I am because saying thank you is just not enough

My sons, ages 7 and 12, are patients of Dr. Piccione. From the very beginning he has been treating them. His eye exam is thorough, and his skill set is unmatched. As a result of his expertise, their vision continues to improve. His staff is pleasant and professional. I'm truly grateful for his service.

Brought my two year old in for her first visit and I was extremely nervous about bringing her in to the eye doctor. Dr. Piccione came HIGHLY recommended by friends, family, even co-workers. When walking in, the staff was so kind, friendly, and welcoming. We initially were called back by a tech named Allison that was so patient, kind, and helpful. (I mean, she got my 2 year old to let her put dilation drops in) She informed me of the process and how things worked in their office and was very reassuring whenever my daughter got nervous. Dr. Piccione was the most informative and patient doctor I have ever worked with. Told me about the options and alternatives we have concerning my daughters vision and eye health. Overall, the whole visit was outstanding with the doctor and all of his staff. 10/10 experience.
