I recently brought my grandson in for an eye visit. The receptionist was rude, and most of my experiences with this office over the years are the same. The front office people are very rude. Both eye doctors at this office are nice, and this visit, the assistant was nice as well, however in the past we've also had rude experiences with the exam you get before the eye doctor. Dr. Watson seemed like she did a pretty thorough eye exam, and recommended glasses. When we picked up the glasses, more rude treatment, and they didn't even bother to fit the glasses to my grandson's face. They said he could try them on if he wanted. We'll, maybe it's news to you at the eye doctor's office, but that's your job, for glasses purchased through your office, that you fit them to be patients face. Perhaps they were treating us like dirt because we had Maine care, but I've been treated like dirt in the past and I had full insurance. As an example of pricing at this office, when I had a previous visit I was quoted over $400 for a pair of progressive lenses, I was able to order them online for $125. I wanted to order my glasses from their office locally, but that markup is out of control. In terms of the office.... the front area with the waiting room, is a mess. The chairs were so gross and stained and dirty I didn't even want to sit down, I felt like I was at the DMV office. The eye doctors exam rooms seemed cleaner and modern, but they really should spend some cash on the front because it looked like a dirty welfare office. They will give you a prescription if you ask, but they're very snotty about. It's the law that they have to give you your prescription, but they sure do hate it because they know you're going to buy reasonably priced glasses elsewhere. It's a shame what American medical has become. There's just no way they can't afford to put some new chairs in their office and clean up the banged up dirtiness. If you don't mind the rude receptionist, the eye doctors are fine.
Great experience for my annual exam. My uncle was an optometrist and I grew up in his office so I have a good understanding of what it takes to build and maintain a successful practice. Dr. Norton's office is exceptionally well run and his manner is great. The office staff were happy and went above and beyond in my care. Quick, convenient, and top of the line equipment. Glad I found his practice:)
Out of our family of 6 - 4 of us now see Dr. Norton on a yearly basis! I cannot express enough how wonderful a practice this is! I started wearing glasses as a child in 1986 and can honestly say, Dr. Norton has taken more time to hear concerns or answer questions then any one of the Dr's I've seen (which is a lot because we've moved 4 times to different cities)! His staff is incredibly patient and curtious! From the moment you make your first phone to set up the appointment and walk in the the front doors, the girls at the desk are so sweet and nice! They're smiling and greeting you before you get through the doors!! Dr. Norton is fabulous with my kids!!! Recently my 16, 10 and 6 year old all had appointments and he took his time to make sure they really good see right with the prescription (or non prescription with one). After the appointment was over, we were greeted by the kindest soul for new glasses! The first ones ever for our 10 year old! She was awesome!! And we found some we really liked! She knew our insurance as well as I did so I knew we were in good hands! The way she went to work pulling glasses down for my son to try on was incredible! Especially when I looked at it and felt overwhelmed! I think he'll look sporty and cute in them! I HIGHLY recommend this office! You won't be sorry!
The eye drs are great and I am very happy with how they treat myself & my 5 year old. The optometrist we had was another story. We had a later appointment and she was very vocal about not wanting to help us get our glasses because she was leaving in 10 minutes. Told me we should come back another day. I explained I couldn't and picked a pair of glasses quickly. She then said I had an issue with my insurance and I needed to deal with it. So I called my insurance and got it straightened out. She never said anything about being on vacation but when I called the next day I was told I had to wait till she was back from vacation in 1.5 weeks to order. I had to wait for her. No idea why even though they had another optometrist. Then today my glasses were finally in. Go in to get them and get my daughter's glasses adjusted. Found out my daughter's glasses were too small so we went to pick a new pair out. She didn't help at all. Then when I was ready to order she was very rude about the rack I picked off and said "did you not read the sign" of course I did. And once she actually looked at my chart she realized I picked off the right rack. I'm not stupid. Her tone and words were harsh and rude. To be working in customer service I'm appalled at her behavior. We have to go back in once my daughters glasses come in and I'm dreading it. We will be looking for a new place to get glasses if she is the only person who can help us next time.
I have been seeing Dr. Norton for years. He is always polite and so is his staff. His office is neat, tidy, and clean. They are able to get you in on short notice and are very communicative about the treatment you are receiving and can answer all insurance questions. I continue to see him even though I moved out of the area.
Dr. Norton and all the staff are very friendly and efficient. I had very little wait time before being seen and given all the preliminary tests. Everything was explained every step of the way and I fully understand about my vision changes and eye health. The optician was very helpful when I ordered new glasses and frames, and explained the pricing options available through my insurance.
I have been wearing glasses since 1985. I have to say, that after seeing many optometrists all over the country Dr. Troy is one of the best. From the friendliness of the front office staff, to the technicians completing the preliminary exams, Dr. Troy, and the staff assisting with insurance/eyewear fittings...I was impressed and highly satisfied at every step. They were able to make a pair of glasses for my daughter that were ready and out the door in less than 30 minutes and they are correct. As a quality nurse and previous ICU RN, I know when medical related care is appropriate and of high quality. I highly recommend Dr.Troy's practice.
Dr. Norton and his staff have been excellent on all of my visits there. They are very professional and friendly. They are also very thorough and do all the tests and discuss them with me in a way that tells me they are truly interested in the overall health of my eyes.
