This is for the 5454 Wisconsin Avenue location. I can't write enough nice things about our experience here. I needed to replace my glasses and specifically looked for places that carried Face a Face and Lafont. My glasses are my primary accessory so when I'm ready I splash out. I felt like the minute I walked in, Olga matched my energy. She could tell I was ready to buy and helped me try on SO many glasses. She was patient, helpful, and warm from moment one, but as time passed she just became more personable and fun. Once she got the idea of what I liked, she started suggesting options. She was honest about what she liked and didn't like and she steered me away from some duds I liked for their quirkiness. She was a delight with my wife, too, and we really appreciated how kind and inclusive of her she was. I also really liked Gerald, the store manager. He gave opinions when Olga asked and helped me when I picked up my glasses. Everyone was just nice - they made eye contact, smiled, were approachable. It was a great experience and I appreciate that I felt welcome to have fun because I love picking out new glasses. I ultimately bought 2 pairs, in part because it was low pressure and I felt good about my overall experience with this location. I'm grateful to Olga - she's a great person and really made buying these latest glasses a lot of fun. Thank you, Olga!! P.S. I knew they didn't accept insurance going into it. They carry some of the most beautifully made glasses in DC so it was worth it to me.

My first visit with the optician was lovely. I told him I'd be back Saturday to get my husband's opinion on the glasses, and he said he'd hold the three pairs I selected. When I returned, he'd forgotten to put them on hold, sold the pair I liked best, and couldn't remember the other two. I asked another optician to adjust my current glasses. He did a great job, but when he handed them to me he told me how much he didn't like them! (These are a line of glasses they sell at this store.) It was bizarre. At that point, I decided to leave.

I'm glad I found this optician and optical shop. They listen to what matters to you and make sure you are happy with the product you get. I'm beginning to get cataracts, and they have been helpful about understanding the progression and how to manage it. I won't go anywhere else! March 2023: A year after my review above, I've returned to Voorthuis on Wisconsin Ave, Chevy Chase, and I've had another wonderful experience. These folks really go out of their way to help you get the best vision possible.

UPDATE- Voorthuis reached out and offered to give a significant refund to the sale while still delivering the full order. They apologized and explained they this is not how they do business and were concerned that we felt she was taken advantage of. **** DO NOT GO HERE!! THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ELDERLY CLIENTS!! SELLING THEM THE MOST EXPENSIVE GLASSES AND FRAMES AVAILABLE....PLUS UPPING THEIR SALES BY PUSHING PRESCRIPTION SUNGLASSES!! They take no responsibility and will not give refunds. Sales are final even though they committed elder abuse.

I ordered a silhouette eyeglass frame and paid $170 because one of the arms broke. Instead, they only replaced one headband for me. At the same time, this frame is not even a silhouette. I did not understand, as I was in a hurry to get on the plane. very dishonest employees. They probably think that since I am a foreigner, I can be deceived.

A few months ago, I saw my Eye Doctor, DR. NEIL MARTIN, he recommended me to have VOORTHUIS fill my Eyeglass prescription.I complained about my eyeglasses filled by APEX years ago which I could not use as I have problems with it. I used instead the old eyeglass that VOORTHUIS filled years ago. It was the Optometrist of VOORTHUIS who discovered the problem. The reading area was too narrow. It had nothing to do with the eyeglass material as I was told by APEX. You can imagine how happy and grateful I am to VOORTHUIS . Thank you VOORTHUIS, for filling my prescription, NOW I CAN READ without any problems even THE SMALLEST LETTERS. My very old EYEGLASSSES you filled many years ago saved me when I could not used the one filled by the other company. It stays as a 2nd pair these days as it is still functional. I thank Dr. Martin for referring me back to VOORTHUIS. Thank you to everyone who waited and helped me to fill my prescription this time.
