Horrible experience at this place. First, they tried to overcharge me my copay. At first I thought it was an honest misinterpretation of my insurance benefits so I called my insurance company on the spot. They confirmed my benefits. I asked the front desk if they wanted me to put my insurance on speaker to hear the information first hand or to call them directly but they declined and insisted they would never accept that amount. I continued speaking with my insurance rep and asked what I do if they overcharge me. She explained I would have to go through an appeal process. The front desk finally agreed to a "one time exception".
Second, the doctor told me my rx hadn't changed but when I later received the script from front desk it was -1 than my previous one. I called and they said "just try it out and see how it works." Ummm, glasses are not cheap. I went somewhere else for a second opinion and sure enough the rx they gave me was wrong.
Overall this place is unprofessional and I would not recommend.
My experience at Argos Optical was tremendously satisfactory. The physicians and technologists are professional, extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. As a customer, I couldn't be more pleased. Thanks Argos.
I have been a HIGHLY SATISFIED Customer at Argos Vision Center Gaithersburg, MD for a good few years now. When first becoming a customer/patient I initially met, and worked with their President Alex Finlelshteyn. Alex IMMEDIATELY made me feel beyond well taken care of. He is not only a Zenith-level Professional in the Optometry industry, and is also a genuinely great person. Alex works with you until 'mission accomplished'.
Argos Vision's store has a comprehensive inventory of seemingly every type/brand of both regular prescription, as well as prescription sunglasses. And, they also have a comprehensive inventory of needed accessories. In short, it is 'One Stop (Optometry) Shopping', if you will.
Also, Argos Vision has a staff of Doctor's such as Dr Elena Mier Trotter, and whom I have worked with. I have had several eye exams here. And no matter if I was cared for by Dr Trotter, or -every- other such Vision Physician professional, they ALL, and to a person, are Top-Tier professionals.
Additionally, and of great importance, and relevancy is that their front-office staff are equally top-grade professionals. No matter if one calls the office/front-desk, or needs to work with them in person, they make it incredibly easy to do so. In short here, Argos Vision while incredibly up to date -medically and technically- also has not lost sight of the everlasting importance regarding true personal service (no pun intended).
Zhanna (Finkelshteyn) at Argos Vision Center Gaithersburg MD is an amazing Optometry Professional, as well. When having the pleasure of being served by Zhanna, I have -every single time- received a level of thoroughness in service never received in any, or certainly from a very (few) professionals in the
Optometry, Non-Corporate, and Corporate Industries, respectively.
Just last week I had to visit Argos Vision Center for some new frames. Here, I had the pleasure of being served for by Zhanna. She was trying to figure out if my glasses needed either a simple repair with a special screw, or an attachment piece that was broken off. Or, would I need a new pair of frames.
At first blush one would think this is of elementary simpleness. However, not so. There was a lot of ground to cover here. And, I am not exaggerating one iota regarding Zhanna's proactive and thorough inspection of -every- last section of applicable parts inventory.
She covered more ground doing such, and in a (short) period of time that was surreal. Zhanna considered, and looked into every last potential solution with a level of concentration, and efficiency not ever seen anywhere. She diagnosed the required scenario of options, and within under 20 Minutes did so. Ultimately, Zhanna concluded that I needed new frames.
As well as, and importantly so, somehow rendered a temporary fix to the one compromised ear stem. This was Saturday/February 15th, 2025.
I was the beneficiary of good fortune, and GREAT service here as I had to be at a Networking Group meeting at a close by office park by 10:30 AM. To note is that I walked into Argo Vision's shop upon opening at 10:00 AM. And, had functioning glasses to wear to my meeting, and with a repair that has lasted me through the following entire week.
In the end, Zhanna called me 3 days later the very next Tuesday/February 18th 2025 confirming that my new Frames were in. Seriously? Who does this? Moreover, who -CAN- do this?
Zhanna Finkelshteyn, that's who. Her level of, and commitment to professional and empathetic service is just the way -everything- is dome at Argos Vision Center.

I'm pretty surprised by the negative reviews here. Argos is out of the way for me but worth the drive because they carry many eyewear brands that most providers in my insurance network do not. The ophthalmologists provide excellent care and pay attention to details overlooked by optometrists elsewhere. The optician Alex wants you to make a purchase, no doubt, but he respects your preferences, doesn't push if you have a budget, and is honest when the frames you're trying on don't look good on you. Satisfied repeat customer.
