The Eye Store

I love The Eye Store and John in particular. I used to go to one of the large chains. Then one day I needed frames ASAP as mine broke the day before a trip. John came to the rescue. I have been going there ever since. The quality of the frames is excellent, and the service is speedy but also of very high quality. I will not go anywhere else now. Highly recommend.

John at The Eye Store is literally the nicest man in the entire east coast! I originally went to his uncle's shop in Cambridge (Custom Eyes - also highly recommend) and then eventually switched to The Eye Store as its closer to home and my insurance changed. The storefront is lovely, his selection is great, he is SO kind and knowledgeable and I am very glad I found this place! Some ladies like to cut up with their nail tech or hairdresser - I like to cut up with John at The Eye Store lol 10/10 I couldn't recommend more!

John is the most personable and friendly business owner I've ever met! He makes choosing frames an enjoyable experience every time. He definitely wants you to be happy with the end result, and if you're not he'll let you exchange the frames even after he's made the lenses. John is also generous; he once straightened out a friend's frames even though the person hadn't bought them from him. I'll definitely go to The Eye Store every time I need new glasses!

I had a pretty scary situation happen this week. I woke up with severe eye irritation, went to urgent care, and then saw an ophthalmologist who diagnosed me with a corneal ulcer. Thankfully we caught it early, but I was told I absolutely could not wear contacts, and I didn't have glasses. We called multiple optical places and were told same-day glasses weren't possible because my prescription is so high. As a last resort, we found this store and decided to try one more time. From the moment we called and explained the situation, he was unbelievably kind. He immediately told me he could make it work and even offered to stay open a little later to help since I was in pain and had no way to see. When we arrived, he greeted my mom and me so warmly. You could just tell he genuinely cared. He went around the store personally helping me pick out frames that suited my face and made the whole experience feel calm instead of stressful. The frame selection was great, and he took his time making sure everything was right. In a situation that felt overwhelming and uncomfortable, he made it easy. It's rare to find that kind of kindness and willingness to go above and beyond anymore. From now on, I'll be coming here for all of my glasses and contact needs. I'm incredibly grateful.

Very disappointing experience. I provided three different insurance plans and not a single one was accepted, which was already frustrating. The first eye exam itself was a terrible experience. I didn't feel like I was being treated by a doctor at all. The communication was rude, and I felt uncomfortable the whole time. Six months later, I came back to ask about getting a second exam for contact lenses, and I was made to feel degraded, like I was bothering them just by asking. The lack of professionalism and basic manners made the whole experience really upsetting. I left feeling bad instead of cared for.

I visiting Boston for a weekend when I searched for same-day glasses. The Eye Store popped up as a top result and had stellar reviews. The next morning, I walked over to John's shop and was immediately warmly greeted by John. I told him that I wanted a pair of glasses to remember my trip instead of a cheap souvenir and he walked me through the frames. I quickly found a pair of Etnia Barcelona frames that really jumped out at me. I already had my prescription on my phone thanks to a forward thinking optometrist in Austin, so I emailed it to him right there in the store. He said I could go for a coffee and he'd have them ready by the time I was done. Maybe 45 minutes later, I walk in to my new glasses that fit great and look fantastic. The whole experience couldn't have been better. John makes good customer service, which is rare, look easy. Thanks a bunch, John!

I went in to get the nose piece of my glasses fixed and he fixed it in moments. He also went through all the selection of glasses with me to help me end up picking a totally different look that I really loved. Overall 10/10 experience.

The Eye Store is a great place. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and expedient. They managed to provide a same-day lens replacement for a pair of glasses after a cataract surgery. For this specific pair of glasses and lens prescription, they made the lens in less than 30 minutes, installed it in the frame, and checked the fit. I highly suggest people consider The Eye Store. Also, it's accessible by the Green Line Saint Mary T-stop (C-Line) where there's nice restaurants and an H-Mart for groceries. There's metered street parking for cars.
