I have been coming here for many years.I will continue to see Dr Bauer-Skelley. However, I will not use the optometry center any longer to purchase my glasses. Unfortunately I cannot manage the wait times. I still work and the hours are conflicting. Closed during my lunch. Wait times are very long.
Update: while checking out attempted to collect $ not owed. Optical department double billed in their system. Be careful. I had me EOB with me showing a zero balance. I paid for my glasses prior to leaving the initial appointment. I should have a credit possibly but will need to call back at a later time.
Let's see.. I will start with saying that I have genetic retinal disease as well as uveitis, mild cataracts, very bad astigmatism, near sighted and just a few days ago learned that I need bifocal lens as I haven't been able to see or read things up close due to the worsening of the astigmatism. Having issues seeing up close or reading is very new to me. I also with say I have someone helping me write this..
I have always went to Andersen eye on Bay City. Always loved the kind, helpful staff.. however on this visit I was not impressed with one particular receptionist. She was very condescending, when she asked why I didn't fill out paper work prior to the visit and why I didn't come 15 minutes early my reply seemed to not be heard. I wasn't able to read the forms to fill them out on a small device like my phone as well as I misread the appointment reminders seeing what I thought both mine and my sons appointment were at 9:15am not 1 at 9am and the other 915am. I did arrive at 9am which I thought I was early to fill out hard copy paper work as its easier for me to see..
The same receptionist came into my exam room while I was dilated and in a dark room which further exasperated the visual disturbances from the retinitis pigmentosa. I couldnt see anything on the form to read it, not even to sign said form. Which even IF the form was just acknowledging I am responsible for the exam cost, you NEVER sign ANYTHING without glancing over it. I explained that and she insisted on me signing said form. I was annoyed already with her so I chose to just silently ignore her. The form could have waited until I was back in the lobby where it is well lit and I am able to somewhat see.. I also tried to ask if I could list my medications within the portal afterwards and she rudely interrupted me to tell me just take the form with me..
As well as no one documented that they did in fact speak with me over the phone in regards to me being liable for the exam cost. This made checking in so much more time consuming and I feel a receptionist shouldn't be allowed into my private exam room over paper work that could have been signed while checking out!
I get I do wear corrective lens however my lens do NOT correct the symptoms of retinitis pigmentosa, uveitis nor the mild cataracts.. and just because I am only in my 40s a person shouldn't assume anything , listen and be understanding. Possibly even help! Hidden ailments are a thing and treating patients with respect goes a lot further than how this lady behaved. Shame on her!
I will say my review of 3 stars is for the actually staff that assisted in my exams, others receptionsits checking me out, as well as the lady helping with ordering frames. They were very kind, patient and understanding of my situations. They went above and beyond to get me a prescription that helped me with clearing up my vision for seeing far away as well as the bifocal lens for up close reading..
Remember to be understanding and compassionate with others. You never know what someone is going through and just because outwardly you dont see what visual disturbances I have doesn't give anyone the right to behave like this. Was never even offered help when I explained my issues.
Just remember.. be kind, and do better! Be more understanding to what someone else may be going through or living with.
I had surgery for a cataract and lens replacement. I was very fortunate that Dr. Pan performed my surgery. He totally restored the vision in the affected eye. He's a very talented surgeon and a master at explaining every step of the process. Very happy A+++
Was lucky enough to have Dr Pan remove my cataracts from both eyes. What a great experience & amazing improvement in my vision. Also all the staff at both the surgery clinic & Bay City office were so very courteous, friendly and helpful. I asked the young lady, who fits you for your new glasses, to help me pick out something different for my new frames. I've gotten many compliments, on them, in just the 2 weeks I've had them. So I must thank her directly, even though I don't know her name. This is absolutely the best place for eye care!
Every encounter that my family or I has had with them has been a nightmare. Oh, we forgot to call you, you have to make an appointment to pick up your glasses, we're sorry that we never called you back, I know you had an eye exam but your insurance doesn't pay for frames here, etc...
I recommend ANY other business for your eye care needs. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place or the only 20/20 vision you will have will be hindsight.
It seems that Anderson Eye is really limiting their family client potential by only allowing two family members per day, per family. From a customer experience standpoint, this rule is clearly not ideal. From an office and revenue perspective, this seems very limiting. And, from a family logistics and child educational perspective, it's a huge turnoff. We will be finding another provider that is empathetic and a better fit for the needs of our family. Doctors and dentist offices welcome family appts and I appreciate that. You should consider it.
I Love the cortesity, and helpful and kindness ,and caring, Adam Van Horn team for lasika surgery . There awesome. I loved how awesome Adam Van Horn is . Thanks I'll recommend u guys any time.
Dr. Pan is the BEST. He did cataract surgery on both myself and my husband. My husband had a very aggressive case and was blind in his right eye, after surgery, he now has 20-20 vision in both eyes. We will always go to Andersen for our eye care needs.
