Caledonia Vision

I had a great experience at Caledonia Vision. The staff were friendly and helpful, and Dr. Nichols was awesome! The exam was very thorough and she explained everything very well. I will definitely be going back! Plus they have a fireplace and really cool wood glasses.

My 8 year old son had an appointment and the staff did a fabulous job with him. He was a bit nervous going into the appointment but they made him feel comfortable and at ease. My 3 year old daughter was also with us and causing havoc the whole time but they were all very patient and friendly. We ended up needing treatment for my sons nearsightedness and was offered flexible payment options. At the end of our appointment I looked at the time and it was 5:30pm. There was no point did I feel rushed even though they closed at 5pm. I highly recommended Caledonia Vision!

I went here for a second opinion. I am so glad I went there. Everyone was very friendly. I saw Dr Jennifer Nicholes , she is very knowledgeable and very friendly, helpful. Took time to explain things. Really listened to me. You can tell she cares. She is helping me figure out what is wrong with my eye. I am so glad I found this place

Great service from the minute I walked thru the door. They made me feel like I was visiting a friend I have known for years. When I was brought back for my appointment I was excited to see the up to date technology because I have so many eye issues including history of a lazy eye, cataracts and retinal detachment. The $39 I paid for the scan to make sure my eyes are healthy was well worth my piece of mind. Dr. Plant was so knowledgeable and friendly. She made me feel super comfortable which means a lot because seeing the eye doctor has always made me feel uneasy. I was very grateful for her knowledge and explanations of what she saw when doing my exam. I am so thankful for the time she took with me since I have been misunderstanding my eye diagnosis for years. Lastly I was thrilled to see the variety of frames. Not only are there so many frames to choose from, the staff super patient while I took my time to try on frame after frame! I wish I could buy 10 pair! Thank you everyone at Caledonia Vision Center for such a great experience!! Can't wait to pick up my new glasses!!

We have had a great care experience with Dr. Nichols and her team. She is friendly, engaging and professional with both kids and adults, energetic and taking the time to explain everything. I would recommend this provider and her team for any age patient. Thank you, Dr. Nichols and team.

Very disappointed with my experience. Have been waiting 2.5 weeks for a frame order. Have never received a follow up call f informing me of the status of my order. When I call to follow up, I am promised that they are "looking into it" and will "keep me updated." Despite the promise, no call back, no effort at moving the order forward. Following up again only leads to additional frustration as they "pass the buck" to their "rep" who is supposed to call them back. I have to tell them to follow up with their "frame rep" and, again, am met with an unfulfilled promise to keep me informed. Will be looking elsewhere in the future.

My husband and I are both very happy with the thorough eye exam and also the kindness of all the staff. Dr Nichols is wonderful!

You are asked to sign paperwork which shows your insurance copay/costs, but the first exam they perform is a $39 upcharge which they DO NOT inform you about. This is a well-documented sham & ethical dilemma in the eyecare industry and I'm sad to see Caledonia Vision stoop this low. One of the staff tried to handwave my concerns by saying "but we've done this test for the last three years" which is absolutely wild. Being unknowingly charged for years does not justify continuing to do so. They even have a "one-time credit" prepared in their systems for when customers eventually find out. Thankfully the office eventually refunded these charges after several requests. A family member received a call for an appointment that they weren't expecting, and it was scheduled on a day where Caledonia Vision was not open (Fridays). It turns out the office called the wrong person with the same first initial and last name. This is just a bad double whammy of information mismanagement. They did not even read our files before seeing us. When the doctor asked if there is a family history of eye disease, the response was "yes... my parent has Glaucoma, and they are a patient here" and the doc was surprised to hear that. We have been coming here for decades. Yikes. Employees regularly gossip loudly about topics that are generally best kept in private conversation. Time spent with employees feels cold and uncaring. There's a weird social dynamic that can make your visit pretty awkward. During my exam recently, the doctor suddenly burst into laughter. We weren't having any conversation (see above lol) but suddenly she was in hysterics. There was no clarification and after a moment we just sat there in silence while she continued the exam. I don't know if she had a funny joke stuck in her head or if she was laughing at me, or something else? This office will not provide you with all the information needed to get your own pair of frames elsewhere, and I can understand that, but it's something that a small-town provider would do without question. In the past you were able to quickly get a pair or two of daily/trial contacts in an emergency. Now they will not do this without another exam which costs money. This is another thing that they USED to do but have since "outgrown". All that said, their office manager was responsive to this feedback in emails - but it really should be out there for others to see. We will not return.
