Hook & Eye: Vintage Bridal & Formal Alterations

I had such a wonderful experience with Allison at Hook & Eye for my bridal alterations! The bridal salon where I purchased my dress did not have any in-house alterations, so I had to find services on my own, and I am so glad I found Allison and Hook & Eye! From start to finish, she was warm, reassuring, and clearly a master of her craft. Her studio felt welcoming and calm, and she brought such a kind, personal touch to every appointment. My dress was intricate and intentionally structured, and she explained how much careful work went into realigning and re-seaming everything after making cuts, and honestly, you'd never know anything had been changed. The final result was flawless. I felt amazing in my dress and received so many compliments on how perfectly it fit! She also gave thoughtful recommendations on veils (lace versus pearl covered) and shape-wear (getting ones with structured cups), and even gave me the extra fabric for a keepsake (which I gave to my GMIL for a quilt). During my final fitting, she was also incredibly sweet and patient with my family, who had lots of questions about their own dresses. And before I left, she walked us through the bustle with a clear, step-by-step tutorial that made everything so simple on the day of. It was such a positive, personal, and professional experience. I can't recommend her highly enough, she's truly exceptional at what she does!

This was one of the best choices outside of my groom. Allison is efficient, effective, and providing an excellent experience. I purchased my dress in Nov. 2024 for my Sep. 2025 wedding from Detroit Luxe Redux and Hook & Eye was one of their recommended seamstresses. I made my appointment for July-September and Allison was able to fit my dress to my body perfectly. Her pricing included dry cleaning AND preservation which I loved. Allison is also very accommodating and understanding. I won't get married again (maybe a vow renewal) but if I did...I'd go back to Allison in a heartbeat!

My dress came with an overlay that I wasn't going to use, Allison turned the overlay into my veil and it matched the dress perfectly. I brought my dress in to H&E after buying nearby. I had asked if Allison would be willing to alter the top of my dress to give it a "deeper plunge.. Plunge with a capital P." And she delivered. She customized my dress into the perfect fit for my body and aesthetic. I felt she was patient and understanding of the pressures brides can experience during fittings.
