Amber made this experience amazing! She has great customer service skills. Explained everything in detail, gave options and more important, asked questions to ensure everything was processed correctly. Dr. Mauer was polite and professional as well. Would recommend this office for the service and great atmosphere!

I went in to get my yearly exam and safety glasses. The whole office was so helpful I ended up getting my regular glasses, safety glasses, and sunglasses too! I usually go to Costco but these ladies were so helpful and took measurements that I've never had taken before. They took time to help me narrow it down and I'm so happy with my choices. Thanks for the great services and even better time! I look forward to picking them up!

I had a wonderful experience at this RX location! From the moment I walked in, the team was friendly, welcoming, and really attentive. They took the time to understand what I needed and guided me toward frames that matched my style without stretching my budget. The eye exam was detailed and professional, even virtually, the optometrist explained everything clearly along the way and answered all my questions. I also noticed how up-to-date their equipment was, which made the whole appointment feel comfortable and efficient. Their selection of eyewear was impressive, with plenty of modern and stylish choices--I ended up finding the perfect pair. Overall, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great eye care and fashionable eyewear!

First Glasses: Was OK. Desk people are very nice and friendly. I told the doctor during the exam that I was struggling to read the letters and that this wasn't working for me. She told me that there was nothing more that could be done. I gave up arguing, and just accepted it. Was talked into buying the more expensive lenses for $120 more, "because it was the only way I would be able to improve my prescription" (Not the exact exact wording, but as close as I can remember) Glasses came in, and they weren't working for me at all. In addition to poor distance vision, I was experiencing unfocused vision up close. I talked with one of the consultants (Different than the desk people, not sure of the exact role difference, apologies), and they made various adjustments- None of which worked. I emphasized several times that I was having greatly increased vision when I tilted by lenses so the top of the lens was touching by eyebrow (Important later). I scheduled a recheck. Second Glasses: Desk people were still very nice and friendly, but I had to sit for nearly an hour past my appointment scheduling. Something about their resident eyedoctor leaving and needing to do remote visits. Remote doctor seemed a lot more competent than my first one, and if I had asked better questions I would have possibly had a better outcome, but I ended up in fact needing a stronger prescription with a recommendation that I get bifocal lenses to help with my close vision problems. I thought this would be default, but apparently they were entered without the bifocals. I gave them a shot when they arrived, and was still having vision problems, though things were definitively improved. I once again emphasized that I was having greatly increased results when tilting my lenses dramatically. Third Glasses: Since they still weren't working for me, I insisted on having them remade. The consultant I was talking to insisted that there wasn't anything more that could be done to make things better except get a progressive lens. (Which was something like $180 or $160 or something extra, on top of the $120 for the improved lenses)). Immediately everything was off upon putting them on. Even in the 'sweet spot' my vision has decreased, though to their credit, when I told my head up so I am literally staring down my nose I can see up close things without double vision. It is not a pleasant way to interact with anything. I also had a very annoying argument with the consultant where she kept insisting that the top of the lens was for distance vision, when it was in fact the middle that would let me see anything far out, but that's more just bad communication than a flaw in the prescription. She once again insisted that there was nothing else to be done, and maybe my expectations were just too high. So today I went across the street and into Costco, who has a vision department. Within 3 minutes of talking to the guy at the desk, just from me explaining the way I needed to tilt my lenses to see clearly, he identified that I probably need a 'Prism Lens', and google seems to describe it as a solution to every issue I am having with my vision. I have contacted my insurance company and am going to go in and ask for a refund Monday in-store. I will delete this review if I end up being wrong about something, but at every step I have told the staff that my glasses aren't working for me, and at every step they have told me that my only option is to pay them more money. Maybe it's just an unfortunate coincidence of procedure, earnest intentions, and incompetence (Including my incompetence, because I am sure I could have explained my issues to the doctor better if I had prepared more thoroughly), but my experience has left me incredibly frustrated.

Absolutely wonderful experience at RX Optical on Drake Road in Kalamazoo! From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly warm, patient, and knowledgeable. I had a million questions and they took the time to explain everything clearly without ever making me feel rushed. Wait time? Basically nonexistent--I was seen right away. A huge thank you to the amazing team: - Amber was fantastic during the pre-exam and happily answered every single one of my questions. - Lee was an absolute hero--he kept my energetic 4- and 6-year-old boys entertained and happy throughout the entire visit (no small feat!). - Leigh Ann went above and beyond to track down the exact frames I wanted that weren't in stock and had them ordered for me that same day. Even though they didn't have my frames on-site to try, the ordering process was seamless and stress-free. The whole team made what can sometimes be an overwhelming process feel easy and actually fun. This was hands-down the best eye care experience I've ever had. I'll be coming back to RX Optical on Drake Road for all of my glasses and contact needs from now on--highly recommend!

I recently went to RxOptical on Drake Road for my appointment and was surprised to find out I wasn't eligible for a frame benefit--even though I hadn't used my insurance yet this year. I was so confused and honestly a little stressed. Amber and LeighAnn immediately stepped in and went above and beyond to help me figure out what was going on. They discovered that another provider had incorrectly billed my insurance for someone else's glasses. Instead of just sending me on my way, they helped me contact my insurance company, walked me through every step, and even spoke with my vision insurance to get everything sorted out. What could have been a frustrating and overwhelming situation felt like no big deal because of them. They were calm, patient, and genuinely happy to help. Thanks to their dedication, my benefit was restored and I was able to order my glasses without any issues. I'm so grateful for their guidance and outstanding customer service. Experiences like this are rare, and it's the reason I will continue going to RxOptical on Drake Road. Highly recommend!

Super friendly staff, they really look out for their customers and help them find the best frames within their budget. Maizy was especially helpful and straightforward about the breakdown of what exams/frames/extra coatings such as blue light would cost.

I called last night to make an appointment and they mentioned about remotely and didn't even mentioned it cost anything and I signed the paperwork and they had to distract me and interfere with me when I was doing the paperwork and I forgot it mentioned about 44.00 and after my appointment I asked if they could waive it or take care of it at their inconvenience and they refuse to listen to do it and she was inconsiderate and very rude and she was snappy with me! Do nog recommend to see her and she has short hair and she was there today at 10:30 am at the front desk! Some people have no consideration and have bad reputation and shouldn't even work there and she was rude when I finished my appointment! I refuse to come back and see her,again!
