Dr. Adam Cieslinski is spectacular. Not only did Dr. Adam conduct a quick and painless eye exam; they also displayed a laudable degree of kindness and conscientiousness in the way they handled my legal name change. (The name on my insurance card hadn't been updated, so the folks at the front desk had a tough time matching me to my insurance.) It's regrettably rare to have a doctor who treats me this respectfully as a nonbinary person. HIGHLY recommend to all trans/nb folks in the area.
I recently went to the Pearle Vision at the Crossroads Mall in Portage Michigan to have my eyes examined and to purchase some new glasses. This was my first time at a Pearle Vision. I chose this location primarily on the strength of the positive reviews of their lead optometrist, Dr. Adam Cielinski.
The experience was nearly fully positive*.
I was able to make a near-term appointment, no lengthy wait.
The staff who greeted me, checked me in and got me started with a preliminary exam was attentive and professional.
I soon saw why Dr. Cielinski is so highly rated. He was patient, answered my questions and addressed my concerns.
With my new prescription in hand, I picked out my new frames from Pearle's expansive selection. Once again, the front of house staff were very helpful, this time in making sure the frames fit my face and the bifocal line was in the right place.
The lens orders were placed and I received a very detailed invoice and a estimated delivery date. My new glasses arrived a few days earlier than the estimate, and I am very pleased with my purchase.
*The only blemish on an otherwise stellar performance was with the communication regarding the arrival of my new glasses and their availability for pickup. I received two texts and one email letting me know my glasses were ready to be picked up, "Greetings! Your eye wear has arrived. You may pick up Mon - Wed: 10a - 6pm or Thurs - Sat 10 - 4pm. Please note, we are CLOSED on Sunday. Thanks!"
However, upon arriving at Pearle, only two of the three glasses were ready. I would have to make another 20+ mile trip to pick up the third pair.
West Point Optical Group owns this and 90 other Pearle Franchises across 10 states. I expect an operation of this size to have the sophistication of processes (whether manual or automated) to communicate better order-completion detail to their customers.
The staff at Pearle was friendly and efficient. From beginning to end, my questions were answered and I was treated with dignity.
The provider listened to my concerns about the status of my vision. After the eye exam, he explained changes he had seen in my eye exam, and a plan was developed for further care to improve my vision.
My son broke his glasses on Christmas Day and didn't have a backup pair. We had a flight scheduled for 12/27 for an 8-day family vacation, and the doctor's office where we originally got his glasses was closed. I stopped into Pearl Vision hoping they could repair the frames so we could enjoy our trip headache-free.
Unfortunately, the plastic frames couldn't be repaired--but the staff immediately jumped in to help. They found the perfect replacement frames that fit him even better and were compatible with his existing prescription lenses. They popped the lenses into the new frames, and we were in and out with better-looking, more comfortable glasses in under 15 minutes.
I truly feel like they saved our family vacation. Without his glasses, my son would have had daily headaches. We are incredibly grateful for their kindness, efficiency, and excellent customer service.
Eye exam on December 13, 2025. Standard single-vision glasses ordered the same day. The exam itself was excellent.
The problem is the glasses.
We were given a pickup deadline of January 3, 2026. Today is January 3. That is 21 days after the order, and the glasses are still not ready. When my partner called today, the only update was: "they aren't in yet." Staff acknowledged the deadline has passed but gave no explanation and no new timeline. The store did not contact him before the deadline passed.
This delay has real consequences. His existing glasses have deteriorated to the point of being unusable, and he depends on corrective lenses to drive safely and perform his job. Missing a promised pickup date for basic single-vision glasses, with no communication or urgency, puts unnecessary strain on someone who relies on vision to work and commute safely.
Waiting 21 days for standard single-vision glasses and still missing the promised date is unacceptable.
If you need glasses within a reasonable timeframe, do not rely on this location. One star.
By far, the best experience I've ever had! All of the staff I encountered that day were very welcoming, supportive, professional and made you feel like you were their friend or family member. I know a couple of them, this wasn't their "home store", but that did not deter them from treating me, or their visiting store, any differently. Highly recommended!
Our visit was seamless. The doctor and the woman who ordered our glasses were both phenomenal. Highly recommend Pearle Vision!! Also, my son was terrified of getting his eyes dilated and the person who checked us in, recommended another option. THANK you. My kids and I had a really great time at the eye doctor because of everyone who helped us.
Glasses are overly priced, the assistant store manager Kathy completely uncooperative, would not put me in contact with a manager to cancel my order, which I did the same day and they say now I'm obligated to the purchase. Highly do not recommend anyone ever going there.
