I had an eye exam late November, early December. The assistant to the Dr, was extremely nice. The Dr on the other hand was rude. Full of himself. I was born with a cataract in my right eye. It doesn't bother me. I had been to Grand Rapids Opthalmology and had a cataract consultation. I was told when it becomes an issue, to call and schedule to have it removed. The Dr. ran GRO into the ground. Told me I had to have it removed now. It doesn't bother me, at all. I told him this and it fell on deaf ears. So I went out to get glasses, the Dr. then came out and said to the employee, she can't get glasses until she has her surgery. He also have me the number of a Dr to have surgery with. I left. No glasses ordered. I had no plans on getting surgery. Then the Dr he'd referred me to called again and again after being told I was not interested. Today I was in America's Best with my husband. I found glasses I wanted. I called the store I went to abs was put on hold. When the gal came back she said they were super busy, , to call back. 2 hours later I called again and asked for the manager. She was busy as well. I originally was going to go to the 28th store. I called them to make sure everything was ok. I decided not to go. My friend told me not to go to the alpine location. I should have listened. I came home and took my script back up to America's Best.

The sunglasses selection wasn't quite as vast, but honestly, it barely registered because of the incredible service I received from Kate. She was an absolute star! Kate took all the time needed, patiently helping me try on multiple pairs of both eyeglasses and sunglasses. She was genuinely honest but always delivered her feedback with a caring and helpful touch. I ended up leaving with a fantastic new pair of glasses and some stylish Ray-Ban sunglasses, all thanks to her guidance.
I can't recommend Kate enough - she's incredibly kind and truly went above and beyond. Definitely five stars for Kate!"

I had a screw come out of my glasses and it was far too small to get back in without tools. I brought the glasses to Eyeglass World on Alpine and they fixed them right away and didn't charge me a dime! Great customer service.
The optometrist was pretty unprofessional. We did my eye exam and halfway through he left to grab my glasses because the lady never gave them back to me, I could hear him right outside the door complaining about how I "had a lot of complaints" and was upset about missing his lunch break. He rushed through everything and made me feel very unwelcome. I apologized when he came back in and said I wasn't aware I had booked at a bad time, and he said "it's fine, I'll just miss my lunch break but I'll survive." Very unprofessional. Didn't even apologize for me overhearing that. Not to mention he had bad body odor which is also unprofessional. The lady who did my contact lense training was very sweet though, I can't remember her name. Wouldn't recommended because of this experience.
Johanna at the Alpine store was amazing in helping me pick out frames and making sure I got all my insurance benefits. She went above and beyond!
Everyone was very friendly there. But i won't be going back there, I guess you get what your insurance pays for, but i cannot even use my no line bifocal glasses, I have never had frames as horrible as these. So I have to wait till the first of the year to get new glasses. I don't recommend this place at all.

BUYER BEWARE!!! I just received my son's "new" frames in the mail. I specifically requested frames NOT off the shelf because hundreds, if not thousands, of people try on and take off the display frames. This puts a tremendous amount of stress on the frames and consequently, the frames will not sit evenly. So when the salesperson asked me upon purchase to take the display frames with me, I requested new frames to be shipped to my house.
The frames that just arrived do not sit evenly on a flat surface, and have fingerprints all over the lenses (further indicating that they are NOT new, and showing poor quality of service). After talking to 2 different Eyeglass World locations in Grand Rapids (a total of 4 different people) a manager finally admitted that they CANNOT GUARANTEE ANY GLASSES TO BE NEW (not display). Furthermore, they refuse to send a replacement frame. I would need to drive the frames back to the store (an hour and a half trip), return them, and then wait for another frame that they still cannot guarantee as new.
Since I specifically requested new frames at the time of purchase, and am now being told they cannot guarantee any of their frames to be new, I feel Eyeglass Glass is peddling lies. When I asked the manager to properly inform staff of the error, she said she "didn't think it was necessary."
So, I have never written a poor review before. But for this, I will take the time out of my day to let the public know that while they may be saving $100 on frames, it's because the frames they are receiving are most likely display. And if that's cool with them, then that's fine. But I have a feeling that most people care. And I'll be saving this review, and checking back to see if it has "magically disappeared" from Eyeglass World's website. If so, I'll be re-posting it, and adding to the review how times it's been taken down.

Had a great experience at Eyeglass World. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! Davonte really went above and beyond to help my husband and I find the perfect glasses! The atmosphere was super welcoming, highly recommend if you need a new eye exam or fresh frames. Thanks again!
