I am very disappointed in this clinic. I've been going here for years and will officially be making the switch somewhere else. I had been have issues with dizziness and decided to get a second opinion on why this was happening and found out that I had been given the wrong prescription for years at oakdale optical. To make matters worse, I brought in my year supply of contacts (with the wrong prescription) and asked if the boxes of unopened contacts could be reimbursed. I was pleasantly surprised when they said they could! The man who helped me with this situation seemed very helpful. I had him look into a new year supply to see how the price would compare with the new clinic I had went to see. I found that the contacts were more expensive at Oakdale and told him I did not want them purchased there but still needed the boxes that I brought in to be reimbursed. It seemed like we came to a clear resolution and I left. About a month later I got a call from oakdale saying my new contacts were in.... I called to say I did not want them and that this had been discussed with someone at the store. I explained the past situation. They said it was all good. Fast forward to this past month where I then receive a bill in the mail for the contacts I again said I did not want. I decided to check my account and found that I was also never reimbursed for the contacts I returned to the clinic. Today I called to try to clear this up and figure out my reimbursement of nearly $400. I am told that none of this information is in my file and that they cannot do anything about the contacts that I had brought in. Thankfully they were able to return the ones that I did not even buy. My conversation with them was very defeating and I am so upset that I was 1. given the wrong prescription which led to health issues and that 2. someone was not doing their job and I will be out nearly $400 because of it.

I love Dr. Trent Cole. He is the best!!! We drive further to see him at the Oakdale location due to the cottage Grove location is horrid! Horrible customer service and never answer their phones. No vm either. Love Dr. Cole!!!

The doctor during my visit was fine. The problem, however, is the rude and unprofessional desk staff. Lied about sending documents, and the lady I spoke to about it over the phone was extremely condescending and dismissive. Many of the reviews say the same thing so I wonder when they'll actually do something about it.

First and foremost, Optometrist Dr. Trent Cole is a talented, knowledgeable, family-friendly doctor who shows compassion and understanding for his patients. He makes sure to give his patients an in-depth review of the health of their eyes and considers their overall health to make sure he's making the best decisions on his patients' behalf concerning their eyes. Some of the associates and colleagues in the Oakdale Optical office are discourteous and unpleasant. Upon other examples and issues that I won't include in this post at this time, the best example I can give is the following: I had ordered a pair of glasses with transitional lenses and was told they would include blue light filtration. But when I received them, I noticed they were different than my old ones and different from another pair in the family that were ordered at the same time. I brought them in to ask about them and I was immediately met with combative associates. A man (I believe his name is Andrew) comes out from the backroom and asks, what's wrong? I expressed my observation with the blue light filtration and without anyone looking at the glasses, he snapped, "I'm not sending them back. I'm not remaking them. You can return them, and I'll refund them. I'll give you your prescription and you can go somewhere else. At this point, you're costing us too much money." (I had issues with the lenses causing vertigo and was working with the doctor to fix them, hence the two or three remakes.) Funny enough, I had double checked with the doctor to make sure I'm not being that person, and he assured me that I'm not.) But the man who came out was adamant that he would not be sending them back, even though I hadn't asked for that outcome, just confused about why my glasses appeared different. Deciding that I needed to think about it, I had requested that Dr. Cole give me a call to maybe shed some light on why the glasses appeared different. The lady at the counter rolled her eyes and brushed me off, saying, "I'll make a note. But he doesn't run this clinic anymore." So unfortunately, with no call and noone taking a look at my glasses, I ended up returning them and getting my prescription, which I was disheartened about since Dr. Trent Cole and I had worked so hard to get these glasses to work (I need the bluelight filtration since my work has me in front of screens everyday). I've included a picture to show why I was concerned and confused. The top ones are glasses another family member ordered with the blue-light filtration. The bottom ones are my old pair, and the middle ones are the new ones that I was questioning. In conclusion, Dr. Trent Cole is fantastic! And he's someone I would trust my eyes with every day. If you're looking for an empathetic, knowledgeable, and talented optometrist, I highly recommend Dr. Cole. But the rest of the office staff (for the most part) is hostile and disrespectful when interacting with customers (again, there are more issues that I haven't included in this review). I hope the public and any potential customers in the future find this review helpful. If it is, make sure and like this review! Update: I ordered glasses online from Zenni Optical and I highly recommend them. No hassle, no mess. I can see out of the glasses without becoming dizzy, and it's clear that there's a blue light filter. Not to mention, they're infinitely cheaper than the frames and lenses provided by this location.

Avoid this place. My sister and I had an extremely disappointing experience here. When we booked the appointment, we were told they accept our insurance. Their billing department had already informed them they no longer do -- but no one told us. After my sister was seen, they suddenly demanded $200 out-of-pocket. The manager, Justin, blatantly lied and claimed the doctor had informed us beforehand, which simply did not happen. The front desk staff also failed to communicate anything and were dismissive when we asked questions. These things should be discussed clearly at check-in -- not after the appointment, and certainly not blamed on the doctor. As healthcare professionals ourselves, we were shocked by the dishonesty and overall lack of professionalism from the entire team. Truly unacceptable experience

Came in for a new prescription, contact lens fitting, and to get new glasses. Came into contact with 4 different employees during my visit and everybody was extremely kind and helpful. Service was fast and easy. They helped walk me through my new insurance, and were knowledgeable about how it works when I had questions. They also threw in a discount on my frames and contact lenses. Very pleased!
