I had not been to the eye doctor for around 3 years. Made an appointment at Clarkson Eyecare in Ballwin, Mo. They have a great team. Dr. Portell was very thorough. Very nice and very helpful. Maddie and Savannah were very knowledgeable. Extremely pleased with my experience.

My husband and I had back to back appointments at the Ballwin location. I was very impressed by the receptionist being so polite. Then I was promptly seen by Dr Portell who was very congenial and very thorough. Then the hard part started, picking out new frames. Lauren was helping both of us. She was a great help. Extremely patient and helpful. I never felt rushed or pressured and even after she had my order all set and then changed my mind she didn't blink. All in all it was made to be a pleasant experience rather than a stressful one. Good job all!!

I picked up my new glasses which I was so excited to receive. I opened the case and the sides of my glasses had glitter on them! The ones I had tried on before purchasing did not. I told the workers these did not look like my glasses. They showed me the floor model and sure enough, the floor model glasses did not have glitter because they have been worn down. The workers said I would have to pay to pick out a different pair. I think that's ridiculous considering it's an error on their part of having aged glasses on their floor that don't accurately represent what the customer is purchasing. Now I have a brand new pair of glasses that I'm not going to wear. Bad customer service.

Upon arrival I was greeted with a smile and hello. They were totally ready for my visit and records.
The Doctor is very friendly and caring. He ask pertinent questions and was very knowledgeable.

In 3 years time and 2 sets of glasses which could never use. Clarkson Eyecare simply missed the mark on vision and service. Personally I will never go to Clarkson Eyecare again.

Some of the most rude and disrespectful staff I've ever interacted with (9am on 6/24/25). I've been going to this location for a while and after today I will not be returning. The two front desk secretaries kept talking over me and cutting me off when I was trying to clarify their policies (which are not implemented consistently, causing confusion). One refused to give me my medical information so I could find care elsewhere until I continued to demand it. I would rate them 0 stars if I could. I encourage everyone to avoid this location and seek care elsewhere.
