I had a wonderful experience in the store today. I was greeted and helped very quickly. The store was very neat and clean. There was a nice light atmosphere, as other customers were chatting and taking turns graciously as they were helped. My eye exam was easy and comfortable. The doctor and technician were both very friendly, and gave me lots of advice and information. I was helped by Chase to purchase my eyeglasses, and he was an absolute joy. He found some gorgeous designer frames for me, and carefully selected all of my lens choices to make sure they are exactly right.
I have been to this location several times and always have a great experience.
Today they went above and beyond!
The prices are unbeatable with a free eye exam, an excellent and affordable array of stylish designer frames, and great prices and options for contact lenses, too.
Highly recommended for the best customer service, products, and care for well-being out of all the optical salons I have visited.

Showed up at around 9:35am to get a screw put back into my wife's glasses. 1 simple screw. Waited about 21 minutes so far. 2 people at front desk with no customers in line. 1 customer on the phone. We have a set appointment to have my truck fixed. It's 1 screw. Stop what you're doing and put the screw in. Get 1 task completed and out of the way. Let's go
Definitely do not recommend this place. At least this location. They have zero customer service skills and don't even try to act like they want to work with public. Melissa should not be the "face" of the company answering the phones or "greeting" people as they come in. The Dr. didnt even introduce herself and when I got called back for my exam she rolled out to the hallway and hollered my name from the exam room in a rolling chair. I was told to go out and someone would be with me shortly. I waited for 15 mins looking around and not one person offered help. When I approached the desk to ask for help the guy who o believe was the manager acted as if I was a huge bother. So I just asked for my RX and I would go elsewhere for new glasses. He gave me attitude when asking "is there a problem or something" I just responded "can I not have my RX?" Which he responded "I just feel there is a problem". I got my RX and left. Worst experience I've ever had at an eye dr. And I've worn glasses my entire life.
I have been going to this franchise for many years, different locations, my last appointments for my daughter and I have been at the Chouteau Location but they didn't have an open appointment for today Friday! They had an opening at the Barry Road location, when I booked it, I didn't realize it was a remote appointment until I got there!! I got very nervous about it when the lady took me to the room and told me that this appointment was remote, I am glad I stayed, the First Lady that did my exams in the first room was so kind, caring, and explained everything She was doing, the Second Lady for the remote appointment was also super sweet, Dr Matthew was also very nice and professional!! At the checkout area the manager helped me with my contact glasses, got a free trial box, He was also so nicest caring , also took the time to explain to me how to clean and care for my contact lenses!!! Thank you so much to everyone! You guys are amazing, thank you for a wonderful visit!
Only reason I booked an appointment here was because of the Saturday availability, did not expect the attitude at the door when I first came in to get started - and definitely found it off-putting that they nickle-and-dime you with the pre-test charging you for pictures of your eyeballs that are meant to make the doctor's job easier. They're so slow I was able to write this while waiting between the pre-test and the exam. What a joke. One and done for me for sure.
I had an eye appointment today and I went in I've been here before and I've never had any trouble. The front desk lady was rude and very unhelpful didn't want to look at my insurance card after telling me she couldn't find my coverage and then the other lady that came over to help her was also very rude. They kept telling me to calm down when I wasn't aggressive at all, I was offended by the attitude. The person that had me look at the air balloon in blew air in my eyes was awesome! The eye doctor was amazing and the lady that was going to help me with frame was so sweet, but because of the treatment at the front desk by those 2 women, I opted to spend my money elsewhere! My wife also noticed that every person that entered after me she was very polite and kind too and also noticed that she was judging based on the look on her face before we even walked through the front door! Because of those two women I will never enter another America's Best do better!
I was greeted by the sweetest lady in red glasses! The entire staff at 19 nw Barry rd was personable and very welcoming! After leaving the St Joseph store in tears due to the rude receptionist, I felt that the staff at the metro store saved the day and kept me as a customer!
After reading some of the previous reviews, I'm not surprised by my experience.
I've been coming here for 30 years.
I came for my yearly contact and eye exam in Aug and somehow my perception got "locked" where they couldn't print or send it. For some reason it took me coming to the store in person to get this resolved. Chase, the assistant manager, was the only person who really seemed to care that I had been trying to get this resolved. I don't know what's happened to this business but it is definitely not what it used to be.
