I have never been treated so poorly by an eye doctor before. The appointment went well though several times I told him I could see more clearly In one eye and he kept telling me it wasn't more clear (??) but when the two eyes were put together, I did see normally through their glasses. But on my drive home, my left eye was blurry so I called them immediately and told them to cancel my contact order because this is blurry and I need to try to adjust for a few days before making this purchase. I told them I was coming back to get my contacts that I wore into the appointment and gave the phone to the Doctor Who HUNG UP on me when I told him I was coming back for them bc I was seeing blurry. When I walked in, receptionist gave me a different contact for my left eye (-5.0) that was one script stronger and when I asked for my contacts that I came in with that I accidentally left there in a blue case the receptionist told me to go knock on the door and ask the doctor. I could hear him in there with a client and I told the receptionist I think he's in there with a client. I don't feel comfortable going in there so he walked around the desk, knocked and flung the door open as he was talking to this other client and I asked him if I could please have my contacts back that I accidentally left there and he said "no they're gone" and I said well what trashcan are they in because I need them in case I need to switch back. He said "you can't have them. They are dirty. They are old." They were about three or four weeks old and I paid for them so if I need them then I want them, I said "well they are mine and I need them back please" And he told me no go get the equal prescription up at the desk and when I left the room, I said this is not the equal prescription (not knowing he changed my left eye strength because he said it was the same). I said I'd try it for a few days, but I'm going to need my old script if it continues to stay blurry and was told no. I said well he's obviously unwilling to give me the prescription that is the same as my last contacts. For further context , I never had problems with seeing with my last contacts. I had issues seeing with glasses and I told him I get migraines anytime I wear glasses for the last 10 years. No matter what type/shape /specialty lenses I have gotten I have always gotten headaches.. and he really tried to push me to buy glasses. I decided against it and maybe that is why they were upset, I am not sure... but I am going to need an accurate prescription so my eye doesn't feel crossed and so I can have a useful pair of backup glasses. I honestly cannot believe that I was hung up on and talked to the way that I was and that my property was not given back to me, and this was in front of another client which was extremely unprofessional, and I hope that she sees this and chimes in herself on what happened.
It's now Sunday. I have a migraine that has me in tears because my vision is slightly blurred and my left eye is crossing.. I noticed he changed my right eye prescription on ONLY the contacts even though he said it did not change, but he left it the same on the glasses script. I took in my old contacts and my old glasses both, he said the glasses were too strong before even performing the exam, even though these were the only glasses that don't give me severe migraines after 10 minutes.
Im struggling- it's causing my whole face/jaw tension.. I'm going to have to contact my insurance social worker because I need a re-examination by someone who isn't going to dismiss everything I say and take my input into consideration.
Monday- kind female receptionist called me, gave me new contacts of old script. I was so internally frantic I threw away the -5.0 instead of trying it on my left eye with the -5.25 in my right. So I still don't know if that would've worked better, i just know I need to go get re examined by a different doctor, elsewhere, because those two men are hostile and I refuse to deal with that. I want an accurate dx so I can get contacts and new emergency glasses that fit my face.

I have been going to Gerry Optical since I was a child. The staff at the Antioch location is extremely friendly. Dr. Samuels is a great doctor! The staff always double checks before you purchase to make sure your maxing out your insurance benefit. I also really like having some other helpers when you're trying on glasses! They are happy to help when you need it!
It took three weeks to get an eye appointment, and they don't start till 9:30 during the week and are limited availability. Longer for Saturday. They seem to care less if you use them, and the girl that works there couldn't seem to find my insurance and she called me several times confused. No text reminders for my three week away appointment and they are understaffed. I did not feel like they really cared.
We had a great experience here. Dr. Samuel is so nice and personable, the ladies are both really helpful and enjoy a good laugh. It just feels like you're amongst friends here. I had a small flaw in my brand new lenses, and they replaced them with no fuss or hassle.
Had an exam and ordered glasses for the first time. Dr. Samuel was very knowledgeable and friendly. The opticians were great with helping me pick out a frame. Will definitely be going back to them for my yearly checkup and new glasses.
My grandma got her glasses there. We went in because she had a lens scratched and was getting her lens replaced and the woman there was incredibly rude to both my grandma my mom and myself. I am due for a new pair of glasses myself and will certainly not be going there for them. I'm just thankful we only have to go back once more when her lens is ready. Any further adjustments she needs we will have done elsewhere.
Whole staff is super friendly. I'm not from around Kansas City but they treated me like family. Dr. Samuel was great. Really can't say enough nice things. Highly, highly recommend.
I purchased some frames and lens from there, I am having problems with a blurr or a thumb print on both of my lens. This guy that works there care less about me or my lens, he cleaned them again and told me bye, bye theres the door bye!! He is a older man with glasses, very disrespectful and rude. I will call to see when the eye doctor is there, this happen me 2yrs ago idk if he is the same guy. If I could I would give no STARS!!
