Sabates Eye Centers

I'm writing this to share my honest experience so others can make an informed decision when choosing an eye care provider. I was disappointed with the level of care I received from Dr. Kathleen Kwedar. I initially intended to establish ongoing care at this practice, but after my appointment, I left feeling uncertain and uneasy. The appointment felt rushed from start to finish. In particular, the retinal exam was the fastest I have ever experienced. Each eye position was examined for only 1-2 seconds before moving on. While efficiency is important in medicine, the pace of the exam made it difficult for me to feel confident that my concerns were being fully evaluated. I also felt that my symptoms were somewhat dismissed. When I explained the issues I was experiencing, it felt as though assumptions were made about my baseline health rather than fully exploring what I was describing. As someone who works in the medical field, I understand the importance of clinical judgment, but bedside manner and patient reassurance are equally important. The overall tone of the interaction felt short and dismissive, which made it hard for me to fully trust or feel comfortable with the conclusions provided. It is entirely possible that my findings are benign, and I sincerely hope that is the case. However, it is difficult to leave a medical appointment feeling uncertain about whether your concerns were thoroughly addressed. Clear communication and a sense of partnership between physician and patient are essential, especially when it comes to something as important as vision and eye health. If you value a provider who takes time to explain findings and ensures you feel heard, you may want to carefully consider whether this practice is the right fit for you. I believe patients deserve to leave appointments feeling informed, reassured, and confident in their care.

Dr. Kweter is fantastic! I have to get a shot every month in one of my eyes. And I've been to five different doctors since I was diagnosed. Without exception, her process of injecting the medicine is the best I've had. Absolutely no pain. The way she numbs my eye is fantastic.

Brought my 17yr old son for an exam after another place had been stringing us along saying my son may or may not have glaucoma, making come to multiple appointments. Out of frustration I called Sabates Eye Center and was set up with Dr. Waldman, a glaucoma specialist. After our first appointment I had my answer that he did not have glaucoma. I felt very good about the exam. He was very thorough and I am so happy to finally have an answer by someone who is well qualified.

Saw this office in March of 2025 and was given the completely wrong set of glasses and contacts. Spent $2,500 for nothing. I have an autoimmune disease I've been very ill and unable to deal with calling them but when I got around to it, apparently it was too late and they will not do anything to fix their mistake. I would not recommend this office.

I highly recommend Dr Kwedar at the Northland location. She is a retina specialist and very competent. She is kind, listens to my concerns and explains any questions. Great doctor!

I thought you all did a great job. My first impression of your check in process was not good. The line to check in was out the door at one point. Once I was through that, everything was great. All your staff was wonderful.

The entire staff at the Barry Road Sabates is "A Cut Above" Friendly personalities put me ant ease right away. There is always time for questions and if the answer is complex they take the time to break it into pieces for the patient. You understand your condition with all that knowledge. Thank you!

It's clean and well organized. Receptionist and scheduling good. Husband had cataract surgery that went well now I'm here checking my vision and eye health. So far, so good. Thank you!
