I've been a patient for a long time. I originally was going to the Laconia location and then switched to the Somersworth location when I moved to Maine a year and a half ago. Dr. Guarino is an awesome, nice doctor who is the only reason I'm not giving one star! I've had no issues coming here until recently in Somersworth. The office staff is rude and dismissive. I've been a patient with no issues all these years, but because I had an issue getting to my appointment once (paid the $75 fee for no 24hour notice) and then unfortunately got hit with a migraine so bad it would have affected my eye exam on the day I was to go to my rescheduled date, they wanted to charge me $75 for no notice. I argued that it wasn't something I could get a 24 hour notice for, that it hit me hard and was making it hard to use my eyes. The response I got was as if I was this ongoing problem patient that has always caused them nothing but strife with wasteing the doctor's appointment times. That "it's extremely busy here and I don't have time to argue with you. I'll look in your file and see if I can cancel the fee but I'll have to put a note in your file to have you pay up front before your next rescheduled visit because you've canceled twice with not enough notice." Seriously?! Like I said to her, I've been a patient with no problems with appointments for years and the moment I'm not perfect I get a note in my file to pay upfront?? Horrible way to treat a loyal, long term patient who never had issues with appointments beforehand. I'm already looking for a new doctor because that's BS treatment.
Dr Guarino is one of the best eye doctor we've ever had. He's very knowledgeable, thoughtful, and thorough. We first found him when he was at Walmart in Rochester and we've stayed with him ever since, even coming up from Connecticut to do eye exams with him! Unfortunately, the move to Eye Logic has been the undoing for us. We've been disappointed, at best, for the way we have been treated by office staff. I'm not sure why there seems to be such hostility, even on the phone making an appointment. It took four months and numerous phone calls AFTER our insurance had paid them, for us to be reimbursed for the several hundred dollar upfront cost that we were required to pay at our visit. We were hoping this year would be better, but it was not. We are sorry to be leaving, we wish Dr Guarino all the best.
Talk about an amazing experience. As a person who used to work in ophthalmology I am very particular in what i know is and isn't correct. I had an amazing experience from getting put on the schedule to coming into the office. The front desk women was very pleasant and helpful. The doctor was realistic with me and did a wonderful job. He made me feel like my eyes were my choice and really made sure I was happy with the service I received. The Optician that helped me at the end of the visit pick out glasses and collecting payment knew before I came in the coverage I would have for glasses. She helped me pick a frame and was very helpful and honest as I hate the glasses selection part of the visit. The place was very clean and well put together. I would highly recommend anyone to go there.
Great experience. The doctor was very kind and was patient as I learned how to use contacts. I scheduled an appointment to pickup my glasses a week later. Jennifer called because she had arrived early and was able to get me in before they officially opened. Great article and very kind employees.
The Doctor is GREAT and always worth speaking positively about, staff on the other hand, has always been terrible!
Even though they take our insurance and I took the day off to drive to their office (no other Optometrists near me take our insurance- 60+ miles) I will not return again!
The doctor is very kind. He does his job well and he's a pleasure to work with. His front desk receptionists however are horrendous. I've met two women so far that have been there for years somehow and neither one of them are nice or helpful at all. They are very dismissive and make every question you have seem like the biggest inconvenience, as if I'm supposed to know everything already. They also don't listen to instructions, as I had left a voice mail asking them to call me for a new address before sending out my contact lenses sample, and when I went to grab them in person instead as I was unexpectedly in the area, she was putting them in a mailer with my old address on it. And then also made it seem like a burden that I was there to get them as she had already placed them in a mailer....sorry? Absolutely. Horrendous. Customer service. Dr. Guarino needs to hire better help, because he's fantastic. I will be going elsewhere however.
I totally agree with Mckenzie Howard's review. The doctor and his assistant were VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY! I was a first time eye care customer and the receptionist was everything and worse than what Mckenzie Howard said in her review. She guided me to the wrong glasses for my plan, gave me grief about changing the $300 purchase that she duped me into buying [because they didn't show me the Davis brand frames that are covered 100%], and then refused to view the PDF provided by my insurance that outlined my coverage. This is my 2nd attempt to post my negative review of the receptionist as SHE HAD THE NERVE TO CALL ME ONE HOUR AFTER I LEFT MY 1ST REVIEW, VERBALLY HARASS ME OVER THE PHONE [NO JOKE!!], AND DELETE MY FIRST REVIEW!! :-o Originally, I left a two-star review, but since she deleted my review, I'm updating it to a lousy one star review!! :-P I had no other choice than to contact my insurance company and tell them that I refused to do business with this rude and unprofessional receptionist. She lacks manners and lacks the ability to guide you to the products that you need. *** I REPEAT *** UNSKILLED AND UNPROFESSIONAL PERSONNEL AT THE FRONT DESK. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
Very kind and honest people. My appointment for an eye exam was quick and smooth. Left feeling happy with my new choice in eye doctor!!
