The doctor is highly knowledgeable and absolutely worth the drive. Unfortunately, the overall experience is consistently undermined by excessive wait times. Appointments frequently run far behind schedule, and even the assistants have acknowledged difficulties with scheduling, noting that different visit types require varying amounts of time. This ongoing lack of organization is quite apparent. Much of the delay seems to stem from the front-office staff. The assistants spend most of their time on the computers and often appear disorganized, disengaged, and unhelpful. While they can be pleasant at times, communication is a major issue; patients are rarely informed about delays, problems, or what to expect. During our visit, we also observed that incoming phone calls were repeatedly placed on hold for extended periods without any clear reason, even while the office was relatively quiet. This raises concerns about how time and responsibilities are being managed. To make matters worse, we arrived slightly late due to weather conditions and called ahead to notify the office. We were told it would be fine. However, upon arrival, this was not acknowledged, and no further communication was provided. We were still made to wait over an hour, which is particularly concerning given that the patient is diabetic and had not eaten due to the early appointment time. With better training, organization, and proactive communication from the office staff, this practice could be excellent. As it currently stands, however, patients should be prepared for significant delays and minimal communication

I was experiencing irritation in my eye and called Freehold Ophthalmology because they are close to my home. I called late in the day, was met with a pleasant phone conversation and they gave me an appointment first thing the next morning even though I would be a new patient. I walked in to a beautifully renovated office with the nicest front desk staff. Rhonda and Carmen were welcoming, personable and professional. My wait time was only 2 minutes before a friendly assistant, Eunice, took me into an exam room to go over my medical history and conduct the pre-exam. Then I was taken to the Dr's exam room and shortly afterwards Dr Lyons came in to examine me. He was kind, thorough and explained everything in detail and in a way that I could understand. I felt confident that I was in good hands with this wonderful staff.

Dr Sica is AWESOME! She was gentle, kind and compassionate. ADORABLE.. I strongly believe that it's so needed in this world, especially in the healthcare industry. I wish EVERY Doctor could, would be this way. When people are dealing with pain, sickness etc... the last thing they want or need is someone rude and unpleasant to them as I've unfortunately experienced with the front desk more than once. Some individuals should NOT be working in the healthcare industry. It's so sad...

They never pickup the phone and when they do they are rude. When you go in, the doctor is amazing. But the front desk are the worst. They rush you and give attitudes. I use to like going to the other office but once they moved things changed completely.

Dr. Patel was recommended to me. I called on October 9th to make an appointment, but the secretary was very rude. I explained that my son needed his annual checkup because he wasn't seeing well at school. She told me I didn't have an appointment until December. I told her I needed one sooner, and she yelled at me, "I don't have one!" Don't you understand? I felt so bad. I went online and saw that Dr. Patel does make appointments. Why was she so rude? She doesn't have to be. Thank you. I hope you can say something about it.

I had been experiencing some pain in my left eye which I thought may be a scratched cornea. I called Wednesday morning and they had me in by Thursday afternoon. I saw Dr.Lyons who has a laid back calm demeanor and listened to my concerns as I am someone who has health anxiety and worries a lot. He gave me his personal cell phone and told me if I had any problems with the medication to call him. I ended up needing to call him a few days later unsure if I was having side effects of the medication early in the morning I left him a voicemail and he called me back within 5 minutes and got me in sooner than my appointment I had later in the day. I went for my appointment and he felt that I needed to see a cornea specialist in their practice which would have taken week but to my luck one of their cornea specialist happened to be in the office on her day off doing paperwork and agreed to see me immediately. Dr.Patel was patient with me as I am under a lot of stress and listened to me with not feeling rushed at all. She brought me back to her office where she did a very thorough exam and assured me that I was on the mend and added another medication to help with the discomfort and gave me her assistants information and told me to not hesitate to call or email if I have any questions or concerns. I recently moved to NJ from CT where I had an entire team of doctors that took me years to find doctors with compassion and knowledge and I have to say that this practice has exactly that. It's also a very clean and newly renovated office and the two times I've been I barely had to wait. Thank you so much for all of your care.

I finally found Dr. Patel after 3 visits elsewhere. 5 stars are not sufficient. The office made me an appointment within 15 minutes of my call. Dr. Patel was very thorough. I was finally on track to have my eye infection healed. She also followed up with me, via phone call, the next day as did her assistant, Alison, the day after that. I can't thank the staff enough!! I have already recommended Dr. Patel to others.

I called the office and I spoke with Glory. I just want to say that she was so kind, helpful and patient getting all the information that she needed from me. You could tell that there was concern for me in her voice. Many times when you call a doctor's office to make an appointment, the person on the other end is not so nice, but that was not the case with her. She really should be commended for her performance. She definitely cared and she got me in for an appointment the following day at my convenience with the doctor of my choice. THANKS TO HER FOR BEING A CARING PERSON.
