Dr. Harry Coniaris is definitely a doctor who treats patients with great care, time and attention. I had surgery on both eyes, and am pleased to say I see better now than I have in years. I appreciate the details and follow up, including a great staff in his office. Feeling welcomed and cared about, most of all knowing exactly who you are as a person. Highly recommend Dr. Coniaris and his office in Holmdel.
Unfortunately Ive had a horrible experience with this office. The staff is very rude, especially Christina the manager. My daughter has been going to this office for a while now. And my 7 year old son needed to be seen as well now because he is starting to go cross eyed and his vision is getting worse. I did cancel a few appointments unfortunately and I explained to the office I had to start chemotherapy and my diagnosis and finding everything going wrong with me has caused a lot of changes in my life the past couple months. No one cared and said they won't see my son anyway because I cancelled 3 times. I was mortified. In the past they messed up my daughter's glasses twice. She still couldn't see well and the glasses had to be redone. And then last year I had to speak to Christina the manager because my daughter waited weeks and weeks for her glasses to come in and the lady who shows the glasses forgot to send them out. But what really matters is how I was treated. Especially with what im going through and also my 7 year old son really needed to be seen. Horrible staff and the wait time is very long.
I regret taking my daughter to this office, and I want other parents to be aware of the experience we had. My daughter failed an eye exam at her primary care office despite wearing lenses prescribed by this ophthalmologist last year, so we returned for what I expected would be a thorough re-evaluation. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
The nurse insisted on taking my daughter, a minor, into a room alone and refused to allow me to accompany her. While waiting, I could hear the nurse asking my child questions that were clearly meant for an adult to answer. My daughter didn't know the answers, and I could hear her responding incorrectly. When I stepped in to clarify, I was met with unnecessary attitude instead of professionalism. Only after pressing the issue was I allowed to join the exam, which then felt rushed and dismissive.
Because the whole visit felt incomplete and not child-focused, I decided to get a second opinion from a pediatric ophthalmologist. I'm very glad I did. The second doctor found that the previous prescription was not strong enough to correct my daughter's vision and diagnosed her with myopia that required an actual treatment plan, not just another pair of glasses. We were offered Ortho-K and a long-term strategy to slow the progression, something that was never mentioned at the first office.
Based on our experience, I would not recommend this office for children. I wish I had taken the earlier reviews more seriously. I hope this helps other parents make a more informed decision.
My wife and I have been seeing Dr Coniaris since 1999 and wouldn't change home if we could. Great Ophthalmologist, people's person. Spends a lot of quality time with his patients. We do not have enough words to express our sincere gratitude.
I just want to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Coniaris for the recent lasik and cataract surgeries I had. I was skeptical because of how bad my vision was. I can't believe how much my Vision improved .
I would also like to thank Jody, Courtney, and Christine, who work in the office. They are amazing.
I was recommended to Dr. Coniaris after another Dr told me he could not correct my problem, well, Dr Coniaris did a Procedure and corrected my vision, that was 25 years ago, and five years ago, he did another procedure which corrected my eyes and eliminated me having to take eye drops for the rest of my life. , So I owe 25 years of great vision to Dr Coniaris. Thanks Dr C !!
I had catarect surgery on both eyes and i am very pleased with the results. Dr. Coniaris was very thorough and his office staff were also pleasant to deal with. At first I was nervous with the first surgery on one eye because i didn't know what to expect. But for the 2nd eye, I felt very confident in him. A very good experience overall.
Agree with previous reviews re: wait times. Appears he overbooks, heard office person calling patients to confirm appointments for the same date at 15 minutes apart. No wonder why there is such a long wait.
Importantly - AVOID this Doc for eyelid surgery. Did not require my PCP to approve surgery and I can only assume that he reviewed the PAT testing results. Prep was one Valium and procedure was just him in outpatient room, no nurse assistance and no vitals monitoring. Post-op no antibiotics or pain scripts. Surgery was UNSUCCESSFUL, eyelid was still turned in with lashes irritating my eyeball. He scheduled my cataract surgery just 2 weeks subsequent to eyelid surgery, extremely too soon.
Switched to a COMPETENT Opthamologist Surgery Doc who required PATs clearance from one of my Docs. Procedure was at surgery center with anesthesiologist who administered sedative intravenously, nurse assistant present and vitals monitored during surgery - heart, pulse, oxygen, blood pressure. Successful operation and COMPETENT Doc stated I have to wait 4 months for complete eyelid healing prior to cataract surgery, as opposed to 2 weeks with this Doc as stated. COMPETENT Doc Post-op scripted antibiotic and a few pain meds.
Very disappointing and frustrating experience with this Doc. I hope this review will have folks think twice about this office.
