20+ years going to SP and my Boss frames I paid close to $1K for, the bendable type, broke where the nose piece attaches to right side of frame, very odd place and I was just putting them on and pop, broke, nothing else. I still have my 15 year old Nautica's, my Carreras and told them I want the same bendable frames ( my eyesight got worse so I can't really use them). They no longer carry the brand I wanted and told me these Boss frames are the same type of frame, they are not. I'm now told the nose peice that connects the two sides are not bendable, not that I ever tried to bend them but to just pop apart is unreal. After only 1 year and 3 months I'm told out of warranty by 3 months and nothing they can do. They sold me something I would have not bought had I known. I wrote to Boss as well with no response. Here's what I can do, find another eye glass store plus never buy another Boss product. I gave a 2nd star becauseI like the Dr.

I worked with Dr. Alcala assisted by Lauren. Both ladies were incredible! Lauren is very sweet and even gave me a mini lesson in some fundamental eye health information. Dr. Alacla is so kind and patient. She answered all of my questions, and she just has a great energy about her!
I got a year supply of contacts and they were incredibly affordable with the mail in rebate!

I started going to Spare Pair after Costco stopped taking my insurance and went cash only (very shady). I'm actually glad they did because Spare Pair is so much better.
Dr. Lin was extremely thorough and professional. I like that he took the time to explain everything to me and even showed me an image of my retina!
After getting my prescription, Michelle did a fantastic job helping me pick out my glasses. I told her that I really like my old broken pair from Costco so she found me frames that were almost identical! They were ready for pickup 3 days later which was surprisingly quick. When I walked in to get them she remembered who I was without having to give my name! Fantastic customer service all around from Michelle.
Overall I'm really satisfied. I'm normally skeptical about buying glasses directly from eye doctor associated shops due to price but they honestly weren't that much more than Costco. Plus the frames and lenses were much better quality than the Costco pair which ended up breaking after a year. I will be back next year!

Front desk manager is one of nastiest people I have met. Rude, lying and unprofessional. Refused to give me my personal medical info because and I quote "it's the intellectual property of the optometrist" I have video of her trying to alter my medical records. Until she caught me recording and had someone stand and block me from recording.

Horrible customer service! It's a real shame because the frame selection is nice, but every time I go there, I feel like I'm bothering them. I spent $500 over my insurance on glasses which means they were actually worth about $700 and they won't honor a warranty because it's five days too late. They blame it on the insurance, but I was a manager of an eye doctor for several years and know that you could do replacement lenses without having to go through insurance. I hope the pennies you save saved by not replacing my lenses is worth 100s of dollars that you're gonna lose every year cause I'm going elsewhere to buy my glasses!!!!

I've been going to Spare Pair for so many years with my mother, kids and husband. I highly recommend it to everyone. A couple of times we tried going to other places that are closer to home, but nothing compares. I just went for an exam and to get new glasses yesterday. I truly appreciated the help of Ayo, Yennifer, Michelle the tech, Michelle for fitting and Dr. Michelle Alcala-Roth. They made me feel comfortable, cared for and heard. I can't wait to get my new glasses. Ayo was the perfect guide for helping me pick the most attractive frames. They're so cute...like jewelry. Thank you, team Spare Pair! And no, I was not paid to write this. I just want to help them stay in business so I don't ever have to settle for mediocre customer service anywhere else!
