I've been seeing Dr Lee for quite a long time. She is a sweet, kind and friendly doctor. Never had a bad experience with her. However it is sad to see that the negative comments far outweigh the positive ones. Mind u they are based on front office staff and not Dr Lee or the technicians. Really taken back to the one where the woman told the gentleman she couldn't understand his accent.
They originally were at 600 Pavonia avenue which was convenient. They moved a little farther away to a location that would make it very hard for folks without transportation, the elderly or a person with a handicap. Reception staff leaves much to be desired. When they were at 600 pavonia there was a woman who was just outright rude and disrespectful. I did mention it and basically the others were like Well we're sorry and that was it.
Getting through to them when the question doesn't fit into one of the prompts is exhausting. I call and call and call nothing. I leave messages. No call backs. That is why I didn't give a higher rating.
The technicians who assist prior to Dr Lee entering the room are amazing. Friendly and professional. Reception... Well I already mentioned. They are not the nicest people. I go there based on Dr Lee but reading the other reviews I doubt very much if I will go if one of the other 2 doctors has to work on me. Their rudeness would definitely not work for me.
xtremely Disappointing Experience with Hudson Eye Physicians & Surgeons - Jersey City
We had a very poor experience with Hudson Eye Physicians & Surgeons over two visits for my wife's dry eye issue.
At the first appointment, the nurse conducted most of the eye exam, and Dr. Roll spent barely two minutes with us before prescribing a steroid medication.
Concerned about the potential risks, we chose not to use the medication--and surprisingly, my wife's dry eye symptoms resolved naturally without any treatment.
Despite this, we returned for the scheduled follow-up appointment. Once again, the nurse did the exam, and the experience was exactly the same--no improvement in care, no meaningful consultation, and no added value.
In our opinion, Dr. Roll appeared inexperienced and disengaged. Honestly, it felt like both visits were a waste of time and money.
The nurse was more thorough and helpful than the doctor herself, which says a lot. Overall, it gave the impression that the clinic is more focused on billing than on patient care.
As for the charges -- they were outrageous:
First Visit: $259 billed - $121 out-of-pocket after insurance
Follow-Up Visit: $879 billed - $306 out-of-pocket after insurance
For such minimal interaction and lack of quality care, these charges are completely unreasonable. There was absolutely no value in either visit.
I strongly urge others to avoid Hudson Eye Physicians & Surgeons, especially if you're looking for experienced, professional, and compassionate eye care.
I had my 2nd appointment scheduled with Scott Walsman this morning. It did not go well as I decided to leave before It happened.
I wanted to find an ophthalmologist in Jersey City. The first visit I waited 80 minutes and was about to walk out when they told me I can be seen immediately if I stayed. I decided to stay and found Dr. Walsman ok but I did not get a full exam as I expected to get. I was told to come back for further examination in a few months. Looking back now I see that he just gets people in and out with the most basic exam from the equipment on initial consultations. I did not get an actual physical exam as I had been used to my whole life. But I thought, ok, I'll go back one more time and see how it goes before going to Manhattan. I find lengthy wait times to be very disrespectful to patients and their time as I have a job, family and a million things to do but when I mentioned the wait time he told that was standard at his office 60-90 minutes wait was typical. So I should of just walked away then but to go in town was appealing. So I tried it again to finish up the initial visit and make sure if anything serious needed to be addressed before moving on. I went to the Bayonne office next because it fit my schedule but street parking is 3 hrs without a permit. When I asked the receptionist if I had enough time she looked a bit nervous and informed that he had not shown up yet. A lobby full of people for over an hour and no Dr. so I said no this is terrible and decided to leave and not reschedule.
On my way out I saw him arriving in the parking lot. And it did not go well. I told him the wait times was too long and it was disrespectful for you to arrive over an hour late with a lobby full of people. I had a lot to do and can't spend two hours of my life sitting in a lobby waiting for a Dr. that didn't respect patients time at all. He didn't want to hear that and told me " to go live your life dude". I think that says it all. What a nob. Never again and I'd give him zero stars if I could. But the sad things is he's probably good at his job but lacks character and clearly self serving as he only had excuses. He had no intention of accepting responsibility for making patients wait until he graced them with his presence. This is a serious ethical issue and should be looked at. He says he's not overbooking but under booked by 22%. Then how can you show up 75 minutes late for work? If you're up late doing emergency operations then cancel your morning appointments but respect patients and their time. Science is one thing but the ethics that go with running a practice is another and there he gets a failing grade. And he clearly did not care. That's the worst part of it. He did not care at all. Shameful. He literally just showed up whenever and thought it was ok. Unbelievable!
Let's just say the people here are awesome. Great customer service and care. But let me give you heads up they moved from a location with a possibility of parking to a location with a 98% chance you WILL NOT HAVE PARKING. So make sure you come to your appointment at least an hour early cause it's going to take that to just find a park. Then give your self a little more time for walking to your eye appointmentfrom you parking spot. An they had NO CONSIDERATION for people with handicap and eye issues when they chose this obviously cheaper location.
Most unprofessional office I've experienced in quite some time. The front office is incompetent and Dr Elizabeth Roll is both unprofessional and seemingly lazy.
I went for a chalazion in March and Dr Lee was great and prescribed me correctly but told me to come back to have it fully removed due to how long it was there. The scheduler told me Dr Roll was capable and I went back today experiencing physical pressure and discomfort. She did absolutely nothing and pointed out things that weren't wrong and had nothing to do with why I came. She also even eluded Dr Lee was wrong to tell me to come back and not get the chalazion removed.
Not to mention Dr Roll was over 1 hour late for my appointment. Their doors open at 730 and I had the first appointment and was made to be late for work due to her unprofessional behavior. She was not apologetic or remorseful. I would recommend going elsewhere and don't give this branch your business at all.
The google office hours says till 6 30 pm on Wednesday. I went there at 5 40 pm and door locked and no one was there.
Also, last year annual check up, they seem to.process my claim wrong. I was charged 766. It went to collections now. You guys gave any email or phone number to reach out? The number in Google does not.gige option for billing and option 7 no one picks it up.
Saw Dr. Burrows here and I would not recommend her.
I came in for a glasses and contact prescription and the full exam was conducted by the tech. The physician did not examine me. If I'm not mistaken, the only people who can conduct an eye exam are physicians or optometrists. This person was a tech.
The doctor also gave me factually incorrect information about a medication.
I was surprised to see negative review of this place! I was able to get a next day appointment really quickly and easily on their website. When I arrived, the receptionists were really kind and helpful. I was taken in for my appointment pretty immediately. Esther Lee was a great doctor. Anything negative I'd have to say would be about how dated and old the office is- but even so, all of the equipment is new. One other thing- do NOT take the stairs when you leave! You may be tempted to take the stairs and get your steps in, but if you do, you WILL get stuck in the scary backrooms. It was not clear from the signage that these were service stairs and not meant to be used by patients.
