I highly recommend the team at Gallaway Beckett VT! I suffered a bad concussion and had issues with convergence, screens, tracking, lights, etc. As the VT fixed my eye issues, it also helped to alieviate other concussion symptoms, such as headaches and nausea, and my general ability to function normally. I should note Dr. Gallaway reffered me to a PT for vestibular therapy necessary for my recovery which my own neuro didn't stress the importance of. Dr. Gallaway truly goes above and beyond for his patients, and everyone at the office is so well informed and will really take the time to listen to you and offer solutions. Christine and Tami were the therapists who I mostly worked and they are amazing and celebrated even my smallest wins with such enthusiasm which made the sessions much more enjoyable. They became a reliable support system in my recovery, and I looked forward to working with them each week. Overall, the vibe with all the therapists in the room was great and really welcoming and kind; all of the therapists will meet you with compassion and knowledge in VT. The supportive environment from all the staff, and Dr. Gallaway and Beckett's expertise in concussion recovery, was incredibly helpful and important to my overall recovery.
Dr.Alissa Gallaway/Beckett, is absolutely amazing, and a Blessing! She has a heart of gold. Dr. Alissa, is very knowledgeable, and takes the time to listen to your needs along with educating you. She is always willing to listen and go the extra mile. I have never experienced a doctor that was so kind! I must acknowledge her vision therapists. The ladies are sweet as well. Sara, the lead therapist is WONDERFUL, her and Dr. Gallaway/Beckett are both top notch. Sara, worked one on one with me. She showed knowledge, compassion, and also listens and willing to go the extra mile. She made me feel like I wasn't just another patient. She was going on my journey with me.
I can not say enough how much the doctors and therapists are blessings to me!
I've been seeing Dr. Beckett since July, as the result of a concussion. Besides regular office visits, web exercises are done on my home computer, which have been amazing, and based on a unique neuroscience program. Because each exercise is also seen by Dr. Beckett, the process is an objective way of tracking progress. I truly believe that EVERYONE who has a concussion, shoukd be evaluated by Dr. Beckett. I am faithful to my exercises, and I'm making tremendous progress with a very complicated injury
We've had such a positive experience with GBVT, from Dr. Gallaway-Beckett to everyone on the team. I was a bit skeptical about the therapy but after several weeks, my son's teacher noticed much improvement to his reading. I also noticed improvements at home. We also appreciate the office's flexibility when we shortened our treatment plan. They have been extremely accommodating to ensure my son maintains his progress.
There is no way that I will be able to write this review without crying. That's how deeply and strongly I feel about Dr. Michael Gallaway and his entire, wonderful office.
Last year my precious (adult - college aged) son inexplicably and out of the blue lost his close-in vision capabilities. We are still trying to pinpoint the reason for this - the cause may be autoimmune or infectious in nature - but the result was that he was no longer able to read or look at anything up close without triggering horrific and debilitating symptoms such as dizziness, vertigo, headaches, etc. It was like he had sustained an incredibly traumatic head injury (or worse), but without the obvious initial impact to help explain it. Our lives were thrown into a hell on earth that I would wish on literally no one.
We live in the Washington DC area, and so I took him to various vision therapy providers in our region. I do not wish to shame the guilty, but let us just say that none of the vision therapy providers in or anywhere near our area had any ability to address the issue with any form of competence. I could write scads more paragraphs (or, actually, BOOKS) on this topic, but I will refrain. All that to say, I knew that we needed an amazing vision therapy provider, and I knew that my son's literal life depended on it.
I tore apart PubMed trying to figure out who the giants of the field were in the area of vision therapy. I will truncate the saga (which involves our family going all the way to New York state) and say that the answer was: Dr. Michael Gallaway. Scores of published journal articles, research studies, a giant in the field at Salus - whichever area of his incredibly impressive professional resume you would prefer to highlight, there it is.
After sitting in office after office after office of subpar vision therapists who I knew would not get us anywhere near, let alone across, the finish line, within just a couple of minutes of our first meeting with Dr. Gallaway I knew we had found our family's champion. You bet I drove my son from DC to New Jersey and back for Dr. Michael Gallaway over and over and over again. Week in and week out, month in and month out, seasons and moons waxing and waning, I paid the tolls and was grateful his office wasn't otherwise located in Alaska or California because, guess what, I absolutely would have flown my son there.
And so he and I drove. And drove. And drove. And they were with us all along my son's journey. He worked hard, they worked hard - we couldn't have asked for a better office or better support. Dr. Gallaway is a miracle worker and such a wonderful human being. So kind, so brilliant, so capable, and so very, very talented. My whole family just absolutely adores that man.
And I would sit, week in and week out, month in and month out, in Dr. Gallaway's waiting room while my son was in vision therapy and I would watch other families come in for consultations and I would think about how much I wanted to blurt out YOU ARE SO LUCKY THAT YOU LIVE SO CLOSE TO THIS OFFICE! SOME OF US DRIVE FOR SEVERAL HOURS EACH WAY AND PAY TONS OF TOLLS IN ORDER TO BE HERE! But I never did blurt that out...until now. Because if you're looking for a vision therapist and the stakes are high, you want Dr. Michael Gallaway. And if you live close by his office, then you are very fortunate indeed.
He saved my precious son's life. He will be able to help you. I wish you all the best. Take care.
As a physical therapist at Specialized Physical Therapy treating concussions and patients with vestibular issues, I cannot speak highly enough about Gallaway Beckett Vision Therapy. Both Dr. Michael Gallaway and Dr. Alissa Gallaway Beckett are extremely knowledgeable, truly care about the success of their patients, and fantastic at what they do. I have not had the pleasure of working with the other providers in this office, but I have no doubt they are excellent, as well. I highly recommend this practice for vision therapy.
We were very lucky to find Dr. Gallaway and Dr. Gallaway Beckett. Both physicians and the staff were amazing and very supportive as my son completed vision therapy. My son's issues were resolved by completing the program which has made a huge difference in his life.
I was very lucky to discover Gallaway Beckett Vision Therapy for my daughter. Before learning about vision therapy, I couldn't understand why she was losing her place while reading and omitting and inserting words. She was unaware of the fact that she was changing what was written because she knew all of the words in isolation. The team there is outstanding and welcomed us from the first day. They are always available to talk about how your child is progressing and give tips. They regularly assess and give updates as well. Even traveling a far distance and completing homework almost every day was worth it. Now my daughter's reading has improved greatly. I am so happy with the change I see! Go see them - you won't be disappointed!
