Dr. Emil Martirosyan: FIGHTING MYOPIA - Orthokeratology, Myopia Management, Eye Exams and Contacts

Dr. Emil is the kind of doctor this industry, maybe even America as a whole, desperately needs more of. I'm highly myopic and have dealt with countless optometrists on the east coast. Never have I ever met a *single* doctor who truly places their patient first like Dr. Emil does. I cannot emphasize enough how refreshing this is in our highly problematic and profit-driven healthcare system. I visited Dr. Emil on 12/2/2025 for an orthok consultation. I had booked a 20 minutes appointment but ended up spending over an hour in the exam room with Dr. Emil. Throughout the session, Dr. Emil was extremely helpful, patient, supportive, and transparent. After professionally answering 10+ questions of mine on myopia control and performing every necessary check on my eyes as I requested, Dr. Emil proved to me that his primary goal was to help me, the patient, in every way possible, regardless of what it meant for his bottom line. He could have cut me off at the 20 minutes mark and requested payment before he could spend more time on me. He could have rejected many of my requests for being "unrelated" to orthok. He could have turned me away simply because my case is too complicated and he has enough low hanging fruit to keep the money flowing. But instead of seeing me as another fat cash cow with good insurance, he genuinely treated me as a fellow human in need of help. Furthermore, Dr. Emil demonstrated a level of empathy, respect, and humility that is simply unlike any other doctor I ever worked with. Throughout the one hour session, Dr. Emil did not interrupt me, put words in my mouth, patronize me, or dismiss any of my concerns once, not a single time. I hate to sound cynical, but in a society where so many doctors put themselves on a pedestal and shove their massive ego in patients' faces all the time, Dr. Emil unwaveringly stays true to his Hippocratic Oath. Like I said in the beginning, I've worked extensively with doctors, especially optometrists throughout the east coast, ranging anywhere from corporations like Mount Sinai and century old independent family practices to highly respected boutique myopia specialists. Never would I have guessed in a million years the purest heart of them all would be found in the back of a Walmart vision center in Secaucus New Jersey.

Dr Emil is extremely kind, informative, and knowledgeable. He was so patient and genuinely took the time to understand my concerns and explain everything clearly. It's rare to find a provider who is not only knowledgeable but also so compassionate. I'm really glad I chose him, and I can't recommend him enough. I'll be recommending Dr. Emil to my friends and family!
