I've been a patient at The Eye Clinic NJ for about 25 years, but unfortunately, the service has declined significantly. The front desk staff in particular are unprofessional and in serious need of customer service training. Although I have excellent insurance, I was told upon arrival that they no longer accept Local 731 insurance, something they should have made clear in advance. Not only was this information already in their system from my previous visits, but they also require patients to submit updated insurance and ID days before the appointment. Despite completing this process, I was turned away after taking time off work for my annual eye exam, and the staff's attitude made the experience even worse. After this experience, I will be finding a new eye clinic that values and respects their patients, and I recommend others do the same.

Dr. Rassier was very thorough with the examination. I was surprised when he double checked my prescription and noticed something that did not seem right. He started from the beginning until he was sure and felt good about it. The staff is very courteous and reasonably fast with service. Nick took time to show me the frames that will fit me, went over with the features of the lens, and discussed its corresponding prices and insurance coverage. This place is highly recommended!

Had been coming here for 3 years and even when Drs changed, I was happy with new Dr. Raveendran. Staff were great, too, a few times squeezed me in for emergency (eye pain) and I brought them a box of Starbucks to show my gratitude. However, I was extremely disappointed with their billing administrator/office. Dr. Raveen put in punctal plugs and after 30 minutes, my eye started stinging and couldn't blink. I put in rewetting drops to ease the pain as I was driving home. I pulled over and checked mirror and my tiny 2mm silicon plug was hanging out from my tear ducts. I called back Drs office shortly after to come in again for a replacement & a redo. When I showed up, I was told that the Administrator said they'd have to charge again for the new plugs. It didn't feel right nor was it ethical practice that I have to pay (deductible of $250 per visit for plugs) AGAIN for an unfortunate error by the doctor. Had the plugs been fit properly, I wouldn't had to pay TWICE. It was more of the principle than the cost that bothered me, to be honest. I was disappointed by their lack of patient care so I decided to go to a different doctor and rather pay my money there for a replacement plug. I will not recommend this medical office. Dr & staff are great but billing office is AWFUL and didn't appear to value patient care.

Avoid this place at all costs. They'll switch your eye doctor on you last minute and not even advise? Let me know before I come in that the person isn't available don't just assume I'll be okay with someone new. Never sent my prescription to the pharmacy and then had the audacity to charge me a no show fee when there was no point in me coming back if I couldn't even get the treatment I needed. Rude and unprofessional. Not to mention I had to wait over an hour last time I was there for the other doctor to show up. The first person never recorded my initial exam. Overall such ridiculously lousy service. Receptionists need some better training too, they have some nerve being rude.

I wanted to like this place more because it's so close to me and in a beautiful building, but I got to my eye exam at 2pm and didn't leave till 4 pm... longest eye appointment of my life! I was told it would take 15 mins for the dilating drops to kick in but they had to move me to another room while waiting for that to happen to squeeze in another patient (they are definitely overbooked which must be why every step of my appointment took so long). They left me in the dilating room for way longer than 15 minutes, I was beginning to wonder whether they had forgotten about me. The staff there are okay, not rude but not personable either.

I was recommended to Dr. Rassier by a friend of mine and became a patient last August. The entire staff is very friendly, attentive and caring. I just had eye surgery a week ago and everything from start to finish was perfect. The facility where the surgery was done was wonderful as was the staff. Dr. Rassier is funny and has great bedside manners. The wait time was never more than 10 minutes if that at all and I'm a stickler for wait time. My son and husband are patients of Dr. Rassier as well and we're all very happy.

Dr. Rassier and his assistant Sandra are FANTASTIC. I initially wasn't even going to write this review but something has to be said and potential patients should know. The front desk staff is shockingly rude, disorganized, and passive aggressive. Before you think this is just a rant, let me clarify. Quick background on me: I tend to get along extremely well with my medical practitioners. This isn't because I'm anything special. This is because I am courteous, friendly, organized, and basically have my s*^t together so I don't waste their (or my) time. This office generally runs late- as much as 2 1/2 hours. This is actually not a make or break for me if I know it coming in- I'm willing to wait for a fantastic doctor, which Dr. Rassier is. HOWEVER... the front desk staff does not inform anyone when the doctor is running behind. That's just basic courtesy. But if it were just that, I would not be writing this review. The first time I called to make a contact lens appointment, the front desk staff gave me inaccurate price information. This meant that when I showed up for my appointment, I immediately had to cancel. On the same inquiry phone call, the same employee kept insinuating that I was going to try to avoid paying for the appointment somehow. I recognize that she may have been dealing with a different patient who was trying to do just that but she did not know me and it seems unreasonable to come out of the gate swinging that way. When I was finally able to come in for my lens fitting, I waited for almost 2 1/2 hours to be seen. When I was led in back, I was then told that I wouldn't be seen for the very appointment that I made. It turns out that there had been a computer changeover and the front desk had not bothered to look at my appointment in the old system or update it in the new. Ok- I could even forgive that- tech sucks- but then I was accused of dropping the ball by not telling them what my appointment was for (that I made weeks before with one of them on the phone) when I first came in that day. Had they asked when I had arrived, had they said they were dealing with a new system, I would have told them but they did neither. There is absolutely no reason I could have thought she didn't know what my appointment was for since I made the appointment for that specific purpose, on the phone, with one of them. I'm even one of those people who, had they told me when I made the appointment that I would need to remind them what it was for when I came in, I would have put a note in my calendar. They did nothing and then acted aggressively like I was at fault. I almost left but Dr. Rassier was kind enough to see me and apologized. Fast forward to today. I called to follow up on my prescription and was put on hold for a full 9 minutes at which point I clearly heard the phone cradle picked up and then they hung up on me. I called back and this time I was immediately- and clearly- hung up on with no answer. I frankly find this level of childish behavior inappropriate for any business and I will be taking mine elsewhere. Should Dr. Rassier either leave this clinic or replace this wholly unprofessional front desk staff, I will happily follow him there. He is a delightful and gifted doctor. If you do use his services, know that he's great... just brace yourself for the ridiculous and unprofessional front of house experience. UPDATE: I had been told by the front desk staff that my preferred contact lens was unavailable from/not made by the manufacturer (Acuvue Oasys with Base Curve 9.0). After my experience with this office, I recently decided to contact the manufacturer to confirm. They make my preferred contact lens and have for years. I ended up going to a different doctor and getting a brand new prescription rather than dealing with this office again.

I've been seeing Dr. Rassier for about 10 years now, if not more. He always examines me thoroughly and takes the time to address any concerns I have and always makes sure that he doesn't dilate me unless he knows that I have someone to drive me. Very honest man and he will tell you straight up if he thinks there are better options for you, rather than just giving you what you want right off the bat, he truly cares about the well-being of his patients! He recently did my LASIK surgery (after recommending I wait 1-2 years so I could have better results) and I couldn't be any happier. My vision is better than 20/20 in both eyes! Him and the staff are always super nice and always starting conversation with me. I will continue to go here for all my post-op needs.
