Awesome experience at the Omni Eye Services in West Orange, NJ. The staff provided great customer service by explaining all aspects of my eye exam! Dr.Elana Rosenberg listened to my questions and concerns without rushing. She provided the most comprehensive eye examination I have ever completed. My results were clearly explained and recommendations were made. I Will Definitely Recommend Their Services
My father's appointments here have been quite positive. During our initial visit, there was a minor hiccup involving the imaging test machine locking out the intern, which caused a brief delay. But apart from that, Doctor Lafata was excellent and so was the intern that assisted her, Nick. On later visits, we saw Dr. Crapanzano, who was also great.
Overall, both the doctors and interns have been polite, patience, and thorough in their explanations. They covered everything so clearly that I rarely had any follow-up questions, which I truly appreciated.
At the end of the first visit, we were given a folder that included detailed information about the surgery, clearance requirements, post-operative care, and other relevant instructions. It was a lot to take in, but having the printed materials helped me absorb the information more easily at home and translate it properly for my father, who doesn't speak English (or Spanish).
One suggestion I have is to include a list of phone numbers for the different departments or services. Since our appointments fell during the holiday season, I was getting a lot of spam and telemarketing calls, which made it hard to recognize legitimate calls from Omni--especially when no voicemail was left.
While scheduling appointments was relatively straightforward, securing a slot at short notice posed some challenges. Wait times varied too; sometimes it was quick, within 10 to 20 minutes before our actual appointment, while other times we had to wait 30 minutes to an hour. I definitely recommend bringing along a form of entertainment. I've seen other patients bring a book to read, others were knitting or crocheting, drawing, or even doing a crossword puzzle, etc.
As for the cataract surgery itself, you meet the surgeon on the day of the procedure, which may come as a surprise to some. It's important to follow all pre-op instructions carefully, especially regarding food and drink. The surgery takes place on the same floor, but in a different wing of the building. When you arrive, you'll check in at the front desk, complete the emergency contact and surgical consent forms, make your payment, and then wait to be called.
After the procedure, you don't leave right away. The patient is asked to wait about 10 minutes or so to allow the anesthesia time to wear off. If you're accompanying someone, as I was for my father, the staff will call you to let you know the patient is back in the waiting room. This is helpful in case you step away for a bit to get lunch or browse the store across the street, instead of waiting in the crowded waiting area the entire time.

For my first time visit the office personnel seem to be very friendly. My first encounter with one of the assistants was very pleasant. She was very cordial and helpful even explaining what I needed to do, etc
However, although the second assistant seem helpful she appeared to bea little more agitated with some of my actions. Yet attempting to be reassuring at times.
My overall experience met my expectations definitely after meeting with the doctor who was very pleasant and open to answering any questions that I may have had with my eye examination
Pleasant staff, CLEAN, NEATLY ARRANGE EXAM ROOMS. Waiting room large and clean, TV at a quiet volume. Reasonable Waiting time to be seen. I would gladly recommend this office to EVERYONE I KNOW
